Horrible Customer Service
I was excited to try MASA chips after a trusted friend recommended them. I placed a one-time order in March for a few different flavors and, while the chips were decent, the price was already eye-popping—over $100 for 12 bags.
What I didn’t realize is that MASA had apparently enrolled me in a “subscribe and save” program for one of the items in my cart, without any clear or obvious notification. I’m a careful online shopper, and I never knowingly agreed to recurring shipments.
Fast forward to April 27, and I was charged $196.80 for another box of chips—this time just one flavor, in bulk. I reached out to MASA support immediately, explaining the situation and offering to return the completely unopened box at my own expense. They refused, citing a no-return policy on food items, even when sealed and unused.
Adding insult to injury, days after this exchange, I received a marketing email from MASA stating that the exact chips they refused to take back were now sold out. So rather than accepting a sealed return, they’d prefer to discard product they could clearly use.
As a small business owner myself, I understand the importance of clear communication, ethical practices, and customer trust. Unfortunately, this experience showed me that MASA prioritizes rigid policies over customer satisfaction.
I won’t be ordering again, and I caution anyone considering trying these chips: double-check everything at checkout—and don’t expect support if anything goes wrong.
