So far so good. I'm new to the "art world" so ultimately time will tell but I've had nothing but positive so far with Masterworks.

I think this company is great, because they afford me the opportunity to invest in a basket of alternatives. I'd love as well to accept some of the invitations to exciting private shows. Unfortunately, my wife is down on NYC presently.

Masterworks - The retched reach into the abyss of trusting others ….

I finally had some disposable cash and was wondering what to do with it. Not going to go into the sordid details of how I feel victim to their marketing trap, I’m just going to share the results because they speak for themselves.

Initially invested 20K and another 5K a few months later for a total of $25,000. Their pitch is straight forward, great returns in unique “blue-chip” art properties that beat the S&P. The truth is much uglier. Months after buying my fractional ownership Masterworks re-appraised my collection, and all five pieces were downgraded in value by over 20%.

This begs the questions, who was setting the valuation of the art before they started selling shares? Idiots? Monkeys? Greedy corporate suits hiding behind lawyers pretending to be art experts? Who really knows. However, maybe I am just the unfortunate investor with an outlier experience, so I decided to look online to see what others are saying and here I am, looking at a bunch of reviews that say nothing about profit or liquidity.

I’m going to chalk this one up as a learning experience, although an expensive one.

Straight forward

I've been invested in Masterworks for nearly a year and though nothing in my portfolio has sold yet, it has been great to see/learn about the artworks offered.
One sour note: I tried to redeem points earned on the daily art quiz for my Picasso mug and it never came, even after I inquired. That was months ago.

Masterworks notifyied me in October while my wife and I were moving. This gave me time to research Masterworks, their program/ratings, and the artists hinghlighted on the Website. This made the actual teleconference meeting go very smoothly. The presentor and onboarding representative both answered all my questions.

My experience in the past with the Masterworks website has been seamless and very straightforward. The updated version has taken a backward step with all the Legal Jargon etc al, that scrolling through quickly requires a good cup of Joe. Needless to say, I know what I want, and yeh yeh yeh the legal side and privacy bullshit should be an easy option to agree to, not blindingly searching a webpage looking for a Box to place an agreement stamp in. Spending way too long to make my purchase. Masterworks needs to go back and revise the update so users like me, who are 63 and nearly blind, can easily tick the boxes and move on.

If i could give them zero i would - there are a bunch of reviews on the internet about how much of a scam this is but i can tell you for sure - if you want a stressful way to turn 15k into 10k over 4 years - this is it. The app is terrible, everything is crawling with charges AND they devalue your investment over time to pay their 'handling fees'. Do your research - anyone who says this is a good shout is getting kick backs. DO NOT GO NEAR IT - YOU WILL LOSE MONEY. Also - there is a second Masterworks trustpilot account on the domain - masterworks.io with a rating of 2.5* so clearly this one was setup to counter that - with almost 200 oddly positive reviews.

The patience and time of the people i talked to.

I’ve had a positive experience using Masterworks as an alternative investment platform focused on blue-chip art. What stands out most is that they make an asset class that was traditionally reserved for ultra-wealthy collectors more accessible to everyday investors.

I also appreciate the transparency around each offering, with detailed information about the artwork, the artist’s market history, and the acquisition strategy.

Another strong point is diversification. Art has a low historical correlation with traditional markets like stocks and bonds, which makes it an interesting component for a long-term, diversified portfolio. The ability to invest in fractional shares of high-value artworks lowers the barrier to entry significantly.

That said, this is not a short-term or highly liquid investment. Capital can be tied up for several years, and returns depend on successful resale of the artwork. Fees should also be carefully reviewed so investors fully understand the cost structure before committing.

Overall, I see it as a serious and well-structured platform for long-term investors who want exposure to the fine art market and understand that patience and risk awareness are essential.

Very clear information and not pushy.

Anisha Mittal was not the first advisor that has contacted me in the last year, but she was the first to actually initiate my first six art purchases. She has the "X"factor that many sales people often lack- that perfect blend of competence, ability to listen to intentively, follow-up with requests, and not too pushy. We set dates and made it happen. I wish her the best with Masterworks.

Christopher White was patient while it took longer than expected for me to arrange for funds, and he held my initial investment portfolio for over a month.

Clarity of offering and ease of use

When I watch her on Johnny Carson show, I decided to invest a few $$ in her paintings. I did like the painting as well. I am definitely losing $$ in my account at MasterWorks. I enjoy the feeling of supporting the arts.
