Unsafe, Misleading & Poorly Managed
Paid 250 AED for a desert safari booked through Myra Travels at the Gevora Hotel travel desk. We clearly informed Bhavika (travel agent) that we were travelling with a 9-month-old baby and requested baby-safe arrangements.
There was no clear plan or transparency. At the last minute, we were directed to the back of a 4x4, accessible only by folding a seat, which is completely unacceptable. Another passenger in the same vehicle was given a middle seat because their travel agent had booked it that way, raising the obvious question of why this was never arranged or even explained to us.
When raised, Bhavika stated that we “should have asked for middle seats.” Customers are not expected to know vehicle layouts. Asking for baby-safe seating should have been sufficient, and it was her responsibility to explain options or clearly decline suitability upfront.
The matter was escalated to Legin (Travel Desk Manager), who offered no solution and stated this should have been discussed prior — despite it being his employee who failed to do so. The situation was then justified using a no-refund policy, effectively forcing us to proceed.
Even after opting out of dune bashing, the drive through the desert to the campsite still involved uneven terrain and unsafe conditions for an infant. This experience is clearly being oversold, especially to families with babies.
This desk operates with a clear “if not you, another customer” attitude. Spend your money elsewhere — there are tour operators who communicate honestly and prioritise safety.
