Gutted they will cease to work after the end of October 2024. I have really enjoyed this gift. Used predominantly for the TFL and for motorway toll roads without any issues whatsoever in the +2 yrs.... Toon meer

My ring and the app worked perfectly…

My ring and the app worked perfectly until the app was updated and my card details disappeared.
I tried to add them and the verification transaction to the bank did not work. Emailed McLEAR and Claire responded saying to check the details entered etc.
I went into my bank and, together with the cashier, attempted to load the card onto the app again. The cashier said the bank was not seeing the ‘transaction’ it did not work. The bank issued me with a new card and that would not upload details either.
Since then I have sent an email every day to both Claire and Customer Support and I am no further forward.
What I have is not fit for purpose and I feel that Customer Support is a misnomer.
Update
Eventually received an email saying that the app would start to work again on Monday evening (15th January).
Guess what ………… it hasn’t.
So now been waiting to use my ring for 11 days.
Is this purchase value for money?
McLEAR won’t even refund once the ring has been activated. Is this fair if you cannot use their product due to their faulty app?
Is this technology worth the cost of the novelty attraction?

Best tech invention

Best tech invention I've owned in years. No need to carry my phone or cards (even though I do as a backup) easy payments everywhere and I've never had an issue with the ring or the app. I've owned the ring about 6 months now. It also gets people talking in shops and bars. It seems nobody has seen such a thing we're I live.

Wonderful product, great app, exceptional service

I couldn't be happier with this purchase.

The physical product - the ring - works well and fits comfortably. Not much else to say.
The interaction with terminals and readers has been faultless.

The mobile app on Android is fast, stable and very ease to use. Transaction updates often appear within seconds. And it appears to be under current development and improvement.

But the best part of the McLEAR system is the support team behind it. Clair is one name I have come to recognise as a real exemplar. The responses to any messages I have submitted by email are very prompt, detailed and relevant. Each reply is unique and doesn't give any suggestion of standard corporate templates being used. They specifically address my topic.

One exceptional occasion happened recently. I suggested an added feature in the app which I - and hopefully other users - would find useful. It was low priority and was a 'nice to have', not a 'must have'. Within 48 hours I was amazed and delighted to find the feature had been implemented! McLEAR has got the most attentive, responsive and effective support team.

Above all, I find ring payment still attracts positive attention and interest from shop staff. McLEAR is a great supplier of these. I'm a very happy user and strongly recommend them.

I recently had an exceptional service experience with McLear, Despite my ring encountering a technical glitch at the tills, And despite my ring being out of guarantee, they not only replaced it but also upgraded it, all without any additional charge.

I must commend Clair from McLear's customer service team, who played a pivotal role in resolving my issue. Her assistance was not only prompt but also demonstrated a genuine commitment to customer satisfaction. This level of service is a rare find in today's market.

I've been using payment rings for several years, and without a doubt, McLear offers the best and easiest-to-use ring on the market. The reliability of their technology combined with their outstanding customer support has solidified my loyalty to McLear. I highly recommend McLear to anyone seeking a hassle-free and top-notch payment ring experience.

Update ...

Got my replacement Today just a couple of days after my previous ring stopped working.

I have used these rings for years now and this is by far the best out there. Simple to set up, Easy to keep track of spending and aesthetically pleasing to wear.
The customer service is excellent and once you've used this ring you will feel lost without it.
It really is an essential piece of your everyday life that makes everything so much simpler and faster.
I don't understand why everyone doesn't use this reliable and secure way to pay for anything.

So all that look here after seeing someone use this at the till.. Get one yourself.. they are cheap and its nice when someone reacts like its a magical thing.

But the advantages of super fast secure payments and not having to find your phone or wallet .. That's what this does.

What would you do if you found yourself stranded because you've lost your phone wallet or car keys ?

If you have this ring you can take any form of public transport.. you can buy food .. you can get home.

If you don't have one of the these rings after researching what they do... You are a fool.

Nice ring, could be better

I've had my ring for about a year, I love the convenience and consider it a good purchase. This isn't the first wearable payment tech I have owned, my old Bpay bracelet had the facility to record the long card number and expiry date. This information is important because, that then allows you to register the card on the TFL website and claim for delayed journeys. I don't understand why Mclear can't incorporate this.

Very poor set up experience, app keeps crashing

This has been a very poor experience. The app keeps crashing and then needs to be re-loaded. Then the details need to be updated (again) followed by crashing.. then repeat the re-install procedure. Now waiting again for customer service to advise on what to do next. Irritating that there isn't a phone number. I now am left with a useless fashion accessory. I was also not happy to see that it is likely to only last 3 years. love the concept, utterly hate the product due to the app.

I now have it working.. and can only auto top up by £100 followed by an additional £100 manual top up. relying on auto top up would mean I would struggle to fill up the car or pay for a family meal out. They need to increase the available balance to £500 to make this a viable alternative to carrying a wallet/cards.

Useful as a back up for forgetting your wallet possibly but more suited for a teenager to manage their pocket money than an actual adult.

I really wanted to love this thing. underwhelmed by the experience so far.

Ordered a Ring

Ordered a Ring, and now they asked for an ID documents because of my name. But two of my caucasian friends ordered the same Ring and they haven’t provided an ID documents. McLear needs to be fair with their communication and respond faster not 2-3 days later.

Also some people that I know complaining that their ring lasted 1.5 years, it supposed to be 3 years. Let’s see how it goes.🙏🏼

Hi Ali. We do not discriminate when it comes to our customers. If you were asked to supply ID, it was because our automated eKYC (know your customer) checks failed to match some/all of your information with available info. This could be for many reasons, such as recently moving home, or a typo in the information you supplied during account opening.

Regarding the communication delays, we aim to respond to enquiries within a few hours max, and usually hit this targets with ease. Our account ID team unfortunately do not process manual verification over weekends, so this is perhaps the reason for the delay verifying your information.

I'm sure the team will complete their checks first thing Monday morning for you.

Been ignored by mclear after the ring…

Been ignored by mclear after the ring sizer never arrived, cant get a reply via email so forced to claim a refund via my bank. Also worth mentioning that they claim this product lasts 3 years but the warrenty is only 1 yr…. Theres the scam with this product.. after a year you are stuffed. Thats about £10 a month to own this ring. No thanks

EDIT: youll notice they mention in their reply about breaking your ring but not a dead battery.. also ive been using the internet for 30yrs a reply to an email is always tagged to the initial email, its all lies if you ask me. Either way i got my refund, mclear simply dont want to be clear, -1 against their merchant account is only a good thing

If you haven't had a response from us at all, perhaps check your junk mail folders - as sometimes emails can get caught up in there. If you can't find any messages, please email again, or alternative reach out to us via social media and we'll respond asap. We don't know your name or email address from this post, so are unable to investigate further.

There is no scam here. For example, if you break your ring through negligence, we're unable to keep replacing it for free. However, we recognise accidents can happen and we always try to work with our customers to come to a satisfactory resolution.

Faulty ring after 1.5yr

Had the ring for 1.5yr now and it has been great. I really like the concept of this product.

Unfortunately, my ring's inner and outer section are no longer binded together and the ring no longer works at the same distance it used to. Its very temperamental now.

I raised it with the Mclear team and as it's out of warranty, they could only offer a 20% discount code. Granted they didn't have to offer anything but after being a loyal customer and telling friends to buy the ring, I expected a bit more of a discount.

I'd still recommend the ring but just be wary that it might not last until its expiry.

Crack in my ring

I’ve had my McLEAR payment ring now for about 2 years and it’s been great
I find the app logs me out several time and forces me to reset my password quite often, it may be for security ??
But recently the ring has developed a hairline crack and the out shell came away, the ring still works but keeps falling off .
I’ve contacted McLEAR representative Laura who said the ring should never develop any cracks but could only offer me a 20% discount of a new ring @ £89.00
