Being threatened by these on a daily basis via phone. Because I’m homeless and don’t have a postcode to offer them or know one that they can correlate to an alleged debt then they threaten me even further. Already told them dozens of times that if they are so worried about their investment that they made on an alleged debt and chose to pay off on my behalf, then to serve me with a statutory demand and declare me bankrupt. They ignore all this and keep demanding a postcode despite me being homeless and in various local authority emergency accommodations or schemes for the past three years and keep making harassing calls daily. They’ve now resorted to the automated calls like their sister company Cabot. Advice to anyone is block the number and just delete the automated voice messages each day, failing that, change your number.
This company are a risk for reward operation that risks investing a tiny percentage of an alleged debt paying it off on someone’s behalf in the hope the can threaten someone into paying them the full value of an alleged debt.

I have a payment plan with mortimer and it's very simple to pay each month and if I do have any problems paying online there always very helpful on the phone and they have sent statements quickly to my email if I've needed them 😀. It's only not 5 stars because it's very slow to update payments online.

I have been receiving unsolicited calls from Mortimer Clarke solicitors. The calls are automated and asking me to call them for a private matter.
These are unsolicited calls and are early in the morning.

Context: I’m repaying a debt from the COVID period and paying what I can afford.
What happened
The agent on the phone pressured me to pay £489 per month, despite my budget showing around £500 disposable income after bills.
His tone was, condescending, and forceful—which felt hypocritical given the recorded message about not tolerating abuse toward agents.
While taking my details, he entered incorrect figures into my budget planner and left some items out.
I was asked highly personal questions that didn’t seem relevant to the debt itself.
Why this is a problem
Pushing for £489 out of £500 monthly cash flow is unrealistic and irresponsible.
Inaccurate data entry skews affordability assessments.
The inconsistent guidance is alarming: their website offered 36-month options, yet the agent insisted on 3–4 months.
I left the call feeling belittled, uncomfortable, and misled by the process.
I’ve reported the experience to the Financial Ombudsman Service, as I believe the approach was unreasonable.
Use their website and complete the budget planner carefully yourself.
Keep records (screenshots/notes) of your figures and any offers shown online.
Challenge inaccuracies in your budget if you spot them.
Do your research on your rights and don’t be pressured into unaffordable payments.
The experience was poor from start to finish. Proceed with caution and stand your ground.

Really bad company don't listen to people especially disabled they have broken most of the SRA standards and polocies... please any one have any issues report them to the relevant authorities ther is one that are very interested in this companies activities let's be honest they are corrupt. Don't be bullied like I say they are certain people very interested and building a file againsed these more people complain more can be done to shut them down.

Terrible for communication, doesn't reply to any emails. Payment plan has been set on my end through my bank but they will not acknowledge this through email and threstening me with court even though I've gone through the correct procedure to set up a payment plan, make it make sense

Been trying to get hold of them since the beginning of the year about changing my number to be able to access the online portal. Even after a letter stating this has been done I STILL cannot access this. After multiple emails and not one response I still cannot access the portal which has now caused more hassle. Is it really this hard to change a number? *update in July: annoyingly, it took a Trustpilot review to get my problem resolved. Whoever is in the complaints dept deserves a raise because the speed at which this was sorted was admirable. Still wouldn't want to work with them in the future if it can be helped*

Gangsters in suits!!
Scaremongering, harrassing, threatening the poorest of the poor! Adding on extortionate charges/fees and all they do is talk over you untill they get bored and hang up. The staff are 12yrs old. Every time I want to make a payment on their website it is down! I have complained about this multiple times now. Nobody wants to take ownership of anything when you ring up to report an issue and ask for a timescale of when it will be fixed, never given a straight answer or hung up on! Also have continued to contact me by phone despite being an email only account which is specifically stated on all the correspondence they send to me. Whole company is a shambles and needs investigating. Complaints team are just as useless, never accept responsibility for when their systems are down (which is pretty much regularly).

I sent this letter to Mortimer Clarke who is Cabots lawyers handling the case. They heard all of this from me personally as well as in letter form and rejected it, and are making me pay nearly £100 a month which I had told them was the last of my money left, after all my outgoings come out of my wages . I am 52 and have a constant doom feeling in my stomach because I needed that last £100 for last minute hospital visits or to collect my daughter from school if she has an accident or becomes ill. They have taken my last piece of dignity from me.

Please find enclosed my application for suspension of warrant of control from Cabot financial.
It was never my intention to cease payments that I had done for 4 years with my previous payment plan. I cancelled my direct debit with Cabot in February due to a very dire financial situation I found myself in after the craziness of Christmas and the current extortionate price of food in the supermarkets . I meant to reinstate the direct debit in March but due to various ongoing medical issues with my health I forgot to do so.
Currently I am under NHS consultation for the following issues
• All over body Osteoarthritis
• Right side abdominal hernia with Lipoma
• Hypothyroidism (Underactive)
• Depression, serial migraine sufferer since 1992
• Odemas in both feet
• Diagnosed Obesity.
All of these issues have severely affected my mobility and it has resulted in my having to get taxis to and from work with a monthly cost of over £400. I have applied for an Access to work grant but that will take a few more months before it is approved, I have also applied for a blue badge such is the severity of my condition.
I have enclosed a PDF printout of my last payment to Cabot , as you can see I was paying £10 a month and my offer is to resume making that same monthly amount.

I hope that my proposal is acceptable , please contact me asap to resume the direct debit payments .

I have gone through the complaints procedure and now have an offer either complete the ccj paper work which they will likley decline my reasonable offer as they think i can afford it, or arrange to pay the debt in 3 months. Once again my personal situation has not been taken I to account, all I can say is I hope the members of the company have sleepless nights and anxious days as I do. I am now applying for a loan to get these vultures off my back once and for all. You win. Disgusting.

am disgusted in the way this company have treated me. I have an old debt and was paying monthly, I hit some financial hardship and spoke to them and had to cancel the direct debit. Life got in the way and I forgot to re set it. I called them to re set and they were pretty much demanding I paid an amount which I know would leave me struggling. I offered them an amount I thought i could mange, they refused this offer. I set the payment up anyway and have been paying this. Yesterday I recieved a ccj letter. The debt is now higher and I can't fight my corner without the possibility of more costs being added. I am so disgusted that they believe by sending a few numbers they can predict what you can afford. I live my life and my situation and know the reality of what I can afford without it impacting my life in too much of a negative way. Appalling treatment when I feel.i had made a reasonable offer.

Absolute disgrace. I had money wrongly taken from my account, phoned up to speak to someone. The guy who I got through to told me that he couldn't do anything until the 9th. Asked for a letter just stating what had been paid and when etc and he told me that he couldn't do that for 15 days as he didnt have the correct equipment. Requested a call back that never happened. I'm going to report them to the financial ombudsman if I can.
Looking at the score and all of the other bad reviews, something should be done about them. Disgraceful !!
