Inaccurate pickup instructions with Budget

First, I wasn't thrilled about my reservation being handed off to a large rental company (Budget) where I would have no idea what car I would actually get. But the real issue was that the Movly reservation said that I should go to their express/VIP line, if they had one. They did, and so I was in that line for almost 30 minutes (it was still way shorter than the general line), only to be told that I was NOT eligible for the preferred line and that I had to go to the back of the general line. While I was in the general line, I overheard another party get turned away from the VIP line with a Movly reservation, and the car rental agent said this was like the 5th or 6th time that day. This added a half hour to what would have already been a multi-hour-long wait after a long flight. Movly needs to get their agreements right with their partners. Don't tell people they are eligible for special treatment/perks if that is not in fact true.

I had a problem and was unable to pick…

I had a problem and was unable to pick up my Movly rental car as scheduled. I lost my phone during travel to Boston and did not have a way to receive my Movly instructions on how/where to pick up the car. No one at Logan airport car rental knew anything about Movly. My problem but I ended up renting a car from another rental company at 5x the cost of Movly.

We have two issues.

We have two issues.
Issue 1 - Excessive wait time (over one hour) at the Budget rental counter.
Issue 2 - We returned the car with a full tank of gas, but Budget billed us for an empty tank. Fortunately, I took pictures of the gauges before returning the car, which proved that the gas tank was full. Budget eventually credited the amount back to my credit card. Other than that, the car ran great, and we are happy with it.

Easy and affordable

The process was easy and affordable! We needed an upgrade due to weather and it was an easy switch. Pick up and drop off was easy too! I will absolutely use them next time.

Cost of extension excessive.

Due to a flight cancellation, we had to extend our car rental by 12 hours. The amount Movly initially quoted for the change was over $300 USD. Eventually it was reduced but we still ended up paying $190 USD just for an extension of 1/2 a day. It felt like price gouging.

It would have been cheaper to return the car at the original time, and just rent again for another day.

Paid for Toyota RAV4 but got a Kia SUV Instead

The Budget rental car counter did not honor the rental instruction that I was instructed to go to the Fastbreak counter to transact the rental. As a result, I had to wait over 1 hour at the regular line. Even though I am a Fastbreak member.
Also, I paid additional rental fee for a Toyota RAV4 rental car, I was given a Kia SUV instead.

Overall

Overall, our experience was good. The only problem was that it was unclear from the Movly documentation whether to check in with Budget or Thrifty. Took some time to sort out.

hesitant at first but glad I tried it, worked great!

I was hesitant at first because I had never heard of Movly before, but I decided to give it a try anyway as it was significantly more affordable than other car rental options. The communication was clear throughout the process, I followed all the steps and it worked out smoothly. The only minor hiccup was that it directed me to collect the car from a certain counter (I think it was the preferred counter for that brand) so we followed those instructions and waited in line, and when we got to the front they told us since we don't have preferred membership with this brand, we need to go wait in the normal line, which at that point had grown longer. So we lost quite some time waiting in lines. But overall it wasn't too bad, and was a huge savings on the car rental. Would definitely use Movly again.

Super easy

Super easy. My only reservation about using Movly again, is not getting to choose the rental car company. Anyway, everything went fairly smoothly for a good price

Booking a rental was easy - the rest not so much

Booking a rental was easy. Instructions once we arrived at our destination were inaccurate. We were instructed to go to the "Fast Break" area to pick up our keys but the vendor had no information on our rental via Movly. We were not offered or checked on insurance or any other services.

The car broke down on the rental and We have to call roadside assistance for something that was not our fault. We have been billed for it to the tune of over @120.00 USD. Plus we had to interrupt our vacation to swap the defective and unreliable car.

I received a good car at a fair price…

I received a good car at a fair price compared to other rentals who were much more expensive. Pick up & drop off for vehicle went smooth. The price I was quoted was exactly the price I was charged.

Budget/Avis Negative Experience

A number of things went wrong with Budget/Avis. When we arrived in Lihue, Kauai, to pick up our reserved rental at just before midnight there was a long line of customers renting vehicles and only three rental agents. It took over 45 minutes to get to the counter. When we did we were given an Altima instead of the Toyota Rav4 we had rented. The agent told me that they were out of the Rav4 or similar models but we could return the next day for the same type of model we had rented. I told her we were staying in Poipu. She said to come back if we wanted a vehicle similar to what we had rented. The next day we returned to your Lihue office (the round trip was about 27 miles). We drove nowhere else. I returned the vehicle without adding any gasoline since Budget required the trip. After a wait at the Budget office I was given another vehicle similar to what we had rented. It was a nice model larger than we had requested but filthy with used tissues, sand, food wrappings, sand and torn up newspaper. As we left the airport to drive back to Poipu the fuel indicator dropped a notch off full. It took us about two hours to return the first vehicle and get back to Poipu. While using the replacement vehicle I filled the gasoline up and watched the fuel gauge. It took 74 miles of driving to drop the first indicator. So I assume that it was close to 3 gallons low when given to us as full. Regardless I returned the vehicle with a full tank. I was shocked when I received the E-receipt for the rental and discovered that I had been charged $26.60 for fuel with a notation that the gas gauge read 7/8s full. The first vehicle mileage was clocked at 11 miles total which was wrong. The second vehicle had more than double the mileage attributed to it than what we actually drove and a fuel gauge that did not register in 1/8s. I believe that the second vehicle had not been checked in when it was given to us. I have provided this statement to Budget and received no response. After waiting two weeks for a response I had my credit card company successfully contest the fuel charge.

A NERVOUS WAIT

The process was smooth. The car was as expected and at a great rate. It was easy to book, found you on Kayak, and was arrange through a major rental company desk at the airport.

Easy Peasy

The process to rent a car with Movly was surprisingly simple from app to keys! I did not have any issues and they were very responsive to questions. I would use again to rent a car with ease.
