I only looked at the news videos to look for an alternative to YouTube. Not a single negative video on anything the left loves. It seems like all the content creators are socialists or communists.

The website has a confusing layout, they've blurred the lines A LOT between what a channel/creator and series are compared to YouTube and it's just very confusing to navigate.
An example, I'll start watching 17Pages, recognise the creator/narrator's voice as BobbyBroccoli... but NOWHERE on the 17Pages webpage or video on Nebula does it say it is him apart from the use of his real name at the top of the banner... But I didn't know his real name until I looked it up and made the connection. (this is nothing against this creator specifically, I'm just using this documentary as an example).

More points lost for the constant buffering issues, I don't know if it's their servers, the video player they use, the browser, something else... But in higher resolutions, the video will constantly buffer despite a 10GbE connection.

The idea is fantastic, but the overall execution is shoddy and it kind of just feels like there's no proper direction to the website, just an invite-only club to show off.

The content really got better over time. Most of it is a bit niche, but I love it. Unfortunately I had some buffer issues (I think only in the evening).

Signed up for nebula around 3 years ago, so far no buffering like the others mentioned, and it was generous of them to let us keep the curiositystream bundle after they cut ties. Overall, it is great
Edit: forgot to mention that i had to switch to nebula after november of 2024, but i was fine with it because it was to give their creators a more fair revenue

Nebula has a lot that helps it stand out. I've never had issues streaming, which is a typical problem for relatively new streaming services.

They have a good selection of content creators. These are definitely the 'quality' content creators, with none of the garbage and slop content you find on YT. This can be one of their problems in a way - the content seems really limited, and I often have to go back to YT just because I have little interest in what is on the platform.

Why I didn't renew my subscription though is the controversy around Second Thought being booted from the platform. Nebula requested that a video the Gaza Genocide have 'both sides' represented in it. This is a clear sign of zionist influence with the company. Israel has the wealth and influence of USA and Germany backing it, along with the considerable influence of Mossad. They don't need any help getting out 'their side.'

I contacted Nebula to get more information, and get their side. They chose to lie to me and said they didn't know anything about this. I was saddened by this response. It is possible there was a reasonable way explain themselves. Heck, they could just say something I really didn't like and that would have been better than treating me like an idiot and lying to me.

Lastly, in the age when American Imperialism causes it make explicit threats against its closes allies, do we really need another content platform headquartered in the USA?

The silver lining is this can all be rectified.
1) move your headquarters out of the USA.
2) make a meaningful commitment to human rights and take a stand against crimes against humanity.
3) be open and honest with your customers, even when the topic is a tricky one.

Not sure what all the negative reviews are from, unless they're all YouTube employees lol. I haven't had any problems with videos loading or overcharging. It's true the content is limited though. It's great content but they need more creators to get on board.

I love this site, and originally got the subscibtion due to the Jet Lag show, but found loads of other shows that I enjoy.

I recently ordered something from the store and had a lot of trouble with the delivery, which were send back due to adress issues. They were so helpful and resend it to a new adress with no extra charge. Since there is high demand it took them some time to deliver, and since I am moving soon I asked whether they had an estimate or if I should change the adress again. The package then arrived shortly after! Great care and service, which is so rare these days, especially online. Keep it up!

At the time I was subscribed, Nebula did not offer any sort of filtering or way to block specific channels. And, while they did advertise themselves as being 'free from an algorithm', this meant it could be gamed in other ways. Notably through sheer content spam.

This meant certain channels tended to end up crowding out the front page by posting multiple videos a day, burying actually good content. It didn't help that some of those channels also started posting offensive content, but again under their policy of non-censorship, combined with no way to block those creators, led to turning the frontpage where you might find new creators into a quagmire of slop.

They continue to take money out of my account despite requesting to close. Forced to cancel my card. Avoid

Overcharged and customer service does not reply. Content is limited too. Avoid.

It's a small platform created by content creators who are looking at delivering quality content with no ads and big tech censorship. It works pretty well for me, of course some of the content is on YouTube as they try to monetize their content, but there is also some exclusive content.

Never use nebula they emptied my account without my permission they tricked me some how and won’t return my money, I have no money to even feed me or my horses

Nebula has a few issues with slow loading times when scrubbing through a video and the app crashing but it works 99% of the time. Offers no ads for the videos that are available on YouTube along with extended versions, behind the scenes content, early access and original content. Don't have too many complaints but would love to see a way for Nebula to automatically download new videos from creators every night so they are ready each day.

Did my order, but wanted to cancel. Send an email but never got a response. Suddenly my package has been shipped. 3 days later still no response.

I got an email from them to inform me that my annual subscription was about to renew, but I had no recollection of ever having joined them. I mailed to ask about this, and got an immediate, very courteous reply.
They cancelled the subscription and are refunding all but the first month's fees with absolutely no quibble. Very impressed with their customer service speed of response and attitude in general. Excellent !

It just doesn't work as well as the competition. I want to like it but I can't because I find miyself watching the Videos on youtube with ads (or adblocker) instead, due to Nebula's performance issues. Can't really recommend.

It's a decent streaming service for the value, but when I watch Youtube, I rarely get political opinions that I don't ask for. On Nebula, all of the videos I have seen to date seem to be made by center-left to left-wing content creators, which is fine, but it would be nice to either not be able to figure out the political views of every single content creator within 5 seconds of most of the videos, or just AT LEAST have a bit of variety. Maybe a few center-right to right-wing, and maybe some green party or Libertarians thrown in the mix as well.

TLDR: Decent content, but it all feels like opinion pieces.

Close to meaningless; works mostly like an aggregator with very little original content unavailable through eg youtube.
To add insult to injury, once I had set up an account and subscribed, the Nebula-TV profile/account page did not provide a way to cancel the subscription (only an extension/renew button is visible). I therefore ended up deleting my account, thereby obviously missing out on the remaining time of my subscription.
This practice of making it difficult for existing subscribers to cancel is something even the nytimes.com people have stopped doing once they realized that it truly pisses people off and is not the way to build a long term reputation as a reliable and trustworthy service provider.
