Netgem PLEIO is a new all-IP and Freely-enabled streaming service. We call this hand-sized and portable device “the puck”. We made it for consumers to WATCH, STREAM and PLAY.

To WATCH, we have included free streaming platform Freely, with live and on demand TV (including the BBC, ITV, Channel 4 and 5), alongside 150+ extra channels.

To STREAM, we have included access to the Google Play Store, where users can enjoy Netflix, Amazon Prime, NOW, Disney+, Apple TV, YouTube and hundreds more apps.

To PLAY, we have included 250+ Cloud Games (and a gamepad). All delivered seamlessly, over WiFi.

PLEIO is available in retail, and bundled via ISPs as a fully managed white-label service.

Does what it says

Does what it says. Small and discreet. Nice picture on TV unlike aerial satellite which can be affected by weather and trees.

Love everything about it.

Love everything about the TV and streaming capabilities, the voice activation, and compactness. The game section is fun too.

Horrible little device

Horrible little device, slow and clunky. Because of the way it's had to be set up there's two entirely different instances of the same apps in many cases, there's no longer Google TV's home screen with it's recommendations and the device is entirely locked down so you cant change to your own launcher etc. If you only want to watch TV channels and a little streaming from apps and you've given up on life then this device will be fine, but if you're used to having a streaming TV box and being able to customise it this isnt for you. This should be £50 max without all the games and controller etc as a cheap alternative to a non-recordable Freeview box or a £100 device that's powerful and snappy. It's neither of these but still £100 or more. The extra they charge gives you access to laggy web-streamed games and FAST TV channels for 12 months, id be surprised if ANYONE chooses to subscribe monthly after this. Mine went straight back to Amazon within 3 days..

A Secure Ecosystem: You mentioned the device is "locked down." This is a deliberate choice. By preventing the sideloading of external apps, which can often be used to access unauthorized or illegal content, we ensure our platform remains a secure, high-quality environment for our users and our content partners.

Gaming Performance: Our library features well-known, high-performance titles. Since our device is entirely IP-based and relies on your Wi-Fi connection, the "lag" you experienced is typically a result of local network interference or bandwidth fluctuations. Most of our users enjoy a smooth, high-definition gaming experience on standard high-speed home Wi-Fi.

A Developing Interface: We are constantly evolving the UI. Our recent updates include the rollout of "For You" and "Continue Watching" features.

Our goal is to provide a premium, "plug-and-play" alternative to generic streaming sticks. We understand that power users who prefer total customisation may find our curated approach restrictive, but for those looking for a legal, all-in-one entertainment and gaming hub, we believe it offers great value.

having no aerial in my room i always…

having no aerial in my room i always relied on the apps to get live tv and was a pain. now i can just simply change channel and watch via freely. to be honest its the only thing i use i dont bother with the games

Perfect for Freely TV

It's ideal and a perfect solution for terrestrial TV using Freely,, which is what I got it for as 8 haven't got an aerial or Freely TV
Apps are all from Play Store, so anything you have on your phone is usually there for Android TV as well.
Games aren't the best, do t expect 5* games, but that's expected for a device this cheap. I haven't checked to see if you can buy games for it though.
I find the controller to be very average and not that responsive, at least from my small use on it.
When streaming on there I do find that it disconnects from the internet intermittently though, but it's just a warning comes up saying that it's disconnected and seconds later it's connected again, this and the controller issue is the only reason to drop 1 star.
I find the box excellent and value for money and would highly recommend it especially as a beginner guide for gaming for kids.

Thank you so much for the detailed review! We’re thrilled to hear that the PLEIO puck is the perfect solution for your aerial-free setup, and that the whole family are enjoying the games.

We’d love to help you smooth out those minor connectivity alerts you mentioned. Since the device relies entirely on Wi-Fi, the signal strength is quite important; moving your Wi-Fi router a bit closer to the puck (or ensuring there aren't many physical obstructions between them) should help stabilise the connection and stop those intermittent "disconnected" messages from appearing.

Regarding the controller responsiveness, a quick system restart (simply unplugging the power for 10 seconds and plugging it back in) can often help "refresh" the Bluetooth connection and make the navigation feel much snappier.

We really appreciate the 4-star rating and the recommendation for other families. We also appreciate the feedback on the controller, we'll certainly pass your comments on responsiveness to our hardware team.

I purchased one of these a few weeks…

I purchased one of these a few weeks ago and wrote my review then, I now wish to update my review after having used it for a few weeks.
Initially I had a problem with the puck responding erratically to the handset , this turned out to be that the batteries supplied with the puck ( brand new and sealed) were very low in power, once changed the issue was sorted, I also had a problem where the puck would not fully pick up my WiFi signal when I put the puck behind the TV, after some experimenting I ended up putting the puck on the rear if the TV but as low as possible and that problem has also now sorted that problem , So 2 weeks in and what problems remain, well basically NONE , the Freely software has a couple of oddments about it, sometimes the information at the bottom of the screen disappears within a few seconds, sometimes you have to push the back button for it to go so simply make it that you push the back button each time, sometimes you can push the guide button from an application and it shows , sometimes not, simply make sure you navigate to the home button each time before pushing the guide button, and on some stations if you miss a program, you have to wait up to an hour before you can watch it on catch-up , can be a bit of a pain when you are used to having plus 1 channels but not the end of the world, but all told it works really well and is simple to use, well worth the money

Worth buying

value for money! Easy setup, smooth 4K streaming, plenty of live TV channels, and cloud gaming works surprisingly well with the gamepad and voice remote

Love the product!

Great customer service!!! It took me a while to get my hands on stock for the pleio as it was always sold out, but they were really responsive through their website and let me know it was back in stock. Been using it for about two weeks and it's exactly what I wanted. Not sure if I'll continue paying the subscription for the games and other channels, but well worth it anyway.

Room for improvement.

I found the Pleio very easy to set up and I am very pleased with the picture and sound quality. However the microphone button when working is a great feature but it stops working and the only remedy is to unpair and set up again. This happens regularly and is very frustrating. A great addition would be the ability to jump 24 hours in the programme guide instead of endless scrolling backwards and forwards. On rare occasions when I choose a channel the screen goes black and the only remedy is a restart. Hopefully future software updates will solve these problems and improve the experience of watching Freely. One final question do owners of the Pleio puck get notifications of any software updates?

Great technical support from Netgem.

After using my Netgem PLEIO for approximately two weeks, I encountered a problem with the built-in Channel 4 streaming app just before Christmas 2025. The app was unable to play any on-demand content.

I called Netgem support on 12th January 2026 and explained the problem and sent some screen shots showing the error message. I received a reply within 30 minutes with a suggested workaround which involved clearing the cache in the app.

Implementing this suggestion fixed the problem and now the Channel 4 app works perfectly on the PLEIO, as do all the other apps and of course Freely.

The PLEIO has now been in daily use for one month and continues to work perfectly. So the Netgem PLEIO is an excellent device and is backed up with great support. Thank you Netgem.

Pleio review update.

I've already reviewed the Pleio once but wanted to update it. I installed a large update a few days ago after which my Freely channels switched from NW to London. I tried everything to reset it without any success and eventually had to do a factory reset. That worked and I was very careful to get my postcode correct when reinstalling. I now have additional apps, including Tidal, so I'm really pleased with my Pleio. I've briefly tried out a game which worked well, but I'm not into gaming really. Anyway, I'm now tending to use Freely more that Freesat because it's very convenient and I get excellent picture quality. I look forward to the extra channels arriving and see Freely as the future of TV.

A nice gadget, but a few glitches and poor pause function

A nice gadget, received just in time for Christmas as tv Ariel broke.

Mostly fine

I wish it would go straight to the tv channels when you turn on , but instead it goes to the HOME button icon and you then need to move down to channels, but that’s a minor issue

My big criticism is the very short period of time you can pause the tv, ie 5 minutes , and then you can’t rewind or forward it afterwards and the biggest annoyance is when you do pause it when watching a show on the catch service like the bbc I player , it does not play again without logging out of the bbc I player and back in again, or the other streaming services like itv x, but a quick email to customer services meant they replicated the issue, and offered a quick fix of extending the screensaver time and an assurance it will be put forward for the next software upgrade.

It’s also hard to add an app to the Home Screen.

A few little glitches happen such as sound is lost for about two seconds quite often, and little niggles things like diverting to you tube channel sometimes , but these are rare, and again the customer services quickly tried to recover these issues by sending a replacement, but the sound issues still remain, albeit it seems less.

The customer service has been exemplary, with replies to emails in a day and a genuine commitment to fixing the problem

The freely app black screen

The freely app often gives a black screen or poor sound with a constant clicking. This happens when I turn it on after being in standby overnight. The other apps like netflix or iPlayer still work when this happens. Restarting the pleio fixes it, but a pain to do each time

Netgem PLEIO Puk is a fab addition to…

Netgem PLEIO Puk is a fab addition to my home entertainment set up offering easy navigation between apps & live TV via internet, especially on older TV which aren't yet smart. As such portability is great & unobtrusive especially offering a wide range of gaming with excellent graphics.

Not compatible with Sideloading Apps.

This has the potential to be a really good (and useful) device. Unfortunately, it doesn't currently allow for sideloading which is a major drawback against alternative streaming devices.

Otherwise it works really well and is a good quality product with a simple user interface.

Our product uses an officially approved, Google-certified launcher and is fully certified by all major content partners, including BBC, ITV, Channel 4, Channel 5, as well as Netflix and Amazon. Amazing!

Smooth, fluid interface with full Andriod TV functionality. Has everything you would ever need as someone watching TV. Overall just a great experience
