Excellent service Bromsgrove NewMedica
Shannon, Gesire and Imogen provided a thorough, efficient and excellent service at Bromsgrove NewMedica Centre
No apology for length of time waiting
No apology for length of time waiting. Consultants spend more time interacting with each other rather than patients!

Superb Service from initial enquiry and first appointment where the receptionist was very polite, helpful and reassuring through the free taxi service collecting and returning you, to the short but excellent attention from all the professionals and better still the excellent results in my sight after a total of approx. 30 minutes with the New Medica staff in Abingdon.
The standard that the NHS should aim for
Thank you all so much
I couldn’t be happier with my surgery
I couldn’t be happier with my experience at Newmedica Whiteley/Fareham. I have now had both of my cataracts removed, and from start to finish, everything was handled with such professionalism, care and attention to detail.
The clinic was exceptionally clean and well maintained, and all the staff were wonderful. From the receptionists to the pre-operative team, nurses and surgeons, everyone was kind, friendly, attentive and highly skilled. I felt very well looked after throughout both procedures and never once felt that I was treated any differently because my surgery was NHS-funded rather than private.
Even my friend, who drove me to the clinic, commented on how friendly everyone was while she was sitting waiting for me during my surgery. She said that every member of staff who walked past her gave her a smile, which I thought was such a lovely reflection of how welcoming and caring the whole team were.
The team took the time to explain every step of the process, answered all my questions and made sure I felt comfortable and reassured. Both procedures were smooth and completely stress-free, and the recovery was much quicker and easier than I expected, thanks to the excellent advice, guidance and support I received.
On two occasions, I contacted the clinic because I was concerned about my right eye, as it had become very dry. Each time, the staff were extremely reassuring and helpful. Thankfully, the problem had completely settled by the following day. Their care, patience and willingness to help gave me great confidence throughout my recovery.
My surgeon for both eyes was Serafeim Antonakis. He was a lovely man who immediately put me at ease on both occasions. His professionalism, expertise and reassuring manner made a real difference to my experience, and I am extremely grateful for the care he provided.
I am incredibly grateful to everyone at Newmedica for their outstanding care, professionalism and expertise. They made what could have been a worrying experience feel straightforward, comfortable and reassuring from beginning to end.
I would highly recommend Newmedica Whiteley/Fareham to anyone considering cataract surgery. The whole experience was simply amazing, and I cannot thank the entire team enough.
An amazing team of people!
I have just had two cataract surgeries with Newmedica, lakeside, Norwich and I cannot praise the service, the staff and the procedures highly enough. Even the premises layout offers both privacy and a sense of both security and competence. The staff in particular are truelly committed, caring, kind and very competent to the highest standards. They are all amazing dedicated individuals and I would love to mention some names, but honestly you would be reading this still in two hours time.
The procedures for cataracts have been very carefully engineered and several Important stages exist, whilst the actual surgery takes barely 10 minutes. But the very careful attention to detail leaves no loopholes, or unanswered questions. The level of competence is truely amazing and extends to all staff including those who manage reception who can answer virtually any questions and concerns immediately. All of this indicates a very high degree of training, an elevated corporate expectation upon all staff to deliver a standard that has few equals. And having spent a good deal of time with there with many of the staff I cannot question the ability, the competence, the dedication of the individuals I encountered. Regardless of your fears, your concerns you will find newmedica Norwich and its staff well able to carefully handle your sight issues and insecurities fully and completely, to your complete satisfaction.
Best wishes, thanks Justin, Omar,( the Teddy bear) and the drop dead gorgeous South African lassie with a stratospheric intelligence quotient ( and a Portuguese passport)and such perfect teeth, they should be cloned. Actually she should be cloned!
My first surgeon, straight out of baywatch, I Actually saw Pamela Anderson in the carpark looking after his surfboard. So handsome a smile would melt female knicker elastic for 3 miles in every direction.
Thanks to the lady whose name I never caught who dropped water gently into my left eye (2nd op) and didn't treat my as eye as practice for a 2nd World War bombing run on dresden.
And there are so many more. Thank you, thank you, one and all. No better collection of lovely, fabulous people.
Chris.
I have had two operations at Newmedica…
I have had two operations at Newmedica Newcastle, both carried out by Miss Lucy Clarke, a brow lift fallowed by reduction of both upper eyelids.
The entire experience from first consultation to post op telephone call has been exemplary. Miss Clarke and her team are not only consummate professionals in their field but compassionate and empathetic, fully understanding the natural concerns of their patients and relaxing them, through warm welcome at reception, pre op assessment, the surgery itself and providing a welcome post op cup of mochachino and booking a return home NHS car.
I cannot thank nor praise Newmedica enough and yes, would strongly recommend them to anyone in need of their clinical expertise.
Thank you again Miss Clarke🙏🏻 with deep respect for what you do for others.
The experience from start to finish was…Excellent service
The experience from start to finish was excellent. All the members of staff I encountered ,namely Jen,Molly,Danica,Mr.Jackson,Steve/Tia and Mel were very pleasant and helpful and made the experience less stressfull. My original appointment for cataract surgery was the 25 August but I was offered a cancellation so from assessment to operation was only about 2 weeks.
Welcoming & professional
Welcoming staff, expert attention, professional advice, helpful.
Leeds- exceptional receptionist- even…
Leeds- exceptional receptionist- even got my coffee from machine whilst I filled in form. All staff more informative than I have ever experienced at my local hospital. Kind and caring
Painful and unpleasant experience
I had cataract surgery on the NHS at Newmedica, Leeds, on April 19, 2026. It was an appalling, painful experience and during the procedure the surgeon asked if I wanted him to stop and to have it done under general anaesthetic in hospital. I'd checked the patient information material beforehand and was expecting a pain free experience but my screams were heard in the waiting room. I'm too frightened to return to have the second eye done at this business and I'm getting booked in at my local hospital to have the surgery under general anaesthetic. My first complaint to Newmedica was ignored, apparently it was treated as a phishing email which was pretty unprofessional. Neither did the three people I saw for a check-up afterwards at my local Newmedica office seem to know anything about my experience which I found extraordinary, given my complaints. The outcome to my vision has been good but the experience was shocking.
Complaint dealt with satisfactory
Had a pre cataract assessment at Newmedica, Barnwood, Gloucester, having travelled from South Wales. for a second cataract removal after referral by the Welsh NHS. The first cataract removal was completed in March this year without problem.
Having had a few checks, and asked about my eyesight I mentioned my eyesight was much improved after the first op, and was finding things easier to drive and to read whilst using my glasses.
I was told after the third assessment that they could not offer a cataract removal due to my improved vision.Surely this would have happened due to the first cataract removal?
I was then told I may need laser treatment on the eye which had the cataract removed, even though after examination she insisted no dilation drops had been put in both eyes, which was not the case. If that is the case how could she say I may need laser treatment?
Asked her to clarify why they would not remove the second cataract, and was told, I have already discussed with you.
I feel I was treated in a very offhand way, and in a condescending manner.
I completely wasted a day travelling back and forth to Newmedica.
I would add that the first cataract operation I was told I had two cataracts which needed removal, and in any case I was originally referred by my Optician, had the eye examined after the first removal, who told me he was recommending a cataract removal?
I am not really sure if this refusal was down to Newmedica as I was an NHS patient or a cost saving exercise.
I would definitely not recommend Newmedica.
UPDATED REVIEW 6th August 2026
Following a a discussion with a senior member of staff at Newmedica, my complaint has now been dealt with in a very satisfactory manner. They have now looked at the original outcome of my visit and made plans for a future appointment to arrange for the removal of the cataract on my right eye, subject to approval via Wales NHS .
Many thanks for your help in this matter./
Two successful cataract ops
I had two operations at Newmedica Abingdon for cataracts. The second, after a lengthy wait, was in February 2026. On both occasions I found the staff impeccably kind, polite and reassuring, and my experience the second time was even better because the surgeon was even more informative during the op, so I knew what was going on. I am very squeamish around anything to do with my eyes, so needed a lot of hand holding, literally, and the lovely nurses obliged.
I had retinal surgery in October 2025…
I had retinal surgery in October 2025 and could not have had better care and treatment. The clinic is pleasant, spotlessly clean and, without exception, every person I met was polite, friendly, kind and ensured that I was well aware of what the operation comprised. I would certainly chose Newmedica again and can thoroughly recommend the entire staff from the most senior to the most junior.
Was referred to Newmedica on the NHS…
Was referred to Newmedica on the NHS for cataract surgery. First cataract operation was okay.second operation performed by a different surgeon on my left eye was uncomfortable as the anaesthetic drops were administered too early and wore off by the time the surgeon started the operation, who was also too busy chatting to staff during the surgery. I found that my vision deteriorated post operatively. I rang the clinic and was advised that this was part of the healing process. Turned out to be a detached retina. I have since had 7 operations, the last one was very painful, the retinal surgeon told me to keep still, I was first on the list and due to all the scar tissue my surgery was taking longer than expected and I feel as though the operation was rushed. Poor post operative care and the issues I raised during recovery period went ignored. I was left 12 days with my macular off and I am now blind in my left eye. Surgeon has transferred my care to an NHS hospital and a different consultant. I feel that Newmedica are only interested and have time for their private patients.
Newmedica at Worksop & Barlborough for Cataract Surgery
I attended Newmedica at Worksop for assessment following a referral from Vision express. All of the staff were great, took time to explain everything, taking great care and answering all of my questions. After all of the tests I was offered an appointment at Newmedica Barlborough just 2 days later on Good Friday!
I attended Newmedica Barlborough at the allotted time, again all of the staff were brilliant. I went upstairs on time to start the surgery process (medical history, drops for dilatation and anaesthetic etc). Again, the nurse doing all of the prep was wonderful, whilst I didnt of any fears, some others did and she had a lovely way at putting patients at ease.
After a few minutes I was taken to theatre and made very comfortable on their table. The surgen explained everything as well as telling me the various stages as he worked. At no time was there the slightest discomfort only the feeling of running water, a little pressure and a very bright light. I was amazed when he said that's it, were done, so quick and pain free.
Through to the recovery area my vision was immediately improved, nice cup of tea while another nurse explained the do's / dont's and drops.
Ten minutes later I was walking out of the door after just over an hour since I arrived.
Team NEWMEDICA BARLBOROUGH you're the best!
Having catteract surgery on two…
Having catteract surgery on two occasions over a 2 months period including the fitting of stents in each eye, I can only praise the professional service and care given to me by every single member of staff at Newmedica Worcester.
Having been referred originally to the CHEC clinic in Worcester where over a period of some 2 yrs all that was done were pressure checks and told to keep taking the eye drops, it shows the difference between professional care and amateur care.
Newmedica staff and DR Sharma you have given me back my quality of visual sight, for which I am so grateful. Thank you.
Attended Newmedica, Bristol.
Attended Newmedica, Bristol on 8th and 20th February 2026 to have both eye cataracts removed. The treatment and care I received on both dates was excellent. My thanks to both surgeons, Omar and Gemma and all the staff in attendance.
Wonderful staff and good experience
The friendly staff including porter, receptionists, pre op staff and surgeons. I felt very well looked after. I had both cataracts removed firstly on 16th Jan secondly , 7th Feb. Both paid for by the NHS but I didn't feel they treated me any differently from a private patient. I phoned them twice as I was concerned about a slight redness in eye (which went the following day) they were very reassuring. It's now over 4 weeks since my last op. I appreciate everything which was done for me and by the way their coffee machine does good coffee !
