I completed my training in April 2026 with NextGen Aviation and successfully passed the AJX screening thanks to the excellent support from the team.
Before travelling to Tokyo, I had a video call with Mike which was extremely helpful for guiding my revision and making sure I focused on the right areas.
Once in Tokyo, I completed two simulator sessions with Gerry. He struck exactly the right balance in terms of pressure and preparation, which is important as the process is challenging. He pushed me where needed while keeping everything constructive and focused.
I would strongly recommend doing as many training sessions as possible before the screening. The preparation made a real difference, and everything in the assessment was as expected on the day.
Gerry also shared a lot of valuable advice throughout the process. I genuinely don’t think I would have passed without the support and professionalism of the team at NextGen Aviation. Highly recommended.

I completed sim preparation with Nexgen ahead of my Air Japan assessment in December 2025 and found the training to be invaluable. Whilst I had prepared thoroughly on my own, there is no doubt that the investment I made in doing the training was the difference between passing and failing. The assessment itself is far more involved than any other that I have experienced. The Nexgen instructors not only have a deep understanding of what is expected in the Air Japan assessment, but also bring real-world experience from their own careers in Japan, which adds significant value. I had no idea just how helpful they would be, not only during the sim sessions but throughout the entire two-month build-up to the interview. The process from organising, brief and the sim was very professional. The instructor was incredibly experienced, and managed to make sure we get the most exposure to the process as possible. During the sim he picked up my weak points very quickly and I could notice a great difference from the start of the session. Had a lot of fun, and learned a lots of valuable skills.

Capt. Mike Sommer was probably one of the best instructor pilots I have ever met so far. He was heart-warming and caring every way. He did not hesitate to give extra time and energy to teach and guide.
