This kiosk establishes a foothold for artificial intelligence to work their way into hospitality roles, and replace human jobs
This is disheartening that customer service jobs are now moving to automated intelligence and dispenser machines for roles that are meant for hospitality and human interaction. The employee at the kiosk was professional however, he specifically told me that a room that was a smoking room was not. I only knew that he was wrong because I stayed in that exact room the night before. The transaction was substantially longer and more confusing than a traditional, human to human interaction. Next tap Claims that its business model is to only fulfill the gap during unstaffed hours. However, this is the introduction of AI for patrons of hotels. I cannot only speculate but promise that businesses always have a plan for growth. If consumers honestly believe that next taps involvement claiming they only fulfill the gaps during unstaffed hours is the only market and growth that they are looking to achieve and not to fulfill or re-place physical staff you are wrong. It’s just like any other policy that is enforced in society. Once AI is acceptable and it has a foothold in any industry it is going to become common place and socially acceptable. If I could give this experience a zero star rating I would. Next tap only exists to limit overhead for owners of hotels. This kiosk is not here for your comfort or convenience. If I had a guess what next taps reply would be to this post. They would probably say it provides a more safe interaction between patrons and staff during the night hours as a justification for the necessity of the kiosk.
