Alot of the people gifting items are unreliable and others are just trying to get rid of tat that should go to the skip.

Olio has helped me connect with my neighbours while saving and sharing food that would otherwise go to waste. I’d encourage anyone to sign up — it’s incredibly easy to use, and you can list all sorts of items. There are free items like food, books, and household bits, as well as paid items such as clothes, toys, gaming devices, and much more.

The “Save Me” collections allow you to keep as much as you like, while the other collections let you share with your neighbours. A lot of items that expire on the same day can even be frozen to last longer, which makes the collections even more valuable.

Many local supermarkets and schools offer a great range of collection times, from daytime slots to evenings, weekdays or weekends, so there’s always something that suits your schedule. It really is an app designed for everyone.

On top of that, you can share local events, post recipes, and get involved in the community in a really positive way. Highly recommended.

Having been a volunteer for over 3 months i was doing exceptionally well sharing food but without going into specific details olio banned me and treated me unfairly I admit a mistake was made but olio have no heart they wouldn't even give me a verbal warning but decided through there unfair typeform automated emails that there decision to ban me is final.There is not even a customer service number to call to discuss so you cannot appeal.I had one olio knocking on my door in tears because I had helped them who were struggling to make ends meet to buy food so I hope you have this on your conscience olio team and by the way this is a real message not some typeform AI reply.

Been on Olio for approx 5 years, best thing since sliced bread (or batons lol) Not only great for the environment but your pocket too!
No perfectly edible food should go in the bin and this app certainly helps solve that problem.
Over the years we became FWHs (food waste heroes), it certainly opened our eyes to food waste, distributing food to our local community many who have become great friends.
We've seen many changes in the app but the ethos is always the same, stop waste!
We have nothing but praise for the paid staff, who do get alot of stick, but from personal experience problems are sorted as best can be.
Lets hope Olio continues to grow, everyone should download and give it a go, what have you got to lose?

I find Olio helps my limited budget. I often recommend it to others who are struggling, so that their needs can be met. I get satisfaction from sharing too.

The local volunteers are all very kind, caring and professional.
We are a rural area and it’s an effective way to share surplus food from the local supermarkets.

I live in flat 12 and my neighbour who also doing olio lives in flat 12a. We both have been blocked from joining the FWH program because I requested food from her. We appealed and sent proof of address to prove we are two different households and we are still blocked. I was being a food waste hero for about two months and people messaging me asking when I share food because they are in need. Thanks olio

Great concept ruined by bullies in the forums who try to police and belittle other FWH's who make honest genuine mistakes.

The forums are literally full of nasty comments that Olio do nothing about as if they did, they'd tell these people to go through them directly, who will deal with it.

Fully grown adults talking to others the way I see if absolutely disgusting.

Olio is a fantastic app that makes sharing surplus food and household items easy, sustainable, and community-focused & perfect for reducing waste while connecting with neighbors. Highly recommended for anyone looking to live more sustainably and build local connections.

The people who collect the free food do an amazing job BUT they shouldn't judge and choose specific people to give the food to ! Surely it should be given to the person who asks for it first? Not held back for others. I heard from a volunteer that she wasted alot of what she collects this horrified me ! Surely the idea it get free food and get rid quickly.

Got free food and was able to make three different things with it all! The app works well and is with real people. They have a cute way of making it fun by getting badges as well.

The only thing that disappoints me about Olio is that it isn't compulsory to know of it!
If every single person was aware of its massive benefits we could move this world towards zero waste. It is powered by exceptional,selfless people who deserve so much praise. An all-round feel good enterprise.

So far I have used Olio a few times to give items away. I am also going to look at selling items. My experience has been positive so far and the idea that nothing should go to waste including food is a good one.
I have only given 4 stars so far as I'm very new to the app and have yet to learn much more about this web site. Take a look I'm sure that there is something for everyone on offer.

I left a review, complained to them, contacted them and filled in the forms. Haven’t got any replies. You declared to HMRC that you have 90 employees. Would one of them investigate the glitch that made me booted from collections please? I am the only one in my area to do them. I am the only one willing to spend her own money to go to collections and share them to people. By the way, whoever thinks this is free and all this is a nice lovely charity, just so you know the public records on HMRC show that the beloved directors pay themselves £150,000 per year. The profits are above £2 million per year. Yeah, us, the food waste heroes are at the bottom of the food chain. They don’t spend a penny on us. This is actually a genius way to pocket hundreds of thousand of pounds. Charge the shops, get the volunteers to spend their own money and get rich on the back of the poor. Your system made an error. But I won’t make any errors, I am going to keep writing and expose you. You don’t care about us. There’s no point in replying to me here on a public site if in private you don’t do anything. I followed all of the rules since day 1. I am going to fight this because I know I had been abiding to the rules and still, you booted me. No apologies, no explanations, nothing. No! I won’t quit because I had not done anything wrong.

Great concept. Olio should be publicly funded and widely publicised. Have used a few times and always been successful.

Easy to use and great saving food and items that would otherwise been thrown away.

Olio is such a fantastic concept for saving food waste and recycling/giving away non food items. I have collected and given away hundreds of items so love the amount of items that must be aced from landfill.

The only thing that I now find extremely annoying and disappointing like many other olio users are the food waste heroes that put up listings for about an hour or less and very late making it extremely difficult for anyone to actually request and collect in time especially when they don’t respond and you can clearly see the next day that their ads actually expired. Also it is extremely difficult to report a food waste hero and even if you take the time to do this nothing seems to even happen and they just carry on. I know of one that ignores request and only gives to the same people she knows which is not the point of a food waste hero. Olio owners should make it easy to report a food waste hero and actually investigate them properly and just ban them or close their account altogether.
