This company is predatory and unscrupulous. If you want a source of constant frustration, to be continually underpaid and undervalued, subject to completely arbitrary, contradictory policies, and attempt to communicate with uncaring people then by all means sign up.

By the time you realize that this game has been rigged you will have wasted 40 hours of time for $100 when you could’ve set up on a better platform like micro1 or Mercor.

Although all of these types of companies are predatory and take advantage of people who are desperate for work, Mercor and micro1 at least make a little effort to show they understand they have hired actual human beings to do the work.

There are hardly any humans working at the corporate/company level (non-contractor) and they are not people who know how to communicate. They have hardly any real people in tech support and maybe like a few “supervisors”/“team leads” who literally don’t know anything about what’s going on and will not answer questions or bother to make anything clear. To be fair, I've found most of them have no clue what is going on and there are language barriers, which mean they do not understand what people are asking and so they are not answering the questions people are actually asking.

Everything is a hot mess from their platform to their onboarding, and they have the most disorganized system for doing work I’ve ever had the misfortune of working on.

I have been working with AI in a training capacity for three years, including for one of the biggest companies out there and I can say honestly this company is a joke. If you are one of their clients shame on you. You clearly have no care for your models or training your AI tools properly.

The sad part is how poorly all the big AI models and tools are being trained The average person would be horrified to learn how this training is really done.

Steer clear of this company- please have more dignity and self-esteem and look anywhere but outlier to work.

After perfectly following the platforms guidelines, I wake up the next day to find that I had been banned on the platform for no reason.

They didn't state why I got banned, only that I did not follow the guidelines.

I passed the assessments with flying colours and even put in a few hours of work completing tasks for them. At this point, I had started referring friends and family as I thought this is a great opportunity for people to work with a 'good' company and earn some extra money on the side online.

I was deeply disappointed to see this when I tried to login to the platform. I did everything as they explained, I did not use AI for any of my answers, and I spent time making sure my answers were accurate and useful.

This is a terrible platform, stay away from them, they'll waste your time, get your hopes up and then stab you in your back the first chance they get.

Onboarding onto the few projects with decent pay takes hours of unpaid effort. I was marked ineligible before I even submitted the onboarding. I don't know if I legitimately got something wrong, if it's a bug on their end, or if the project is paused. The only support available are automated answers.

Theoretically the platform works, there are tasks and in the end you will get paid – if you ever get a task.

The real problem ist the organization. It's a mess.
In multilingual projects you get SPAMMED with "missions" and "tasks" – but when you check in to your account to actually work on the tasks you more often than not find out that your language isn't even available as those messages seem to get send out to everyone irrespective of the languages being currently available.
So, you're wasting a lot of time reading all the messages, then you are wasting a lot of time doing the screeners, onboardings, intros, etc. then you are wasting a lot of time clicking through all the available projects looking for tasks in your language ... to be left with nothing in the end because none are actually available!
If you set off all that time and effort you have to put in to even find a task with the limited pay you actually get for doing a task (if you ever get one) in the end you will walk away with a very measly hourly wage; probably far below 10 USD an hour.

They cast you out of projects for illogical reasons even if you do everything exactly as required.
Based on other reviews and my personal experience it seems like the squeeze the work out of you and then come up with silly excuses to remove you and as such they avoid the payout as well. Quite unfortunate but it is obvious that there's no easy money like they present it.
Don't waste your time, that's a candid review, no exaggeration.
Where do I type in my account for diligent check ?

The onboarding and workflow can be confusing, and support information is sometimes outdated or inconsistent. However, I received payment successfully and did get responses from support at the end. The company appears legitimate, but there is definitely room for improvement in communication and process clarity.

I suddenly found my account permanently deactivated. I contacted support multiple times asking for clarification about the specific reason for the closure, but I only received repeated generic responses stating that there was a violation of the Community Guidelines and Terms of Use, without any details.

I also requested deletion of my personal data, including ID documents and verification videos I submitted during onboarding, but I was repeatedly told to refer to the Terms of Use and that no further action or escalation could be made through support channels.

What concerns me most is the lack of transparency and the inability to get a clear explanation or meaningful support, especially when sensitive personal data is involved.

I understand platforms need to enforce policies and protect their systems, but users should still have access to basic clarity about decisions that affect their accounts and data.

Scam! Took so long for a task. Once there is one available, they WAed me. Then my account suspended without giving specific reason. I put my personal information and they just stole it in this way.

THERE IS NO SUPPORT, ONLY AUTOMATED RESPONSES: ASKED FOR CONTRIBUTOR ACCOUNT WHEN I'M LOCKED OUT OF THEIR INTERFACE, THEY'RE TELLING ME TO CONTACT SUPPORT AND THERE IS NO SUPPORT, ONLY A BOT WHO ALWAYS ANSWERS THE SAME THING. Horrible company, scraping off unpaid labor from workers in distress needing an income, pushes contributors off without reason, hundreds or probaby thousands of people who have had their hard earned money restrained for alleged policy breaches, they diffame contributors. Don't waste your time with Outlier. They expect you to locate a contributor ID after revoking access to the account for support, their support is fully automated and gives out the same cookie-cutter answers for any question you might have. Look them up on Reddit, they are doing the exact same thing to people who depended on them, locking them out of their contributor accounts and denying them payment, then guarding themselves behind automated replies.

I started to work time ago and everything was okay. But suddenly I got an email that says I am not eligable for this project and no explanation. I asked support to let me know why I got suspended and they said nothing different. And they did not pay me what I earned.

Tenía cuenta en Outlier hace varios meses. Enseguida comencé a recibir varias propuestas que por otras cuestiones laborales no pude tomar. Un día, las ofertas cesaron por completo. Semanas más tarde me solicitaron verificación de identidad (envié mi ID y me tomaron datos biométricos). Al transcurrir los días sin novedades, entré al chat de Outlier para ver qué ocurría.

Sólo pude acceder al bot, que me dijo que en mi cuenta hubo actividad que violaba las normas de la comunidad, que por ello no recibiría más ofertas laborales y que la decisión era final e inapelable. Realmente me sorprendió, considerando que nunca llegué a iniciar ningún trabajo ni interactuar con nadie.

Cuando pedí detalles, el bot me dijo que no podía dármelos, le pedí contacto con un agente humano para saber los motivos, me ignoró por completo todas las veces que se lo pedí. Repitió una y otra vez la misma información.

Si no averiguaba, jamás me hubiera enterado, y mi cuenta hubiera seguido abierta, con apariencia normal, pero con 0 ofertas laborales, de aquí a la eternidad. Y yo entrando cada 3 o 4 días a ver si había ofertas laborales... qué ilusa.

En resumen: Absolutamente decepcionada de Outlier y su calidad de atención. Me ocultaron deliberadamente que no iba a recibir nunca más una oferta laboral, dejando mi cuenta abierta sin una sola señal de que algo estaba mal. Y cuando quise averiguar qué pasó, no pude encontrar una persona real que me atienda.

Ya cerré mi cuenta, no quiero tener nada que ver con este tipo de empresas.

RESPUESTA A OUTLIER: como no se puede responder a los comentarios de la empresa, debo editar aquí para hacerlo. Cuando hice mi reseña, TrustPilot me pidió en el formulario mi ID en Outlier y yo lo aporté; luego cerré la cuenta en outlier así que no tengo forma de acceder a él nuevamente ni voy a publicar mi mail aquí. De todos modos no me interesa volver a tener una cuenta, fue muy frustrante lo que pasó, no solo porque hayan considerado que violé sus normas cuando no lo hice, sino por no avisarme y mantenerme con la ilusión de que al día siguiente quizás llegaría una oportunidad de trabajo, cuando nunca me iban a enviar nada. Podría haber estado años en esa situación y no enterarme nunca. gracias.

I applied for "Native Bulgarian" position to train AI. Before the test, they ask me for my National ID, biometric face scan, and PayPal link. They say it is mandatory.

Then the big problem start. The test for "Native Bulgarian" language was 100% on English! Instructions on English, video questions on English, tasks on English. I finish it and their automated system send me message: "You failed the Bulgarian language test." This is ridiculous!

I write to Support but they send me generic auto template to wait 15 days for next attempt. It looks like they just collect sensitive private data and biometrics with broken system and fake language requirements. I deleted my account immediately. Not recommended.

If i could give it 0 stars i would.

I completed the onboarding to be told i had gone against their community guidelines by using things such as copy and pasting.

I stated i had not done this, i had just changed incorrect spellings.

I was told it still stands.

In response to the reply below, after emailing back and forth with your customer service team and having it reiterated several times to me that the decision stood, i deleted my account. I did not want to keep my ID etc uploaded onto a platform i was not allowed to use.

Paying in time and sure I’m convinced that outlier is the best remote job out there

I signed up to this company a couple of days ago, hoping to get some remote work on AI through them. After completing basic details, I went though a boarding exercise where I had to analyse some AI generated photos. Guidance was clear and strict, that no copy and pasting of text responses or anything using AI was to be used.

I followed the guidance to the letter and used only my own abilities to analyse and evaluate the photos and images. The whole process took me a couple of hours to complete.

I looked on my dashboard and to my surprise it said that I’d failed. Wanting feedback on where it went wrong, I was surprised to see that (quote) ‘ After carefully reviewing your account and auditing your submissions, we detected activity that violates our Community Guidelines and Terms of Use. A thorough secondary review has confirmed these findings.

This activity includes:
Submitting copied or artificially generated content
Reading or lip-syncing submissions aloud
Mimicking or closely matching other responses
Unauthorized automation
As a result, your account will not be reactivated.’

Absolutely none of these things took place by me, but their decision was final.

I have since read online that this has happened to thousands of people, many of which had completed hours and hours of work for them and in some instances, not been paid.

This is an immoral and unscrupulous company to get involved with. Avoid.

Good experience overall. The projects can be interesting, and I’ve received helpful support from the team. My experience so far has been positive.

I think it's a nice earning platform, payments are fair and on other hand attractive.

my overall experience on the Outlier platform has been awesome so far, they make payments for wok done on time and send necessary updates to help me grow in the platform. their user interface is appealing and easy to use.so far so goo an having a goo time with the platform

I was accepted onto Outlier after completing a difficult application process and was invited to onboard to a project. The onboarding was advertised as taking around 30 minutes, but it actually took me 6–7 hours and involved analysing AI-generated images across multiple tasks.

The platform was frustrating to use, with copying and pasting being banned and a very poor interface that required constant scrolling between instructions and answer boxes. I also experienced what appeared to be a technical issue which caused a large part of my work to disappear, forcing me to rewrite it.

After finally submitting the onboarding assessment, I received a message saying my answers would be reviewed. However, when I returned to the homepage, the project had vanished. I contacted support and was told by the unhelpful AI chatbot that my account had been deactivated for "cheating". No evidence was provided, no explanation was given, and I was told the decision was final.

To make matters worse, I was initially told I would be paid for the onboarding work, but when I followed up later, I was told I would not be paid at all due to the alleged violation.

Spending an entire day completing unpaid onboarding only to be deactivated without evidence, transparency, or a meaningful appeal process was extremely disappointing and quite frankly disgraceful.

Further update:
I have since been contacted several times by Outlier via email asking me to sign up to a new account and proceed with their 'onboarding'. I have reported these messages as spam several times but they are continuing to reappear in my inbox, and the Unsubscribe button at the bottom of the email is a fake link and can't be clicked on.

My reply to their reply:
Well that will be because I deleted my account and removed all my data from your platform obviously? I also notice that everything I stated has been ignored, at least it hasn't been denied as it's all true! Thank you!
