Meconopsis lack of germination We have been customers for thirty years…
We have been customers for thirty years and have mixed experiences. This year, of the seven Meconopsis species only one germinated (poorly). I sowed seed some of which was five or six years old on the same day and got excellent germination. In general we have had much better germination success with other suppliers. The service is good but many of the seeds are not viable. Are there storage issues?

Avoid Plant World Seeds - none viable
Bought over 25 varieties of seeds (3 packets of each), vernalised them in moist compost and only 6 varieties seemed viable. There were after many weeks with correct moisture & temps either no germination or 1 or 2 seedlings. Given Ive had three packets of each there should have been a better yield. I dont expect 100% germination, but here is clearly an issue here. Seed stock could be old or harvested before viable. Buyer beware. Dont trust this seed provider, they are not reliable. Iam now £200 out of pocket. They did not reply to my email. No legitimate customer service or accountability.

Hello David, we believe we have also received email communication from you (evildave88@). It is unfortunate that you chose to leave a review of this nature so hastily first without giving us the opportunity to communicate back via email and try to resolve and rectify these issues. We will respond in full in the coming days via e-mail.
However the short version is that we have reviewed your order and our head of propagation has selected 20 of the varieties you purchased excluding mixes and has sown as of the 15/05/26 - 30 seeds of each as an additional germination trial. We will communicate any results back to you via email however it must be noted that not all of the seeds you selected can be considered "easy to grow", some requiring much more time for germination regardless of techniques used. We would not normally perform additional germ tests without good reason however in this case the results may be interesting to us based on the products purchased.
We will have a clearer idea in 4 - 6 weeks once most of the seeds have been given adequate time. There is always the possibility of the occasional bad batch of seeds however 25 out of 30 sounds extremely unusual.

Phyto certificate issues for EU
Ordering was fine - but due to no phyto-certificate (not possible to get) the seeds never arrived. This will be an issue for anyone ordering from the EU and therefore the company should provide it for all orders.

No, it’s not a matter of paying customs. Without a phytocertificate you
Will not get the seeds. So effectively you are throwing money out the window if you are in the EU and order as a private person (because you cannot get a phytocertificate from plant world seeds).

Hello Morten, this is unfortunate to hear you have had issues, usually the failure to deliver in the EU is because items get held for customs fees to be paid which many EU customers do not realise they are responsible for when ordering in from the UK.

Hello Ian, apologise if your order did not arrive as quickly as expected, occasionally our seeds require a fill to order process if there is no immediate stock available (to keep seeds stored correctly for longer) which is potentially why there may have been a delay.
In regards shipping cost unfortunately as a small business we are getting hit from all side be it the cost of envelopes and stationary or the postage itself which Royal Mail has recently been adding additional surcharges to due to various global issues. We also use a tracked service to ensure Royal Mail deliver in reasonable time as untracked mail is not processed and delivered as quickly as their terms state.

Disappointing germination rates.
Good range of uncommon seeds. Unfortunately my experience was that many failed to germinate, even a year after sowing, which points to the seeds not being sufficiently fresh at point of sale. This applied particularly to half hardy bulb seeds. Customer service sent replacements but germination rates were still poor. Disappointing overall.
