From start to finish, my experience with PlugMeIn has been excellent. The booking process was smooth and straightforward, and the communication from the company leading up to the installation was clear and consistent. I always knew what to expect and when.
A special mention goes to Arshad, who carried out the EV charger installation. He was incredibly polite, helpful, and professional throughout the entire visit. He arrived on time and completed the installation within the specified timeframe. It’s clear he takes pride in his work and in delivering great customer service. The installation itself went off without a hitch – completely seamless and finished to a very high standard.

My ev charger regularly tripped the RCD when charging overnight and I frequently woke up to insufficient charge for my needs. The manufacturer suspected the problem was with the RCD and advised me to reduce charging from 32 to 20 amps, which provided a temporary solution. Scottish Power, through whom I had bought the charger, arranged for Plug Me In to attend. I was lucky that Lewis was our technician. He immediately diagnosed the problem and replaced the RCD. He also identified and addressed other anomalies in the original installation and gave me welcome additional advice. He couldn't have been more personable or efficient. Thank you for the five star customer service.

Endless delays and poor communication
I commenced the process of installing my EV charger through Scottish Power on 20th December 2023, who subsequently appointed Plug Me In as the installation team.
From the outset, there were complications, as the survey team appeared unfamiliar with the existing electrical cabling setup in my new build car park, which ultimately turned out to be quite standard for a load-balanced connection in a new build car park.
All that was required was for Plug Me In to install the charging station in my designated parking bay, as the necessary electrical cabling was already in place. After some time, their technicians finally grasped the situation, and an installation date was set for 5th August 2024—over seven months later. Initially, everything seemed to be progressing well, but at the last moment, the installation team decided to halt the process, claiming they lacked authorisation from the landlord.
This led to another round of complications, as the landlord had engaged a block management company that requested several additional documents, including the company’s professional certification, public liability insurance, and RAMS, which seemed reasonable prior to granting authorisation. While most of the required documentation was provided, Plug Me In refused to share a copy of their public liability insurance with my management company, stating they were not permitted to do so and would only show a preview of the document during a screen-sharing call. The block management company did not accept this arrangement, leaving me in a difficult position, as the installation could not proceed without this document.
Plug Me In then indicated that they would reach out to Scottish Power to explore alternative solutions, promising to provide an update within 28 days from 5th February 2025. However, over a year and three months later, they indicated that no progress had been made since our last contact, and requested an additional 28 days. Frustrated by their lack of urgency and the prolonged delays, I have decided to cancel my installation.
I am extremely disappointed with the handling of what should have been a straightforward installation, and I feel hindered by the bureaucratic requirements that they were unable to navigate.

Professional conduct at its best
After 8 weeks of experiencing the worst customer service from Scottish Power (& SP EV) as well as Plugmein, it was a breath of fresh air to have Arshad Iqbal (Plugmein Engineer) come round and fix my Wallbox EVC. His friendly demeanour and politeness throughout his visit was very welcomed. He knew straight away what the issue was and fixed it in no time at all. He methodically went through the testing of the EVC system with me as well to ensure I was aware of what had gone wrong and was happy with the diagnosis / fix. An absolute pleasure to meet him and his professional approach.
