Disappointing
Very disappointed with the service at Pocket Geek Wolverhampton. I took my laptop in on August 3rd for a liquid damage issue affecting the trackpad. I picked it up on the 8th after being told it was ready, but at home, the trackpad was barely usable and required excessive force to click.
I brought it back on the 10th for them to rectify the job. When I collected it on the 11th, I immediately noticed physical damage to the casing - a dent and a corner sticking out where it had been pried open. The store offered a £10 discount for the cosmetic damage, but upon testing the device at home, the actual repair still isn't done properly: when highlighting text, the trackpad remains "clicked" and won't release.
After two visits, paying £85, and receiving physical damage to my laptop, the original problem persists. They clearly failed to run basic quality checks before handing the device back twice. I do not recommend this shop for repairs.
Our PS5 had a problem: Jordan at Halifax was a star
Our PS5 had a problem - a flat screw which we couldn't remove - so we went in search of a solution. CEX staff were very helpful, but could only offer to send the whole unit off for £100 and 10 days. Went into Pocket Geek, in Halifax, and Jordan was very attentive. He realised it was a something and nothing issue and managed to remove the screw. Thank you to Jordan. Over and above service and attention. 🙏
I requested my phone's battery to be…
I requested my phone's battery to be changed, including the battery and charges I paid £50.00 ,the battery didn't last even 2 weeks, therefore It feels like I have wasted my money,I went in the store again today 28th July to get the battery looked into or I will be requesting a refund,I am disabled and just to hand over the phone it has taken me a week considering the battery was changed on 7th July. As of 4th August the matter remains unresolved , just wondering where the battery is coming from and I don't see any reason why they are holding on to my handset from 28th July.
I am writing to make a formal complaint…
I am writing to make a formal complaint regarding the repair of my HP ZBook laptop and the way this matter has been handled.
I originally brought my laptop to your shop because it would not boot properly and the cooling fan would run continuously. I was told that you would inspect it and, if it was repairable, you would fix it. Later, I received a phone call informing me that the issue had been repaired and that the laptop was working correctly.
Once I knew the laptop was working, I decided to replace the screen because it had a few black spots. I specifically agreed to pay for the screen replacement only because I had been told that the laptop itself had been successfully repaired.
After collecting the laptop with the new screen installed, I took it home. It worked for only around 30 minutes before the original fault returned. The fan started running constantly again and the laptop stopped working properly, exactly as it had before the repair.
At the same time, I noticed that the screen bezel around the display had started separating from the screen. The adhesive was coming away and the bezel was lifting. When I returned to your shop, I was told that this was “normal” because the adhesive on these laptops is not very strong. If that had been explained to me before the repair, I would never have agreed to pay for a screen replacement.
I then brought the laptop back again because of both issues: the original fault had returned and the screen bezel was coming apart. This time I was told that the motherboard had failed and that it could not be repaired. This completely contradicted what I had previously been told, when I was informed that the laptop had already been repaired successfully.
I requested a full refund because the repair had clearly not solved the original problem. Over the phone, I was told that I would receive a “full refund”. However, I later discovered that I was only refunded the cost of the replacement screen. That is not a full refund, it is only a partial refund. The wording used was misleading.
The most serious issue is what happened to my original screen. After removing the replacement screen, my original screen was reinstalled. Unfortunately, it had been damaged during removal. Before your work, my original screen only had a few black spots but was fully usable. After it was returned to me, the screen was cracked internally and only a small section of the display still worked. I was never informed that there was a risk of my original screen being damaged, and I certainly did not agree to receive it back in a broken condition.
Ironically, after taking the laptop home, it has continued working for several days despite being told that the motherboard was faulty. I now have a working laptop with a damaged original screen that was broken while in your care.
Overall, I have received inconsistent explanations throughout this process, the original fault was not properly repaired, I was misled regarding the refund, and my original screen was returned to me in a damaged condition.
I would like this complaint to be reviewed by management and I ask that a fair resolution be offered. I believe I should be compensated not only for the screen replacement, but also for the labour charges and for the damage caused to my original screen while it was in your possession.
I hope we can resolve this matter amicably. However, if we are unable to reach a satisfactory resolution, I will consider taking the complaint further through the appropriate consumer protection channels.
I look forward to your response.
I would give zero stars if I could.

My insurance through Halifax Bank referred me to Pocket Geeks for a screen replacement. Under the terms of my insurance, an Apple screen should have been fitted. However, Jordan fitted a non-Apple screen instead.
Since the repair, my phone has had multiple issues. Face ID has stopped working completely, the touchscreen has often been unresponsive or inaccurate when typing, and today the screen failed altogether. Unfortunately, this happened during my children's end-of-year assembly, meaning I was unable to take any photos to remember such an important occasion.
I returned to the store to explain the problems and asked for the incorrect screen to be replaced with the genuine Apple screen that my insurance covers. Jordan initially denied fitting a non-Apple screen and accused me of lying. This was particularly frustrating because, on the day of the repair, he had told me himself that he was fitting a non-Apple screen because he didn't have an Apple screen in stock. I asked him to remove the screen and show me what had been fitted, but instead he became extremely rude and refused.
As I was getting nowhere, I contacted my insurance company. They then contacted Pocket Geeks and asked Jordan to rectify the issue. When I called him, he again refused and said he had referred the matter to his manager. However, instead of explaining that he had fitted a non-Apple screen, he reportedly told his manager that the problem was due to a crack in my phone.
This is simply not true. My phone has only a tiny scratch on the bottom-left corner of the screen—there is no crack that would explain the faults or cause the phone to stop working. Throughout the conversation, Jordan repeatedly hung up on me and was consistently rude and unprofessional.
Thankfully, my insurance company has agreed to repair the phone properly themselves. However, based on my experience, I would strongly advise anyone referred to Pocket Geeks to be extremely cautious. The poor workmanship, lack of honesty, and unprofessional customer service have been incredibly disappointing.
-Halifax Branch
Unusually high customer care
I can't recommend the Romford branch highly enough. From the outset, their communication was excellent. What particularly stood out was how proactive they were—they contacted me in advance when they knew their availability would be limited, saving me a wasted journey. The communication and service in-store were equally professional and helpful.
When I later experienced an issue related to an insurance-authorised screen replacement, the team took the time to listen, investigate and find a proper solution. They worked with the insurer to secure a genuine Apple replacement and went above and beyond to fit me in and get the repair completed quickly.
The staff are calm, knowledgeable, flexible and genuinely customer-focused. It's rare to find a company that handles problems this well when they arise. Fantastic service and a great experience from start to finish.
IPad
Had something wrong with IPad. Took it in first thing in the morning and repair was carried out by 2pm. Gentleman in store could not be more helpful and polite. I would not hesitate to use this service again. Can’t thank you enough.

These folks take phone and tablet pins which is a huge security risk
I suspect that this company are good at repairs and are that they are not criminals. I walked in with an iPad Pro 11 to help repair a USB-C port that draws little current and therefore will not charge - Surrey Quays shopping centre SE16 London.
The manager correctly tested the current. He stated that for £20, they can diagnose the fault. He correctly identified the fact that the ipad has a modular flex and that the port is not soldered onto the motherboard.
We did not get to the point of discussing screen damage warranty, repair warranty, or whether if the port replacement failed, whether to check the Hydra / CD 3215 chip and whether they do micro-soldering in house.
Why? He insisted that I had to give him the pin to the iPad. I understand why a pin makes it easier to do post-repair diagnostic tests BUT I use my iPad for work and it will give them access to confidential commercial data. From a corporate cyber security perspective, this is a serious disciplinary offence to allow unauthorised access to data.
Please be flexible and either allow Test in front of me OR allow me to place the iPad in Repair State OR use a Diagnostic Screen Bypass.
The manager assured me that "we will not look at your data" but can he really provide an iron cast warranty for all employees and sub-contractors? Of course not!
Amazing service from Halifax and Shipley staff.
Messaged the Halifax branch for a phone battery replacement. Mine had swollen and was bursting out of my phone case.
Halifax didn't have a replacement so advised I go to the Shipley branch and was assured they would have one in stock. Gave me the price and time it would take.
Got to Shipley and my phone was fixed in 40 minutes and for £65.
I am so impressed with how the staff from both branches treat me. Polite and helpful. I cant believe how fast and reasonably priced pocket geek are.
You have saved me from a phone replacement! Thank you 😊
Superb professional service! - Whetstone
My old iPhone 11 refused to boot up after a failed attempt by me to update.
Calm honest advice was received, pointing out all possible outcomes.
Thankfully the phone was restored, including the most up to date OS, all on the same day.
So grateful!
Efficacy and kindness
I went there with a blocked phone and the guy did his magic in two seconds and didn't want any money for it.
Thank you very much!
Great service in Glasgow
Great service at the Glasgow city branch, friendly, helpful and communicative.
Cheap 3rd Party screens for ipHones
Paid £75 excess for an iphone 15 plus screen repair.
The screen is visibly cheap, laggy and freezes (not on demand unfortunately).
I took it back to the shop, they admitted it lags as it is a 3rd party screen and blamed Nationwide for not paying for the cost of an official screen.
From my perspective the £75 screen is like owning an original Samsung Galaxy, it makes the expensive phobe feel buggy, laggy and cheap.
Thanks for nothing.
They saved another tablet!
tldr: they know their stuff and keep expectations realistic.
Last night had a nightmare scenario. My iPad Pro 3rd Gen, stopped working. I'd plug it in, it would show the battery was flat, would start to charge a little bit, then it would start to boot up, get to the home screen, then shut down. I had the expectation iPad was beyond repair.
Took it into the Shipley branch, at lunch time, it's now 4pm, and it's fixed. The guys in the store knew their stuff, we had three options that it could be, port broken, battery problem, or even an issue with the main board. From their initial look they were preparing me for it to be a mainboard fail. I left it with them, and after a couple of hours had a phone call to say it's fixed. Turned out it was bent pins on the USB-C port, which doesn't surprise me. That was also the cheapest of the fixable options.
From the moment that I walked into the store, I had that homely feeling of being amongst my people, that is those that have their technical skills and are quietly confident what they do. I had no hesitation leaving my tablet with them and had the feeling that it was in good hands.
Also whilst I was in the shop, someone came in with their phone all locked up and not responding to anything, without any charge the owner of the shop showed the child how to do a hard reboot of the phone and got it working in next to no time. I'm sharing this experience as it's the kind of thing that I would do if I could.
I will not hesitate to take any of my mobile devices, Apple, or Android if I needed them looking at.
So kind and helpful
The member of staff I dealt with at the Surrey Quays store was so kind and helpful. She answered all my questions and offered me all the solutions including the prices of each. I would definitely recommend the store, service and the particular woman I was lucky enough to meet.
Ruined my watch
Poor workmanship and inadequate disclosure.
I took my Apple Watch Series 6 in for repair and was told it would be sealed using glue. However, I was not informed that this would likely compromise the watch’s water resistance, which is a key feature and clearly material to a customer’s decision.
Afterwards, I took the watch to Apple for inspection and was advised that due to the way it has been sealed, it cannot be repaired properly now, with replacement being the only realistic option.
I also had an iPhone repaired here. I was only informed after the repair that the phone is no longer water resistant.
These are significant outcomes that should be clearly explained before proceeding with any repair. I would not recommend.
Updated review - yes, £30 was refunded to me but I’m now £300 out of pocket.
Also, raised a complaint to the management at CRC but no response.
2nd update - 16/02. 2 emails escalating to the management, no one has come back offering a resolution. It’s all good I’d you’re leaving photo e reviews but no care in the world for negative reviews.
Dear Manager,
I am writing to raise a formal complaint regarding a repair carried out on my Apple Watch Series 6 which was carried out at the Romford store in 6th December 2025.
At the time of booking, I was informed that the device would be sealed using glue, as the original tape/gasket was not available. However, I was not informed that this method would likely compromise the watch’s water resistance, which is a key functional feature of an Apple Watch and information that would have materially affected my decision to proceed with the repair.
As a result, I can no longer use the watch in situations where there is a risk of water exposure (e.g. swimming pool, sauna, steam room, or similar environments), as the device can no longer be relied upon to be water resistant.
Following the repair, I later took the watch to Apple for inspection and was advised that due to the manner in which the watch has been sealed, it cannot be repaired to an acceptable standard, and the only viable option is replacement.
I consider this repair to have been carried out without reasonable care and skill, and the service provided has left me with a device that is worse off than before, resulting in avoidable financial loss.
Please can you confirm how you propose to resolve this matter swiftly and amicably. A replacement refurbished Apple Watch Series 6 currently costs approximately £300 directly from Apple, which I believe could have been avoided if the implications of glue sealing had been clearly explained from the outset.
