Calvin was our driver/guide and he was a joy to ride with. His knowledge of the sites we were seeing was awesome. He drove safely, was timely, was considerate of our preferences and we enjoyed talking with Calvin. He made sure we met up promptly with our guide in Bath and arranged our pick up after our walking tour. Our overall experience of our 1 day visit to Bath and the Cotswalds was outstanding and Calvin was a big reason for that. Also, the staff that we dealt with at Private Tours England were exceptional. All communication was clear, helpful and easy. The flexible schedule that they worked for us was perfect and a main reason we worked with them. We would work with PTE again in the future.

I am so glad I found Private Tours England for our "Downton Abbey" Tour. From the first email response, to phone calls and our absolutely incredible personal guide, Kevin Willis, I cannot praise this company enough. Kevin was so great, we hired him for a second day of touring around London. Kevin is a wealth of knowledge of London and the UK - and so much fun to be around! If you are a Downton Abbey fan, this is the company to help you plan your dream tour!!! Megan and Sandie helped us plan our itinerary and we were lucky they paired us with Mason, tour guide extraordinaire!

He picked us up in the comfortable Mercedes, provided water and drove us to Highclere castle, giving us fascinating history, information and stories on the way there, pointing out special sites outside our window, which we would not have learned about if we took a train on our own. We had booked the tour of Highclere on our own, he took pictures of us and he waited as we took the fascinating tour. He even played the Downton Abbey theme as we pulled into the driveway, which gave me goosebumps to actually be there. We got there early and had time to walk in the gardens and sit on “Mary’s Bench”.

We then went to the small village of Bampton, where much of Downton was filmed, including the church where the weddings and christenings were held, the cemetery, the post office, the Cottage Hospital, Isabel’s house, the village green, etc. We ate at a cozy pub with Mason and felt like we were in the show.

He then drove us to Cogges Farm, where the Drewe’s took care of Marigold and Mr. Mason moved to. It is a fascinating place, a 13th century working farm and manor.

We had a leisurely drive back to our hotel and didn’t want the day to end, especially with the knowledgable, funny, interesting Mason. He’s the best. Thank you to PTE and especially Mason for helping to make a bucket list item and birthday so special! It may seem pricy, but it is so worth it!

With Private Tours England the process of planning and booking an international 5 day trip to London was remarkably easy. We indicated our priorities and PTE arranged the schedule, booked the tickets, if needed and arranged for Blue Badge guides within the venues. PTE was remarkably prompt with replies and flexible with any changes.
Mark, our knowledgeable, friendly and competent driver was always on time, managed our time carefully and not only cared for us but cared about us.

Our private tour of the Cotswolds in June 2026 was excellent! Mark, our guide, picked us up at our hotel right on time and provided a comfortable, wonderful experience throughout several towns. He was informative and thoughtful of my husband’s mobility issues. Prior to traveling, the tour planners were so thoughtful and considerate as we had some health issues arise that may have prevented traveling. But, they were always pleasant, patient and understanding of our situation. Thankfully, we were able to travel and have this fantastic tour experience! A couple years ago, we contracted with this company plan a day tour to Lourdes from Bordeaux and it was an equally quality experience. I wouldn’t hesitate to book future tours with this company.

Calvin was great! Friendly, courteous, helpful, attentive, flexible, and accommodating with a very comfortable vehicle equipped with charging cables for our devices, plenty of leg room (I’m over 6 feet tall), snacks, cold bottles of water, and great air conditioning. Very easy to relax and enjoy the sights!

Kyri was a great guide. Full of knowledge and fun stories. We never felt rushed and could really spend all the time needed where we wanted. Great last day on our trip. Would want him again if we return. Very good communication and customer service from the company

I did thorough research before choosing Private Tours England. Having never used them I had some initial fears. I am happy to say that everything went far better than I could have hoped. Our guides were subject matter experts, our driver courteous and efficient, and the Tours staff were friendly and accommodating.

In particular, our museum and markets tour was notable. With a jet lagged teenager in tow we set out on a day long journey. Our guide, who is also a London Times travel writer, was incredibly accommodating and pivoted as necessary to keep my son going.

When I was looking for tour companies Private Tours England was the only one to call me and see what we really wanted and put together the trip we needed. As an added bonus they were much more cost effective than any of the other options we looked at for customized private tours (though I wouldn't say cheap - you do get what you pay for...)

Next time we go to a Private Tours location I would ask them to plan the whole trip.

We visited England on 22 -28 June, 2026. We hired Private Tours England for a 5 days tour of England, based out of York. Laura helped us plan the itinerary. She really listened to our preferences. Peter was our driver and guide. He picked us up at London Heathrow in a Mercedes SUV, which was spacious and comfortable. The hotel Laura picked out for us was the Grand, York. A truly 5 star hotel, with good restaurants, comfortable rooms, and VERY good customer service. Here, I would like to thank Phoebe and Callum at the Front Office. They went out of their way to make our stay memorable. Oh, we must not forget Sandie, who is the wonderful support person at Private Tours throughout our trip.
Peter is a real gem! He is knowledgeable and very professional. Along with his good driving skills, he would tell us the background history and information on the places we were going to visit. England experienced a Heatwave of the Century while we were there. Peter showed up every morning with a smile on his face, no sign of tiredness, when you know he could not have had a good night's sleep due to the heat. We are just so lucky to have you with us, Peter!
The history and the beautiful countryside were just as we anticipated. If we could, we would definitely be back for more touring in England, with Peter as our guide!

We had an amazing day on our tour to Stonehenge and Bath with Mason.
Pick up was prompt for the time we had chosen.
Our family of 5 settled in to a beautiful new vehicle and were very happy that all seats were forward facing (this is not the norm we discovered during our time in England).
Through out the drive Mason was very personable and engaging. He shared endless amounts of history and information. He managed our time extremely well, to ensure that we were able to get the most out of our day. His tour through Bath was excellent!
Would like to mention as well, that the entire process of booking this tour was great as well. The communication was always prompt, polite and all question where answered thoroughly.
We enjoyed every moment of our 12+ hour day and would have no hesitation in booking a tour with Private Tours England in the future.

My husband and our four adult daughters wanted to travel to England to discover some of our family history and visit some historical sites. My first criteria for selecting a Tour was the quick response to my questions, a private driver and offer any suggestions. I received same day responses!!! We had very specific places and cemeteries we wanted to visit and they were able to find them and help to plot our route. Not to mention securing tickets to all our tours including the Tower of London, Stonehenge, and the ferry to Isle of Wight to mention a few.
Our driver was the best. Always on time, knowledgeable of the area, and willing to find us a nice pub for lunch. The tour guides and accommodations were over the top!!!! This was definitely a trip of a lifetime for my family. Not only to be able to visit some historical sites in England, but most of all to get an idea of where our ancestors came from. We had the priviledge to spend 4 days with Kyri Angeli. What an amazing man or angel as his name. He was so kind and helpful. He booked us in delicious restaurants and found exactly the kind of boutique we were looking for in top of being an amazing guide and driver. We strongly recommend him … it is a priviledge.

Our week in London with Calvin as our driver/guide was awesome! He was very knowledgeable, friendly, professional and was always ensuring we were well taken care of for all our travels and events.

We recently used Private Tours England for a 3-day trip including the Lake District to the Cotswolds, Oxford, Bath, and Stonehenge. Kyri, our excellent driver-guide was fantastic. Our local guides, both named Mike, did a fabulous job. Mike at Stonehenge was an anthropologist which was a perfect fit for the tour. Mike at Bath efficiently navigated us through a very busy graduation ceremony crowd.
Friendly staff including Sophia made setting up our schedule a pleasant experience.

Amazing tour! Mason was the best tour guide and driver we could have hoped for. Van was super comfortable.

We only had a day to spend in London and we certainly made the most of it. Private Tours made it easy by picking us and our luggage up at the airport, and heading straight to downtown. Our Driver/Guide Shane was super friendly, knowledgeable and accommodating. It was our 1st time in London and given our short time visiting we hit all the hot spots. Shane also planned out a very enjoyable 30 minute walk for us down the Southside of the river where he dropped us off and pointed us toward a great roof top lunch looking out over the river. He then met us with our tickets for a majestic ride on the Eye. All in all it was a great way to spend an 18 hour travel layover.

We had an terrific day tour of the Cotswolds villages and countryside. We would highly recommend our driver/guide, Darius. He was professional and polite, but informative, friendly and fun! Private Tours England was most helpful to make sure our day met all of our requests, including a pick up from Windsor, Sunday roast and drive back to London. Plus we visited 4 towns and even an added stop to an outdoor pub to try the local beer. Also, the vehicle was new and clean and stocked with cold water, beverages and snacks.

We had a great time riding around the English countryside with Calvin as our driver. Got to both of our destinations seamlessly, and returned home without a hitch. Lots of good conversation on the way, both informational and fun. Would recommend to anyone looking to get around the country via car.
