I deliberately chose Redber over Amazon because I wanted to support a small independent business. What followed made that choice very hard to justify.

I ordered a Chemex on 1st April and paid for upgraded 1-2 day shipping. Seven days later I still had not received it. DHL collected the parcel on 2nd April and left it sitting at their depot for five days. When they finally attempted delivery on day seven, they rang once at the side entrance of my building - at the exact moment my main entrance intercom was occupied, so the ring never reached me. No phone call was made, no card was left, no second attempt followed.

I called Redber twice on day eight to chase an urgent redelivery. The first time I was told someone would get back to me. They never did. When I called the second time (four hours later), I was told the staff were still waiting to hear from a colleague internally.

To their credit, when I finally asked to cancel the order, it was done within minutes, and a full refund was arranged. It is a shame that the same urgency was never applied to actually resolving the problem.

I cancelled and ordered the same item from Amazon. It arrived the same day.

I genuinely liked their coffee and wanted to become a regular customer. But good coffee cannot make up for a bad choice of a courier that does not deliver and a customer service team that cannot follow through. If you want to support small businesses, they need to make it easier than this.

UPDATE: Redber responded, acknowledging the poor communication. However I want to add one important detail that puts the courier choice in perspective: my daughter placed her order after me on the same day, in the same postcode, without paying for any shipping upgrade. Her order was sent via Amazon and arrived within two days of placing it. Mine was sent via DHL and took eight days without completing delivery. The choice of courier was entirely Redber's decision - and it made all the difference.

I cannot fault the service from Redber. I was looking to buy a Moccamaster (dream coffee machine!), some places were a lot more expensive and some didn’t have the colour I wanted. I found Redber and to be honest I was nervous at first as it was a company I hadn’t heard of, however I decided to order the machine and a bottle of descaler.
The coffee machine arrived within a day or two which I was really happy with, it was in fantastic condition - packaged extremely well, and it even had a free bag of coffee thrown in.
I would 100% order from Redber again, and anyone looking to splurge on a Moccamaster - definitely order from Redber.

Absolutely brilliant .
Was buying a wacaco picopresso as a gift and they were selling it cheaper than anywhere else (and with a free 250 gram bag of coffee with option of beans or ground) .
Explained it was for a gift and I needed next day delivery (and yes, they actually pick up the phone and you can ask them about their products etc) .
The next day delivery was only an extra fiver and was delivered in less than 24 hours .
Always great to come across people who are specialists and care about the products they are trading in .

I've been a Redber customer for several years now and continue to rate them as a first class coffee supplier. I signed up to their subscription scheme because at the time theirs was the only one I found that would send decaf coffee. It's a very flexible system: I can swap coffees, delay or hasten despatch and add extra items too. They also have an excellent range of accessories, at prices that usually beat or match the cheapest elsewhere.

Easy to choose from a large selection of single origin and blended coffees from Redber allows me to choose a selection of coffees that suit my taste and preference. The website includes coffee making paraphernalia and "How To" advice along with emailed newsletters. Prompt reliable delivery via royal mail suits me fine and leads to an efficient professional service which delivers a high quality and consistent product to my door. I have tried others but this is the only only that ticks all the boxes.

I've been using Redber for years now. I've had coffee subscriptions with other suppliers before but not stayed with them. Redber has a great range of coffees including my favourite and it always arrives on time. The subscription service is easy to manage so I can skip or delay if I go on holiday or bring my next delivery forward if I'm running low.

Redber are consistently great - both in products and customer service. We’ve subscribed for some years and the quality of the coffee is unmatched. It’s the only place I’ve found a dark roast decaffeinated coffee that reminds me of morning espressos in Italy. The few times I’ve needed to contact the team, usually when I run out before my subscription renews, they deal with my queries with enviable speed and efficiency. Their coffee is consistently great, their hot chocolate, truly excellent, the service outstanding.

The orders are always dispatched in a speedy manner, with the coffee beans freshly roasted. They have not been taken from stock, so who knows when they were roasted. They have a wide choice of coffee beans from around the world.

I have only had a couple of minor issues, both with their couriers, that said when I raised them with Redber, they were very helpful and are taking action. Sady, usual with many organisations.

I have been buying from Redber Coffee for a couple of years now. Great choice of coffee beans with a range of roasting styles and good tasting notes to help with which to select. Roasted and dispatched quickly, it's a daily treat to drink their coffee, especially the Dark Italian blend.

I have been a customer of Redber for many years. The range of coffees they offer is extensive and new ones are regularly added. The origin of the beans are detailed with roasting notes provided. The beans arrive within a few days of placing an order online and are freshly roasted and vacuum sealed. Their prices are very competitive, I couldn't fault Redber Coffee Roasters.

I've been a customer for 10years (!?) - this should say it all. The selection is superb and new coffee's get rotated in all the time. Prices are competitive and the coffee is great.

After a couple of years initially going through the selection I finally settled on the 'Honduras SHG Finca Santa Rosa' which I would thoroughly recommend (used with Filter / AeroPress). I'm on a 1kg subscription that I can edit freely and is really convenient as coffee consumption is fairly regular. I get notified when a new subscription order is coming, confirmed and ready for collection. Beans are always roasted fresh and I find they need a day or two to settle to de gas - this is great so they can go into the freezer when they're at their prime.

They offer collection, which is super convenient and easy, again another reason for loyalty along with the fact that the staff are amazing. Every time I've emailed / queried / called or spoken to them they've been really friendly and helpful.

I could not recommend Redber enough!!

I’ve been using Redber Coffee for years, and having tried other roasters I keep coming back to them. They’re subscription offering is great, choosing whatever coffee and type you want (beans or different grind types) but, they offer this across all sizes too, I typically get 1kg of filter grind - which is something I’ve struggled to find elsewhere.
Also, they have excellent customer service, responding and fixing any problems quickly, which, in honesty - I’ve maybe done twice in about 4 years. They’re great - I recommend Redber to anyone wanting freshly roasted coffee!

I know what I like and Redber are consistent in their ability to deliver the Monsoon Malabar dark roast that is my go to coffee bean.

Great coffee, great prices and a very efficient team behind it all! You won't find better with plenty of offers and great online articles too. I've had a 2 Kilo delivery every other month for about seven or eight years and never a problem.

I’ve been buying my coffee online from Redber Coffee for more than ten years now. I like the selection of coffees, I like the prompt delivery and the straight forward process to order via the website. I have never had any issues with missed or delayed orders, no problems with damaged orders or the quality of the coffees. Redber Coffee are my goto place for coffee beans.

I’ve bought Redber coffee for years, I’ve only ever had one problem and that was royal mails fault but Redber sorted it for me straight away. Ordering is easy and delivery is fast. I’ve tried lots of flavours but our favourite is the dark Italian blend. If you’re looking for a decent coffee definitely give these a try you won’t be disappointed.
