RED Driving School

Absolutely disappointing experience with RED Driving School. Even if they book your driving test, your instructor can cancel at any time, even just a few days beforehand. They rely on self-employed instructors and apparently have no reliable backup plan when things go wrong.

You pay for lessons and organise your life around your test date, yet there is no guarantee you will receive the service you paid for. A driving test is stressful enough without the added uncertainty of your instructor cancelling at the last minute.

I would not recommend RED Driving School if you value reliability, professionalism, and respect for your time.

After learning with several driving instructors, I finally passed my driving test with just two minor faults, and I owe a huge amount of that success to John Sunuwar!

John has a methodical, patient and well-planned approach to teaching. As a neurodivergent learner, I particularly appreciated his ability to break down driving techniques into simple, manageable steps. He helped me understand speed, make natural progress and build the confidence to join faster roads safely.

I can sometimes experience anxiety when driving, but John knew how to reassure me while helping me become a more confident, competent and safe driver.

His longer block lessons might seem like a lot initially, but they’re absolutely worth it. He takes the time to understand your individual needs, identify areas for improvement and prepare you thoroughly for your test routes.

Whether you’re a complete beginner, looking to improve or trying to master your driving skills, I would highly recommend John. He genuinely meets you at your level and helps you progress.

Thank you, John!

My instructor, Simon Nix, helped me pass my driving test first time in Worthing. Simon always explained techniques and manoeuvres very clearly, and he helped me understand my mistakes by showing me replays from the dash cam and comparing it to clear simulations, which was very helpful. He was very supportive and patient, which made learning to drive an enjoyable experience. I would definitely recommend Simon, he is a great instructor.

I had lessons with two different instructors from RED Driving School. Although both were polite and friendly, unfortunately, I was disappointed with the overall experience and feel I wasted a considerable amount of time and money.

I had over 12 years of driving experience in my home country, so my main goal was to adapt to UK driving and build confidence. However, with the first instructor, the constant reactions and corrections actually made me lose confidence and become more nervous about driving.

The second instructor was more experienced, but I still found the teaching approach stressful, with too many instructions and not enough focus on building confidence. I had around 10 hours of lessons to prepare for my test at Kings Heath, but I failed because of roundabouts in the test area that I had not been properly prepared for.

I understand that passing a test cannot be guaranteed, but I expected better preparation, particularly for the specific test centre I was booked for.

Based on my experience, if you already have significant driving experience and are looking to obtain a UK licence, I would recommend considering a good independent/local instructor rather than automatically choosing a large driving school. It could save you both time and money.

I wasn’t having good luck with instructors and right before my test decided to start up with Red Driving School Nottingham, my instructor was Ismail. I have just passed my test today after just 4 lessons with Ismail. I was not feeling very confident and quite overwhelmed with pressure. After just 11 hours with Ismail, I felt more confident and calm. He taught me valuable skills in such a short amount of time that I wasn’t taught else where in a years time. He is very kind and calm. His teaching methods were exactly what I needed. I would 1000% recommend Ismail if you are looking at starting your lessons, as I wish I was with him from the beginning, couldn’t have done it without him!!

Out of my three instructors he was my favourite one by a distance, great to talk to when driving and great at helping you understand the road.

I had nearly 20+ hours of driving lessons with Dean Syer, and I can honestly say he is an excellent driving instructor.

Dean was always professional, punctual, and genuinely passionate about his work. What I really appreciated was how structured his lessons were. Every lesson had a clear purpose, with specific areas to improve step by step. There were no random or repetitive lessons, everything was focused on making me a better and more confident driver.

After my lessons with Dean, I feel much more confident driving in the UK and handling different road situations.

If you are looking for an instructor who is straight to the point, focuses on what actually matters, and doesn't waste time with unnecessary talk, Dean is the perfect teacher for you.

100% recommended based on my experience with Dean.

I've recently managed to pass my test thanks to the help of Maryam! She is an incredible teacher and very patient. Easily one of the top five teachers I've had in my life! Highly recommended! ☺️

I took my driving lessons with Phil Durmush in Bromley, London and he helped me pass first time today. Phil is a great instructor who made me feel comfortable at all times but also made sure I was focused and actively learning. He’s the reason I passed, can’t thank him enough.

Geoff was a fantastic instructor and I passed first time under him. He’s very patient and explains things very well.

Jeff Gill from Sale did a great job helping me pass my driving test first time! Would highly recommend Jeff to anyone in the greater Manchester area, his guidance helped me to become a really safe driver.

Michael wenger made my lessons easy going and made me pass first try, I couldn’t recommend people to him more, the best instructor I could’ve wished for starting out and I’m forever thankful for him helping me pass!!

My instructor was Jamil Latif, i did my lessons and test in wakefield. He was great at giving instructions and was informative when i made mistakes. He was very helpful and friendly making lessons a comfortable environment. I passed first time with 2 minors

My instructor, Juliet Jones, in South East London region, is honestly so so so lovely. She’s really patient and encouraging, even when I was making all sorts of crazy and silly mistakes. She always explained things to me clearly and ensures that I understand where went wrong. Her patience and positivity really helped me to build confidence on the road.
You can feel that she genuinely cares about her students and wants the best for them. She makes every lesson very comfortable and enjoyable. I honestly cannot recommend her enough. I will forever miss her by my side on every drive. So grateful for her!

My instructor Azhar Shameer is a great instructor! I highly recommend this instructor to anyone looking to learn how to drive. From my first lesson he was patient, friendly and made me comfortable behind the wheel. His lessons are professional but fun and engaging. As a result, in each lesson I have seen major improvement in my driving skills!

Amazing experience with RED Driving School, and would HIGHLY RECOMMEND my wonderful driving instructor, Khalida Fakhri.

Thank you so much, Khalida! You are honestly the best driving instructor anyone could ask for, and the loveliest person too. I was so nervous about my driving test, but I passed first time thanks to your brilliant guidance!

Thank you for your endless patience, your clear, easy-to-follow instructions (you always explain everything so well!), your support and expertise, your belief in me, and your compassion throughout.

Thank you for building me up when I doubted myself, and, above all, for teaching me how to be a safe and confident driver.

I am infinitely grateful!

10/10 experience.

My driving instructor Antonio hani is a very good instructor would recommend to anybody he is very patient with his students I have managed to pass with his help

Tanisha Broady is a brilliant driving instructor! She’s very friendly and perfect for neurodivergent people, like me, who have struggled with driving and confidence. Today I passed my driving test first attempt because of her effective teaching methods and encouragement! I definitely recommend Tanisha!

My instructor Richard provided a very strong student directed learning experience, making sure every lesson was focussed on a specific area of driving which I felt I was struggling most with at the time, and offered very clear responses to any questions I had. I don't think I would have passed on my first attempt without his help, and I would strongly recommend him to anyone learning in Bridlington and the surrounding areas.

Andrew was an AMAZING driving instructor, he makes you feel so comfortable that even when you make mistakes it's not stressful or a big deal. He just lets you take the lead and build your confidence and the drives seemed to fly by. He genuinely cares about teaching and teaches you how to drive and not just how to pass the test.

He had more faith that I would pass than I did on test day and he was so calm that it helped calm my nerves and honestly made a huge difference.

He's a great person that will make learning so much better, 100% recommend.

P.s he's so enthusiastic about teaching that he may show up a day early every once in a while ;).
