Brilliant Brian
Brian was brilliant. From the initial communication to his excellent teaching and guidance with added experience gems of knowledge. I will definitely be booking on another course with Brian.

I couldn’t have asked for a better instructor. From the very first session, he made me feel completely at ease and helped build my confidence every step of the way. He has a real talent for explaining things clearly- breaking down each movement and safety step so it all makes sense.

What really stood out to me was how much he genuinely cared about my learning. He didn’t just tell me what to do- he showed me how to remember it. The simple strategies he shared made it so much easier to recall what to do while I was belaying my son on the walls. He also asked thoughtful questions to check my understanding, which made me feel supported and capable throughout.

He truly goes above and beyond. He even let me record a short video to watch before my next lesson, which really helped me refresh my memory and stay confident between sessions. Recommending to use a piece of rope to practise knots on at home was such a small but brilliant idea- it made all the difference!

Thanks to his patience, encouragement, and clear guidance, I feel more confident than ever in belaying. I actually look forward to every visit now. I can’t recommend him highly enough- a fantastic instructor who genuinely wants you to succeed.

Terrific delivery of the syllabus from Brian, he quickly identified his student’s capabilities and despite some very challenging conditions on day 1, he pitched the programme perfectly.

Everyone was included equally and challenged accordingly.

I was looking for a solid course to get better at navigation due to the demands of my job. The course ran by Rockyventures was very professional and wasted no time over the 2 day period.

Lots of learning followed by methodical assessments. Everything was relevant and well timed. I gained a lot more confidence navigating as we got out and got practical with it. I highly recommend this course to anyone looking to push themselves and get better at Nav and learn some new outdoors skills

My 16 yr old daughter and I attended the two day outdoor first aid training course last week. What an awesome couple of days! Brian’s lived experiences, massive knowledge and personal input was invaluable - taking the days learning from simply a curriculum to cover off a range of potential outdoor first aid situations to a huge knowledge bank where the learning became memorable and enjoyable. Brian ensured that we both had the best learning opportunities tailored to our own learning preferences and styles. We both now feel very comfortable with being able to handle ourselves and support anyone injured or ill in an outdoor environment (or indeed anywhere else!).

The weather was a bit rubbish but there was still plenty we could do outside and it gave it that extra ‘real’ feel too! The classroom environment was warm, welcoming, and comfortable, with a perfect mixture of outdoor environments to explore and practice our learning.

If you do anything outdoors at all, even simple family walks then this is something I would truly recommend. We are already considering the next set of learning we can progress on to in the coming months!

Had a great 2-day outdoor first aid course.
Not only did we cover all the content required to complete the certificate, Brian also related the conversations and practical scenarios back to our own individual circumstances of work, activities, sports etc. This made for a much more interactive and engaging weekend, feeling personalised to our individual situations. I would highly recommend this course with Rockyventures and Brian.

I attended the Rockyventures Bronze NNAS as well as an indoor rope climbing course and can confidently say that Brian is a brilliant instructor. I would recommend his courses to anyone who is looking to spend more time being active, whilst keeping safe.  His teaching style is engaging, friendly and supportive, whilst giving you space to think about/ perform the skills so that they really set in.
I left the courses with a solid new skill set that I was eager to use and develop.
I will be returning to Rockyventures for future Nav, Climbing and First Aid courses.

Second time I've been to Brian for learning a new skill. This time was belay rope climbing, was an absolute joy! Highly recommend Rockyventures and I will definitely request further knowledge Brian in the future.

Brian recently ran the NNAS Silver award for our group of Explorer Scouts, we all thought his teaching ability and professionalism was outstanding. He made teaching a mixed ability group look effortless with a down to earth friendly tone. The Explorers were full of praise. We all learned so much and came away with lots of confidence in our navigation abilities. We will definitely use his services again, I highly recommend him to all ages and abilities.
