I recently found myself needing to find a new residence and my budget limited me to needing a roommate. As a man in my late 50's approaching retirement age, it is not easy to find an appropriate home. Most people advertising rooms are looking for young working people, students, or women only. Through Roomies I was able to find a new home with a roommate who was close to my own age. We share similar values and appreciate similar lifestyles. The process was relatively simple but I did find that a number of people have not cleared their old listings off the site. Fortunately, the website is set up so the first listings that you see are the most recently active. The only reason I am not giving a 5 star rating are the inactive listings that still show as it did result in a bit of wasted time as I applied to each of them.

I found Roomies better response and more real people, than any other room rental sites(FB marketplace, Zumper, Spareroom, etc.)

I had an amazing experience using Roomies! As a first-time user, I was impressed by how easy, safe, and well-organized the process was.

I connected with my new roommate, Rico, starting with a phone conversation where we discussed important details like work schedule, budget, move-in date, and a bit about ourselves. We then did a virtual tour of my apartment, and he later came to see it in person.

We instantly clicked—he’s genuine, kind, and a great match. He’ll be moving in next week, and I couldn’t be happier!

Super expeditious replies via email. I accidentally opened two Roommate ads, which was lame. I emailed Customer Service and I was quickly responded to. And they righted my wrong.

Good website, has a lot of potential. I just don't know about them till someone told me. They need to market better and people use the app more.

My current Housemates who were found on Roomies are the Best and I'm not just saying thar. One month in and all is better than we'll. They are siblings who share a room and communicated through the owner of the restaurant that they work at since E flush is not their native language. Surprisingly, it has been a real blessing that I didn't see coming.

I love how easy it is to upload listings and to connect with people. I found it pretty safe. I found 2 of my tenants here for other rooms .

Easy to navigate and equally easy to use and interact with potential roomies.

Unlike SpareRoom where the focus is on properties, Roomies focuses on people. I received more engagement on Roomies because people were more likely to reach out to me first. Whenever I reached out to potential landlords/roommates on SpareRoom, most landlords/roommates cast a wide net and post the same room advertisement across multiple different websites. This contributes to landlords/roommates ghosting their own SpareRoom listings in favor of following up on leads from a different platform.

I took off one star because Roomies does not let you filter by furnished/unfurnished units or by Zip Code + search radius in the "advertisement" that you make to 'put yourself out there'. This lead to me getting several notifications from Roomies over roomshares that were a poor fit. But of the options which were good fits, I was still getting more responsive leads out of Roomies than SpareRoom.

SpareRoom is better at letting you find places to best suit your SPECIFIC needs. Roomies is better at keeping all users actively engaged.

Smooth, easy to understand interface. The price point is unbeatable! Thank you Roomies!
