I love my rug beautiful colour and pile. They do come from over seas which made me a bit hesitant but it arrived in a week. They are a good company to communicate with. I certainly would buy from them again. I only marked 1 star down as you would think it comes from a warehouse in New Zealand, it would be very costly should you have to send it back.

After reading the reviews, we were skeptical about buying. But we decided to take a chance because the price was so cheap. We purchased a 4m x 3m beautiful blue cobolt colour persian style rug. It arrived to New Zealand after only one week. The colour and quality of this very large rug is outstanding! We highly recommend!

Having thought this was a NZ company and then finding out it was not and having read some of the previous reviews I was very torn if I should order from them. But I could not find anything in the colours (turquoise / blue, bit of yellow, orange), size and price range I wanted. So I just took the plunge and trusted my gut feeling and ordered the Blue Havana Rug 245cm x 305cm. It arrived on the 24/11/2025 within 6 days of ordering, yes, folded (not rolled) and yes from the USA. I was nervous when I unpacked it due to some of the negative reviews, and yes, it did have folding greases and the fibres were quite flat and all squashed down. But within 2 days the rug recovered from being folded in a plastic bag, and I literally brushed the rug with one of my kids' hair brushes in all directions, and now it looks as flash and vibrant and colourful as online. Maybe it is a little less flush as I thought it would be, but otherwise I am very very happy (and relieved!). PS Yes, this is my first review - I just wanted to leave this comment as I feel people usually only leave negative comments, but other people's positive comments were so helpful, so I felt compelled to write this review!

Photo did not resemble the actual rug at all.
To return the rug, I would have to pay for postage to Switzerland, which would cost twice the price of the rug. Now I’m
Stuck with an ugly rug that I don’t want!

Just bought my second rug from rugs.co.nz, bought first one in 2022, they are shipped from The States but both times have arrived in Wellington NZ where I reside within one week. 3 year old smaller rug still looks brand new so they wear incredibly well. They are very reasonably priced as well. Definitely would recommend the company.

As per the other reviews, we received a very poor quality rug and when enquiring about returning (as a faulty product - which under NZ consumer protections I shouldn't have to pay for), they said it would cost me more than the cost of the rug to return it! They offered a partial refund, which looks like it is going through. But they are very very dodgy, and I would thoroughly recommend no-one in NZ uses these guys.

Order placed 9 days ago. Still has not been shipped even though they say it will ship 1-2 days. Chose this company as they said they would ship in 1-2 days and we need it for a photo shoot. Calling them guys straight to an international answering machine. What a farce. Wish I didn’t order from them.

Absolutely terrible customer service. Ordered a rug on the 24th of August and followed up two weeks later as I hadn’t had the tracking information. Despite sending payment receipts, screenshots of their own website with my order showing, they are claiming not to be able to find it in their system. Multiple emails back and forwards and I’ve finally reverted to PayPal for a refund.
They are not NZ based despite presenting themselves as such and I would never ever attempt to buy from them again!

These guys are listed as a NZ company but use you as the importer!
All returns are to an overseas address not NZ, so even though they say 30 day right of return, this is misleading as it cost 85% of the value of the rug or in my case rugs to send back.
If you push it, they offer a small refund, the difference you would be left with if you send back the rug ( cost of rug less freight) in my case $240, the credit never happened even though I asked several times, I just kept getting told it was with accounting and would take 2-3 days.
Rugs are very thin, same quality as you get at mitre 10, so very poor quality for price. Photos of colour and pattern misleading.
I told them I was going to report to consumer ombudsman as they are listed as NZ company and consumers guarantee applies ( re: misrepresentation and return to NZ address) they stopped corresponding.
I feel extremely ripped off.

Be warned: “Rugs NZ” is not a New Zealand company. They ship poor quality rugs from overseas and force you to pay hundreds to return them to Switzerland or the US. Deceptive branding and appalling customer service — I was offered $168 back on a $650 order and then they cut off contact when I pushed back.

I wish had read the reviews before I purchased. They are misleading they hold themselves out as a New Zealand company - they are not. I realise I should have done my due diligence butI found to my horror that I was the importer and that customs withheld my order until I applied for a customs code. Rugs could not have been more unhelpful adding to the stress of the whole experience. The quality of rugs is what you pay for not great but does the trick but the after sale service is appalling I won’t be purchasing again and I will encourage everyone I know to avoid purchasing from them.

After receiving my jute runner, it was quite hideous looking, very thick, extremely uncomfortable to stand on given its for a kitchen, so I went to find details for return and discovered this is a US based company and then found these other reviews saying the same, it's more expensive to return from NZ to the US so I've put this down to an experience I'll always now check an online order return policy and location, it's just very misleading with the name rugs.co.nz appearing to be a NZ company.

I didn't realise this company was in the USA the website is totally MISLEADING - they are NOT NZ based. Have reported to the commerce commission - hopefully nobody else is mislead. If you need to return your rugs, you'll pay more for shipping than you paid for the rugs!!

Pretending to be a local NZ company, but actually based in the US. Any return for any reason will be at your expense - TO THEIR US WAREHOUSE! Rug poor quality? Too bad, you pay to return and ps return fees are more than you paid for the rug. Don't get caught! Also terrible customer care experience with agent named Mark. Contacted them to enquire about the return policy. Mark assumed without checking, I am in the US ( even though i live chat then from .nz site address) and provided completely incorrect information. Only once I asked the return shipping fee be calculated did he realize my locale. I feel like I dodged a bullet by checking first.

Having read some of the previous reviews I was anticipating the worst. However our outdoor rug arrived from the east coast of the USA 5 days from the time of order. It certainly exceeded our expectations and was in perfect condition.

I made a large personal purchase of 6 rugs for home. Most of them were good, one had dome bad finishings but I didn’t pay much attention, because another one of the rugs had two imperfections right in the middle, plus one stain. I’ve contacted rugs NZ and they informed I had to pay to ship the rug back. Everyone knows that it’s not worth it, so I requested the partial refund. The compensation offered by them was ridiculously low, close to nothing really. And eventually they just stopped replying to my emails. So just be aware, their customer service is not great, they don’t really listen to the customer, there was not much fairness or conversation. If you’re lucky to get a rug that is good with no defect, then you are probably fine. But in my case, I was left with a very bad experience.

Purchased 2x rugs on clearance , not sure what they would be like given the price , however when they arrived great colour and size and great value for money.
Took a week from South Carolina to NZ , super fast and packaged well .
Notified of progress with shipping updates as well

Rug is very poor quality - fibres started to 'mat' together almost immediately. Return policy (own expense to the USA) means that this company gets away with the poor quality. Don't believe the 'testimonials' on the website (noting thee is no capacity to leave an actual review on any products on the site). The rug was fairly inexpensive but not super-cheap - quality on the other hand was extremely cheap! Avoid this company like the plague!

We bought a large rug (3mx 4m) off the website. It was obvious that it was not an NZ origin business and we were a bit nervous given some of the online reviews. However the price was well below half of an equivalent rug in an NZ shop and the selection was huge. We placed the order 28th December and it arrived on 3rd Jan from the USA. The rug looks exactly as shown. Only time will tell how long it lasts but so far we're very happy.

I am actually very surprised this was a good experience. First off, the address showing on the website I wanted to purchase from was rugs.co.nz
Which after I had purchased turned out to be irugs. I had read bad reviews about irugs. The return policy is terrible (customer to return to USA or Switzerland at their own cost - however this was clear on their website) but the price was comparatively cheap. We thought we would take a punt. Firstly, it was shipped and delivered fast (about 10 days from America to rural nz) and while the quality isn't amazing (but it was cheep) it looks almost exactly like the picture. The app on the site to put the rug in the room worked and comparing the images of the imposed rug and the real rug it looks almost identical. I would never usually write a review. But I am so impressed (because my expectations were very low) I have gone to the effort.
