However the 2 day £1.75 price is highly visible and the 24.95 not. I was in urgent need of the manual I paid for which is perhaps why I failed to do my usual due diligence on the small print here. However you can make whatever you want catch the eye in an ad or on your webpage. And this is what second manual have done to the detriment it looks like of many of our bank accounts. second manual .com -could you please provide us- your 'customers' with the breakdown of what proportion of company income comes from customers who weren't aware they were infact still your customers v more transparent sources

Similar to other customer complaints, I downloaded a manual at £1.49 and now I see that they are about to charge me for a full subscription.
I have messaged them twice to see if they will reverse this charge as it is not obvious when you make a purchase.
Their response is as follows:
Our offer was clearly presented throughout your experience on our website, and our monthly subscription fee was detailed in the terms and conditions you accepted. Therefore, we regret to inform you that we are unable to honor your refund request.
I am appalled that a company can get away with this daylight robbery and I will attempt to get my money back.
I do not really have any more to add to my review other than the monthly charge of £29.40 was not obvious and I would never have signed up to that if it were. I am a 66 year old woman who turned to a Google search for help with a garden tool and am unlikely to need any further assistance.

I'm gonna guess the business model is based about getting their grubby little hands on that first subscription payment and then if it carries in from month to month it's the suckers fault.
Nasty little people hiding behind what they admit in Trustpilot replies is not clearly signposted on their website/communication.
Translation "it's in no way obvious and we have done everything in our power to make it that way".
Didn't get my money (first payment) back but did get some satisfaction by ranting at the script reading automaton on the other end of the phone. (You can be better. Get another job. Anything. Be a constructive member of society).
I would rather be destitute than earn a living like these scumbags. I hope karma is real. 😆

Once I had paid (by card) £1.49 for a garden mower manual to be downloaded as a single purchase, only then did I notice that they would then charge me £27.90 PER MONTH (without any indication what this would be for) as a recurring charge. Since my card details were by then on "SecondManua"l's system, I instantly cancelled my card. I've almost fallen for this sort of Scam in the past - again for someone with an Irish web address and an unreachable postal address.
DO NOT GO NEAR THEM.

Second Manual is a scam. They pop up on your search engine and charge a small price for an operator manual that they never intend to provide. They may send various documents and links that cannot be opened. DO NOT USE.
Specifically, I paid for an operator manual which the company claimed they had and it would be sent to me by email within a few minutes after payment. After an hour I called to ask for what I had paid for. Initially, they sent me an email with the document. However, it was in a format (not a PDF) that I could not open. I called again, and they sent a link to another site which purported to have the operator manual I had purchased. I could not access this document either. After calling yet again, it was clear that the company had little interest in correcting the problem. The company could have downloaded the document from the link they sent me and sent me the actual document. Their business model relies upon the likelihood that no one will complain about failed delivery for such a small sum.
I have asked for a refund which they will not provide as they claim to have sent me valid documents. They have encouraged me to contact customer service, which I have done but to no avail. I had to cancel my credit card as I am not sure this is a legitimate business.

Dreadful company. Avoid. My 91 year old mother accidentally purchased a manual and 2 payments came out of her bank before she realised. She contacted her bank who put a stop on further payments. I contacted the company requesting a refund but they flatly refused. Wrote back again and got no reply. Go elsewhere

It’s a scam, advertise £1.49 and they take that and you get the manual but then they hit you with £25 subscription. Fortunately stopped by Halifax.

Same as everyone else I was scammed by this company to. I have emailed them and I'm waiting for a reply. I have reported them to the bank as they have 2 x £24.90 from my card and the original manual was for a different model from the one I requested so was of no use to me anyway, that I put down to experience but I am actively seeking a refund of £49.80.

Downloaded a manual for my dishwasher. The system set up a subscription that I did not request. In all fairness it seems to have been resolved and I will receive a refund but I'd avoid them at all costs in the future.

I would give them zero if it were possible. I paid for a subscription unknowingly when all I wanted was a Timex watch user manual. I was charged £1.49 which I had to pay in advance. It was not in the drop down menu. I emailed them and eventually received it. However, when I looked at me credit card bill, they charged me £24.90 as well. When I called them they told me it was for a subscription. When I told them I only wanted the manual and I had no idea about a subscription, and wanted to cancel it. They cancelled it but refused to refund me as I had agreed to the terms and conditions. I have had to go through a charge back procedure with the credit card company. I have seen other reviews saying similar things. A company not to be trusted based on my experience and I would advise anyone not to use them.
An addition to my review. After contacting them to inform them of my actions I have now received a refund for the full amount 8 January 2025. It would have saved me a lot of time and effort if they had refunded when I initially requested one.

I paid for a handbook, and was sent the wrong one. I was then supposed to pay 20odd pounds for my membership. I hadn't seen that was automatic. Luckily I managed to cancel everything

I could leave less I would. I contacted to purchase a washing machine manual for a new machine as they are no longer with machine or free on line. They eventually sent me a manual for a cooker? despite specifying washing machine and the model number.
I stopped everything with my bank fFRAUD DEPT and after seeing the small print cancelled the "subscription."

AVOID AVOID AVOID I have been battling for weeks now to get back all the money they owe me. They have refunded less than 50% of the money they owe me. They say they have paid m money but it has not arrived in my bank account. They now say the matter is closed; it is NOT for me. . They say they will issue a refund then do not.I intend to pursue them through legal process. I suspect there are many many claims against them for not making their policies CLEAR, SPECIFIC and INFORMED. More details as requested:
1st contact April 2024 - purchased one manual at £24.90 plus test charge of £1.49. I realised this was expensive for a single manual but needed urgently. Then was charged £24.90 each and every subsequent month until and including July 2025 when I cancelled subscription ie 15 extra payments =£373.50 Saw TV programme Money Box about unfair practices ie terms & conditions that are NOT CLEAR, SPECIFIC or INFORMED . I thought the £24.90 was a one off price [ after all who would need a subscription?] Considered this met these criteria of not being CLEAR SPECIFIC & INFORMED .Also on TRUST PILOT in a review with a similarly they admitted their policies were NOT CLEAR and gave a full refund. Even more annoying that they are treating customers's complaints differently. Plus they do not do what they say they will do inc. when I phoned customer service and they said they had already refunded me -I had an email to that effect - not true. Email and 6x £24.90 refund arrived following day. [£149.40]. I complained by email again . Subsequent response said they would £174.30 refund - never arrived - I eventually received 2x £24.90 = £49.80. Total refund now =£199.20. Outstanding amount now £373.50- £199.20 = £174.30. I have not received this , nor have they sent proof of refund. "they consider the matter closed" I do not. I am dyslexic but even if I have got my maths wrong they have access to all the data and can see from their records exactly what they owe me. Frustratingly phone call/emails/correspondence are invariably met with polite but ineffective responses and cetainly not eh full refund I should receive.
