This company is a scam
This company is a scam. They are holding about $10K worth of GE stock that I accumulated many years ago as a GE employee. I simply want that stock transferred into my Schwab account. They want me to enlist a broker. I don't have/need a broker. So, in addition to tremendous fees just to get the stock out I have to hire a broker. These jokers clearly just want to hang on to my money. Avoid them if you can!
Denied access to account
Shareowneronline denies me access to my online account, despite my using a valid user ID and password. I click on "Having trouble logging in?" and their website indicates that they will email me a link to log on. I have tried this numerous times, and I never received an email from them. I have also used their online form to submit a query about my account, and their website indicates that they will respond in 1 to 2 business days. I've posted numerous queries over the past month or so and have never heard back from them.
Where's my money?
I sold some stock, and entered my bank information for electronic transfer. The transfer never happened, instead a check was issued, which takes awhile to get here. There was no notification that there was something wrong with the electronic transfer, I had to call them to find out where my money was. I was told there was an automated system that rejected the transfer of funds into my bank. I asked what went wrong, what was the reason for the rejection, and the gentlemen just repeated that it failed. I asked who I could talk to regarding the reason for failure, and he just parroted his last answer several times. I called the headquarters finally got put on hold for 15 minutes. Called back, finally got a rep, put on hold AGAIN. Wasted another 20 minutes while the rep "researched" and came back finally with the same non-answer.
Very bad experience.
Absolutely the most frustrating…
Absolutely the most frustrating experience I have ever dealt with. I would rate this company at zero if I could. 8 months into trying to transfer ownership of my deceased mothers stock holdings and still getting nowhere. It's almost like they are deliberately effing with me. I think I need to call the company that issued the stock and tell them to sever ties with EQ. WORST EVER!!!
Very long wait times
Very long wait times, Indian cutomer service with accent issues making them hardcto understand. Waiting for my confirmation # for closing my account.
DO NOT BUY STOCK IN ANY COMPANY IF SHAREOWNER IS THE GO BETWEEN!
Nothing Works
Followed Instructions exactly as per the letter sent to me to verify my interest in my late mothers shares to prevent them being treated as abandoned and thus confiscated by the State. Just get error messages such as Account Not Recognised or Service Not Available on line.
If you don’t care about 1)being able to…
If you don’t care about 1)being able to name transfer on desth beneficiaries, or 2) having online access to your account, or 3) being able to reach a live person to talk to within 1-2 business days, EQ is for you. No idea why Honeywell trusts them with their stock but I need to get my shares transferred out as soon as possible. EQ makes it very difficult to do business . I’d go anywhere but EQ.
Getting your own money out should not require a pilgrimage
I am a shareholder. The stock is mine. That should be the end of the story. Instead, EQ Shareowner Services has turned what ought to be a routine transfer into a months-long bureaucratic obstacle course that would be farcical if it weren't so genuinely maddening.
The process demands a Medallion Signature Guarantee that can only be obtained in person at a US bank branch. Fine. But here is where EQ Shareowner truly distinguishes itself: they cannot tell you who actually needs to sign. Is it me, the account holder? My mother, the original custodian? Both of us? Nobody knows. The documentation contradicts itself, customer support offers a different answer each time, and there is no physical branch anywhere on earth where you can walk in and ask someone to clarify. They collect your assets, make them nearly impossible to retrieve, shroud the exit process in deliberate vagueness, and then leave you to figure it out alone. Oh, but there is one way to make the Medallion requirement disappear: pay them a $100 "waiver fee." The problem that they created, and that they alone benefit from prolonging, vanishes the moment you hand over more money. There's a word for an organization that takes your money, manufactures obstacles to getting it back, and then charges you to remove those obstacles. I'll let you think of it yourself.
At no point in this process has EQ Shareowner communicated clearly, proactively, or helpfully. Every requirement surfaces only after you've already completed the previous step. The website is opaque, the documentation scattered, and customer support either unavailable or unhelpful when found.
If you are considering holding assets with EQ Shareowner Services, don't. And if, like me, you already do — I wish you luck getting them back. You'll need it.
Ridiculous verification system!
Verifying my identity to manage my own money on ShareOwner Online felt like applying for a government security clearance. Driver’s license, facial recognition, the whole production. This is an antiquated, overbuilt system that treats routine account access like a federal background check. I’m trying to look at my shares, not cross a border.
The worst part is how clunky and dated the whole process feels. It’s slow, it’s invasive, and it asks for far more than should be necessary to log into an account I already own. Plenty of financial platforms handle verification without making customers jump through this many hoops.
And when something goes wrong, good luck getting help. Customer service is outsourced and impersonal, the wait is long, and I couldn’t get a clear answer or actually resolve my issue. I hung up more confused than when I started.
This system needs a serious overhaul. Make verification reasonable, modernize the interface, and put support people in place who can actually solve problems. Until then, it’s a frustrating experience start to finish.
Sent paper checks after I paid extra for direct deposit and unalived transaction history & docs for one of my holdings
I paid $5 per sales transaction last year and provided bank account information for direct deposit, and Shareowner Online mailed paper checks instead. The current foul up is that the history of one of my holdings, including tax documents, has completely disappeared from the site. I sent a Contact Us message through the platform re this issue, got an email notification there was a reply, but the message will not open using any browser, after clearing caches, etc. I will only deal with a broker from now on for any stocks not managed by Computershare, who in contrast have a navigable site and clear, functioning processes.

Terrible communication via their online helpline. Language is a problem. Staff may speak English but they don't understand it. They do not understand straightforward questions and consequently give incorrect replies. I agree with the comments made by other customers. Close this company down.
Very frustrating to deal with Customer…
Very frustrating to deal with Customer Service. I am trying to get expired dividend checks reissued for my mother. I contacted them via email and received a response on how to request both the reissuance of the dividend checks and cashing in the stock she has. I sent all requested information exactly as asked and the stock was eventually sold (it took forever) but no dividend checks were reissued. Now they tell me I have to resend everything to them to get a check reissued when all I am asking is to reissue it to the exact same name exact same address. Then they also tell me the POA information I sent is incomplete but it was complete enough to allow them to sell her stock. Makes absolutely zero sense.
absolute catastrophe
absolute catastrophe. trying to get money back from them is like pulling teach/esp if you are an heir to an esate that has hares that are held by this company.
have been working on this for years now. they will make it as complicated as possible / i am sure lots of people simply give up in despair.
If I could give EQ Shareowner no stars…
If I could give EQ Shareowner no stars I would, this company delay transfers, they only allow about 20 words max which can be sent on emails to them (yet they can send longer emails to their customers). Their toll free number does not work and I'm sure they know that and don't want to receive calls. They have very concerning processes and their portal and communication is awful. Avoid at all costs.
Very difficult to deal with and deny…
Very difficult to deal with and deny access to your assets. Nick is combative, smug and power hungry. It's a shame any publicly traded company uses these people...worthless!
If I could give a zero..
If I could give a zero...
I don't generally have feelings about on-line websites and up until this year, my experience with shareowner was that I could log into my account, download my forms and go about my life. This year, I couldn't remember my password went to retrieve it -- put in my social, my address, birthday etc, and then they asked me to connect with Jumio and input a govt ID and take a selfie -- and honestly, that's just insane.I'm not doing all that and it shouldn't be that difficult to get into an online account. You don't need that information you already have way too much identifying information.
Intrusion
Shareowneronline has started using a company called Jumio who validate logins to their website by using a picture/government issued id. I find this to be the most intrusive process I have seen. I will close my accounts.
If Zero was an option...
If Zero was an option, I would certainly select that here. I've been trying for months to cash out stocks and cannot get access to my account, get a physical statement, get access to the web site. I concur with everyone here. This is the worst company I've dealt with.
Try to recover my account is a…
Try to recover my account is a nightmare. Got through and then they send me to Jumbo. I am not going to take picture of my ID and send it . Its more time than its worth. I will be looking to transfer my account somewhere else. There has to be a better way.
The worst company I've ever dealt with.
The worst company I've ever dealt with. Thieves.
