I have used this online shop on a few occasions. The McElroy fabrics are beautiful and good quality. Yes you need to be patient with delivery as others have said. I had one incorrect fabric in an online order, but decided to keep it as I liked it and it was similar to the one ordered. I recently visited one of their pop ups and was not impressed....On entry was told per metre, McElroy fabrics were £12 and dead stock £10. Everything was jumbled up on the tables (set up that way) meaning you had no idea which price bracket you are choosing from. I found Rose and Hubble cotton which usually costs around £7/8 mark... would they have charged me £10 per m for this? I picked up a 100% linen and was charged £12 a metre being told it was McElroy. When I looked on their website the fabric was in fact Ex Hobbs deadstock...still cheaper than the original online price, just! There are some genuine good deals to be found at one of these events, I would advise you do your research first and know what you are picking up before you buy!

I ordered some samples at £3 each but they didn't arrive. I contacted Sherwoods and was told someone would contact me in a couple of days but they didn't. I had to ask Paypal to help get my money back which they eventually did. I personally wouldn't order fabric from them as I wouldn't trust them to deliver.

Long wait for order to arrive. I ordered in March and 26 working days later (to a mainland UK address), after I had contacted customer service to ask for a refund - it arrived. If they had not stated 5-7 days delivery at the time of ordering I wouldn't be disappointed. They used to be good at delivery and the fabric and range of fabric is good. Please provide realistic delivery times.

Been waiting 6.5 weeks for a fabric order. Not hugely surprised - an order around the same time last year took 8 weeks - but you assume that a company will learn from problems...Asking myself if it's worth waiting or if I should claim a refund (if I can get an response) The fabric was a great deal in the sale and the quality is usually very good but not being able to plan projects is incredibly frustrating. There are a lot of small fabric companies who have excellent customer service and deserve the business more.

I ordered fabric and was sent the wrong one. Customer service was quick to reply to say that they would check the warehouse immediately. I heard nothing. I emailed again. Was told the same thing. Nothing. I emailed again and then Claire said she would personally check when visiting the warehouse and reply to me the next day. Nothing. I have now emailed twice without a reply. It’s either complete incompetence or a scam. I would recommend potential customers save their money and go elsewhere. Do not buy from this company.

Service is so slow it's not funny any more. Endlessly frustrating. Current order has been 'processing' for two weeks. Previous one took three weeks. It's lovely stuff when it finally arrives, but there's lots of lovely fabric out there. I won't shop here again.

I placed my order on the 9th of September and received it only on the 1st of October. 22 days.

No information on delivery at all, Customer Service replied for an update on my order two days later only to say that my message was forwarded to the warehouse.
Also, struggled to find phone number for Customer Support on the website.

Service delayed, bad communication, no information on the delivery time at all.

However, fabric variety is good and my order arrived wrapped up in a fancy golden paper, thank you.

The fabric quality is outstanding—exactly as described and even better in person. This company deserves five stars for both product and service. the staff were honestly some of the nicest people I’ve dealt with online. Highly recommend them!

A wonderful and very rewarding trip to Sherwood Fabrics open weekend today. Spoilt for choice with so many lovely good quality fabrics and delighted with my chosen selection. It was nice chatting to the other customers sharing patterns and dress making top tips. Very friendly, helpful and knowledgeable owner and staff and a privileged tour around the extensive warehouse to end with. Highly enjoyable and satisfactory shopping experience.

I'm a repeat customer of Sherwoods and the fabrics are generally good quality and as described. The remnant bags are particularly good value and in the bigger ones often have decent garment length pieces.

Down to three stars though because the dispatch timescales, always a bit on the slow side, have now dipped to the ridiculous.

My current order was dispatched 21 calendar days after order, 13 "working days" after order if you use the Mon-Thurs guidance on their website, or 16 if you factor in that they are clearly working Fridays because my order shipped on the Friday....

This might be nearly ok on a heavily discounted sale order with free shipping,as mine was. However far better if there was any visible attempt to respond to customer enquiries, or provide a realistic shipping estimate beyond the "7-10 working days" in the website header.

I've used this supplier previously as their fabrics are good quality. However, after nearly 2 weeks since my order, and not the "4-5 working days", I won't be ordering again. They refunded the delivery charge, at my request but, altogether very disappointing experience.

20 days later and my order STILL hasn’t arrived. Customer services offer no resolution and ignore requests for a refund. 5 days shipping is what is stated on their dispatch email, there’s no excuse. Wish I’d read these reviews before ordering, wish I’d just ordered off Amazon!

Ordered on 29th December, waited seven weeks and was then sent another customers order. Trying to sort out the mix up but no reply to emails and there's no number to call. They have very tempting promotions but it's not worth the hassle.

Paid for a significant order on 15 Nov 2024.
10 days for order to dispatch and now it has been delivered somewhere else.

Please get back to my emails.
Would not shop here again or recommend at all.

Lovely shop that provides great quality fabrics at reasonable prices. I often buy coating and dress fabrics here.

2 weeks for despatch is way too long (they say 7 working days but don't include fridays as working days so misleading even if you do read their terms) and when the fabric eventually arrived nearly 3 weeks later, the colours were very different to the pictures on the website, lesson learnt to never buy fabric online. I've never had to wait so long for an online delivery, other online fabric shops have despatched at least next day, even during COVID i never waited this long.
