I wish I could give zero stars. My experience with Shift4 was frustrating from the start, and I would not recommend them to any business owner. We were charged $1500 for a service we do not benefit from, but it is mandatory. Auto-lock you on a long-term contract
Overcharging: The rates I was quoted did not match what I was actually charged. My statements showed totals well above what I expected, and it was hard to tell how they were calculated.
Hidden fees: Fees kept appearing that were never clearly explained when I signed up. Every month brought something new, and the pricing was anything but transparent. A merchant service should make costs easy to understand, not bury them in the fine print.
Unfriendly customer service: When I called to ask about the charges, I got a runaround. Representatives were dismissive and unhelpful, and I never got a clear answer. I felt like a number, not a customer whose business they valued.
As a small business owner, every dollar matters, and I need a payment partner I can trust. Shift4 lost that trust. I will never use their merchant service again. Read your contract carefully and compare other providers before signing.

Lee McCourt has been absolutely fantastic to deal with. He is super helpful, very pleasant, and always goes above and beyond to make sure I’m happy with the service I receive. He regularly checks in to ensure I’m satisfied and that everything is going well, which really shows how much he values his customers.
