I've just come back from a two night stay at this hotel, in one of their cottage suites to be precise but didn't enjoy it.
My son was getting married at the Old Blacksmith's adjacent to the hotel so he booked my wife, my granddaughter and myself into one of their cottage suites as dogs are permitted there.
The cottage looked pleasant enough but there were a few issues which required seeing to which I informed the management about. These were:- One of the bedrooms had insufficient lighting as some of the light bulbs didn't work. In this same bedroom the wall panel heater didn't work which meant I had a cold bedroom for my stay. The bathroom extractor fan didn't work and as there wasn't a window bathroom odours were a problem also when I had a shower in the mornings the room was filled with steam making it difficult to see. This must have been faulty for some time as there was mould growing around the ceiling. There was a room safe for leaving valuables but this was broken. The outside door entry light barely illuminated and it was hard to see in the dark upon entry.
When I reported all this to the management I was told it would be seen to right away, no one bothered and it was like this for the duration.
Most of the staff were pleasant enough so I can't fault them.
We had our breakfasts and evening meals at the hotel itself, including the wedding reception but I'm afraid these were only mediocre.
If my son hadn't paid for my stay I certainly would have created a stink but as it was I didn't want him to feel he'd let us down.
When I was checking out I spoke to senior management about my concerns but all I got was a cursory 'sorry about this sir' and that was all.
