Great company, super friendly, non pushy staff

Smiths have now become our favourite store when looking for furniture.

Excellent well stocked store. First class service. Friendly, helpful and knowledgeable support without being pushy. Would definitely recommend a visit.

We ordered and received our Ercol dining chairs promptly. Unfortunately one of the carver chairs was damaged on arrival, the delivery team returned it to Harrogate, without question! Several of the showroom staff contacted us to reassure us of the plan for its replacement. When we were discussing this, we requested that the carver be changed to an ordinary dining chair which Smith's were happy to arrange for us. The service we have received throughout has been First Class

It's a longish story.... We recently bought an Himolla chair in Spain and were really impressed with it. When we returned to the UK we sought suppliers of Himolla. Our nearest supplier only had a very limited display and could only supply what they had on show. However I was fortunate enough to come across Smiths in Harrogate and in particular to John. He was a tremendous help and he even got Himolla to say they could, as a special, sort the same chair we had in Spain. As it turns out the displays and showroom in Harrogate was amazing and John helped with all the various models, leathers, colours, and options. We bought 2 chairs from the models on display in the showroom. John and all the staff we met were superb (excellent in fact). We cannot praise them highly enough. Colin and Gillian

Five star service from Frank and the team, our new Tempur bed delivered early, excellent delivery and bed set up for us. Five star product from Smiths, just as we had expected.

It is the first time I have ordered from this company and they were friendly, extremely helpful and very knowledgeable regarding the product I wished to purchase
After a lot of research Smiths came in at a very competitive price beating all major high street stores
I will most definitely purchase from this company again and am looking forward to visiting the shop in person

We did some research and decided one of the shops to visit was Smiths of Harrogate because of their showroom and the advertised Himolla display.
We arrived from out of area to find a massive selection of options and started to home in on the Himolla range.
Straight away we were impressed with the level of knowledge the salesman had straight off the cuff without the usual “oh let me go and check that for you”.
Chris started to chat to us and within minutes we realised he knew his stuff.
It’s the sign of a very good salesman when he hits a perfect balance between not being too pushy but sharing his knowledge.
You don’t want someone overbearing but you do want as much information as you can before during that viewing.
I seriously recommend anyone sofa hunting to pay a visit to Smiths.
It was well worth our two journeys from Middlesbrough.
Nothing was too much trouble even though we had our shoes off and made ourselves at home for around an hour on the sofa to make sure it was the right one for us.

Extremely helpful service from Christopher in guiding us through the choice of Himolla chairs and various options. It was a very pleasurable experience because he gave us so much time and information.

My wife and I were greeted at the door by two very friendly faces one called John the other person's name escapes me. Guided to the bedding department by John who said that he was just starting his second week with the company. He introduced us to Frank the bedding specialist. We had a chat about our histories and where we had come from, mentioned the challenges of Bradford and about a visit to a comedy show at the Shay in Halifax, two teams trying to play football. This banter plus and excellent Latte was all very cordial and made our visit very pleasant.
We had already done our homework on our prospective purchase of a wooden King Size bed frame it was all down to price and conditions. I am pleased to say that John and Frank of Smiths of Harrogate were able to satisfy our needs on all counts. Any questions we had were answered quickly and efficiently. We made our purchase with John and thanked both John and Frank for there help in making our visit very pleasant, I should had that our Shih Tzu Lewis also enjoyed his visit to the store and his treats from Frank. We will be definitely back when its time to choose a mattress.

On the day the snow came we didn’t think you would be open- not only were you open you knew what you were talking about and showed us many different options to make sure we chose the right bed- thank you!

An excellent range of furniture which allowed a good informed choice to be made by ourselves. The service by Paul was excellent with no pressure being made as he was friendly as well as professional. All in all a great experience and we look forward to the new sofa and chairs.

The customer service I received was second to none. The two gentlemen who delivered my new chair were excellent, they are a credit to your company and there families. I'm also very happy with my new Himola recliner chair. Good old fashioned customer service is a rarity today.

I cannot fault this company! I contacted them via WhatsApp initially and had a speedy response to my request. I’ve placed an order today over the phone and the lady could not have been more friendly and helpful. I used this company on the recommendation of my cousin and would not hesitate to recommend them to others

I’ve used Smiths in the past and always had good, if somewhat expensive, experiences. However, my most recent interaction with them was deeply disappointing.

Following some building work, Smiths were hired to refit my carpet. Unfortunately, the experience was far below the standard I had previously come to expect. Only one fitter was sent, despite us being assured that two would be provided. Possibly as a result, the quality of the fitting was poor, with the carpet raised in some areas. Additionally, the skirting boards were damaged in several places where the fitter’s knife had cut into them. To make matters worse, the fitter was extremely rude when the damage was pointed out.

While Smiths admitted that the damage was unacceptable, their response fell short of expectations. They highlighted that they had stored the carpet and price-matched it when initially purchased, suggesting that they had made little profit from the job. As compensation, they offered to cover the cost of paint for me to repair the damage myself.

Given the overall experience, I had hoped for a far better resolution. Sadly, I cannot recommend Smiths based on this encounter and will not be using them again.
