Been here for a meal on many occasion's, even for a wedding anniversary meal, but this time was hugely disappointed. My husband and myself sat at one of a number of tables that were empty. We waited for over 20 minutes for our order to be taken. Whilst waiting a group came in and took their seats on a reserved table. Their order was delivered to their table before our order. When our order finally arrived the food was cold. My husband had sausage, chips and beans and I had ordered a small roast dinner. The sausage and chips arrived at the table before the beans. The chips were cold and when the beans were brought my husband asked for them to be warmed up. It was at this point that I asked for mustard for my dinner. The waiting staff took his plate away, returning a short time later with my husbands sausage and chips but no mustard. The vegetables on my roast were lukewarm. Left a note on the table expressing my thoughts. Might be the last time we eat here.

Having frequently visited Smokeys over lots of years, we have noted that over the last few months the standard of cleanliness in the dining area has dropped to a very low standard, especially the far end to the left of the entrance. The actual surroundings are extremely tatty - with grubby, falling ceiling tiles, greasy picture frames, filthy carpet and dirty menus. The tables aren't being cleaned after each customer and the condiment containers leave a lot to be desired when touching them. The most recent visit required us to dunk our cutlery into the pot of boiling water that came with the tea, because it hadn't been inspected after washing and had bits of stuck on food. We are aware it's not a top end restaurant but customers deserve to eat in clean surroundings with clean accessories, to minimise catching someone else's germs. Also the toilet floor doesn't look as if it gets cleaned very much especially on this latest visit.
It's such a shame as the food - if you catch it on the right day - is very good.
It's very rare for me or my companions to complain, but we are so disappointed to watch our once favourite eatery spiralling into a place where you need to wipe your feet to leave the building. 😭
