Deeply disappointing experience managing our Meta ad campaigns. Despite being a female-focused luxury clothing brand, our ads were repeatedly shown to older men, something we raised in writing on multiple occasions. We also had to repeatedly ask for products we'd explicitly excluded to be removed from campaigns, as they were discontinued and eventually removed from our website anyway, only for them to keep reappearing in the ads.
The ad copy itself was often visibly generated by ChatGPT, with none of our brand's tone or voice, to the point where we ended up having to write our own copy, overlook the ad performance, and monitor who it was being advertised to, which raises the question of what we were actually paying for. Most of the ads were run wide open using Meta's Advantage+ targeting, a setup anyone can do themselves. We expected the agency to work from our existing customer data and fine-tune targeting to reach our core customer; instead, our ads were shown to everyone, including men aged 65+.

During our final contracted month, no changes or optimisation were made to our campaigns at all, despite continued daily ad spend, while the Performance Marketing Specialist was on leave and no one else was assigned to cover the account to improve the performance.

It's a shame, because the CEO came across as a genuinely nice guy, and we really wanted this partnership to work long term. Unfortunately, the actual experience with the team didn't match that.

We raised these issues consistently from the very start of the contract. Would not recommend this service to any brand that cares about how it looks and connects with its customers, in fact, I wouldn't recommend this service to anyone. Even someone with no marketing background can set up a Meta Advantage+ campaign that targets men and women across all ages. You don't need an agency for that.

Extraordinary price increase with inadequate communication

We were extremely disappointed with StoreLab’s handling of a pricing change from £79 to £999.

We initially received a generic email stating that pricing changes would be coming and that further details would follow. Those details were never sent.

The only follow-up communication we received was an email giving us one month to either accept the new pricing or leave the platform, despite never having received the promised explanation or breakdown of the changes.

By that point, we had already invested significant time and resources into the platform. The experience left us feeling hoodwinked from the start — once committed, the choice becomes accepting an extortionate price increase or abandoning work already completed.

We ultimately chose to leave the platform, despite the considerable amount of work required to transition away within a short timeframe, as a matter of principle. We do not believe this is an acceptable or ethical way to treat business customers.

For a service aimed at businesses, this lack of transparency around such a dramatic pricing change is unacceptable. We’ve lost trust as a result and would strongly encourage other companies to proceed with caution and obtain absolute clarity on future pricing before committing.

edit* after storelabs response - we did receive an initial email telling us about the potential increase and that we would receive a further email detailing the increase this was never sent by storelab - when asked to supply this email storelab went silent on us and blanked us - I can suply full transcripts of the emails if anybody needs convincing of whether this was dealt with professionally or not and as for results - they use order stats for orders that we would've received anyway ..... so like I said before - buyer beware!

I have recently been working with Storelab building customer experience for my brands Shopify website. It really has been an excellent and very positive experience. I am no new comer to the world of retail and have worked with various marketers over the years, but Campbell and Storelab standout. They genuinely want you to succeed and have a huge amount of knowledge. I can highly recommend.
