Purchased a $550 item that arrived faulty, notified the seller on eBay platform that seller offered a full refund however eBay would not process the refund as over their "30 day return policy". Notified them they have breach Australian Consumer Protection Laws and response was "we are unable to process as over our 30 day return policy"..

I've reported eBay (with supportive documentation) to both the ACCC and Fair Trade Tribunal and they've now confirmed eBay has indeed breeched Australian Trade Laws therefore are now investigating the transaction and eBay's non-compliant "Customer Protection Policy",

Since been asked to provide a legal statement of the situation/circumstance so ACCC can begin a investigation. Australian consumers MUST be protected from both backyard AND law breaking corporate scams.

eBay latest policy update is to force sellers to accept all returns, regardless of whether the buyer admits they purchased the wrong item or not. Australian Consumer Law says sellers are not required to accept returns from buyers who buy the wrong item but eBay is now (7 April 2026) forcing sellers to accept returns at the sellers cost. Best option is to claim the item has been deliberately damaged by the buyer in order to get 50% of the funds back (was 100% last week). eBay is all about pleasing the fraud buyers and minimising the cost to eBay. Couldn't care less that their policy is contrary to Australian Consumer Law.

A couple of times I have written negative and neutral feedback. I have never broken any of their policies and have been polite and factual but the sellers have easily got negative and neutral removed. So feedback scores mean nothing when sellers can get it removed easily.
It’s also hard to use their chat function when no one responds.

I only gave 1 one star because 0 stars was not an option.
Sold something because eBay had "list for free" but they charged me over $500 in fees to sell a $4200 item. They are misleading. On top of that, live chat won't let me talk to someone to sort it out.

Autographed Photo purchased on 4 February as a birthday present. Paid via eBay checkout (Apple Pay eligible). Item allegedly shipped 5 Feb 2026 via "trusted" eBay International Shipping promising "1) shipping you can trust; 2) pay less for shipping; 3) delivered on time" and eBay's 30-day returns. 42 days later (19 Mar), the item remains non-delivered. Tracking stalled with DHL on 2 March. DHL refused to assist as I was not the sender. eBay seller refused DHL follow-up despite my requests, deflecting to eBay. eBay refused to assist on the grounds that tracking showed the item had been posted. INR opened 12 Mar → eBay automatically stalled my case until 20 Mar, breaching their 3-business-day seller response policy. eBay "customer service" completely unresponsive. Forced to bank chargeback as a solution despite eBay Money Back Guarantee clearly entitling full refund incl. USD 19.28 shipping for non-arrival. This highlights eBay breaching not only its own consumer promises, but also Australian Consumer Law (s18 ACL: misleading or deceptive conduct; s60-s61 ACL: service not delivered with due care or within a reasonable time; s259 ACL: right to remedy or refund). Additionally, eBay's claims around its International Shipping service are incompatible with the reality of the service creating a risk that consumers are systematically misled as to both cost and service level. As of 19/03/26 eBay has not responded or refunded.

EBay is the worst platform to ever exist, THEY ARE COMMITTING FRAUD!! I made a sale $247.99 I’m left with -$19 in my account owing fees for god knows what.

Zero seller protection & massive fees...zero support and you get smashed for trying to be a better seller.
Mediators don't read messages and are completely prejudiced.. won't recognise item descriptions.. complete negligence..

Fees are outrageous and you get scammed into paying higher fees or you get ranked on the last pages..

No customer support service..just bots running you around in circles..

Looking elsewhere to sell now..after 3 accounts and 8 years of this BS scam..

Up till now, I thought EBay was great.if you didn't receive your parcel they would refund you, which has happened to me before.
But on 20th February '26, I ordered a Poedagar Watch worth a bit. I received an email today saying it was delivered at lunch time today. I returned home about lunchtime. There was no parcel.
My anxiety hit high. I can't afford to just put that much money down as a loss.
I went on EBAY live chat, and the agent on their end seemed to genuinely want to help. He said that EBAY has a refund policy to protect their customers.
Later today, EBAY sent me an email saying that they will not be refunding me because the tracking said delivered.
Now I asked. Where is the picture proof of the delivery as to where at my home was it left. EBAY hasn't provided me with any verification of proof of delivery.
Instead they are more or less saying too bad or I'm fibbing. I have made so many purchases from EBAY, praising them but if they are going to treat me like this then I sad to say I won't be purchasing of EBAY anymoreand I hope people don't to show that it's wrong

They do not honour their money back guarantee policy. If you don't receive your product, then you don't. Their site is full of scammers and ebay itself is the biggest scammer of them all

In this case my customer recieved the item, tracking showed delivered, but because it was outside estimated delviery date they sided with the buyer and refunded 100%. What a sham! EBay’s Camera technology uploaded the tracking number incorrectly so the item can’t show delivered. Buyer confirmed receipt and left a good review. EBay confirmed can see correct tracking number is delivered but won’t release the finds and charged me a bomb! Agents waste time repeating themselves and transferring to sham departments. They can’t update their own error on their own system and won’t release the finds. SHAM! DON’T use them!

Ebay is full of chinese counterfit products and ebay simply do not care. Puchase a few items, provide photos of original brand Vs. what I recieved. Reported them - and according to ebay they were not against ebay policy (yep got that in writing) logo is trademarked, sellers even used photos stolen from the origanl brand website. Be very mindful of ALL purchases

Ordered item never arrived although seller says they delivered, I asked for evidence which was not forthcoming, then I receive an email from ebay saying after reviewing all the details they've made a decision that we will not be receiving a refund.
Won't be purchasing anything via ebay again - are they just a front for scammers!

EBay Australia actively support fraudulent transactions amd scammers. Had a fraudulent transaction made on my account which somehow got hacked and received nothing but useless advice from the moronic "customer service team" meaning a refund is all but impossible at this point. EBay used to be good, but now, I wish nothing but failure for the whole company. I'll celebrate if they ever go under.

EBay used to be good years ago and now it allows sellers to scam buyers and won’t refund for items not supplied by sellers who do not respond. I now only use Amazon and have never had any issues

Get the wrong item, clicked on return item. I made photos send it with the return page. My message was clear so I get the OK from eBay and a link for the return address. Next morning delivered it at the post office and after three hours the money was back in my PayPal account. Perfect and quick service.

eBay Australia is a scam site these days, beware. They allow fake goods to be bought / sold and make it impossible for a buyer to get a refund or to even contact them despite all the wording around guarantees etc etc - it is all for show. I received a counterfeit hockey stick from Pakistan (confirmed fake by the company that makes the real ones!) the seller refused my refund request and eBay closed the case. Now I can’t contact ebay or the seller - only an AI bot that is useless.

Item was faulty after 3 months so warehouse-directau agreed to a replacement. Returned item to them but with no word for 2 months contacted them again to say I had purchased another so now they could refund me. Now 2 months on and no word from them at all apart from one woman said she wished she could help. Another buyer that says australian but sent from China.
