Unprofessionals
Within an hour I setup an appointment, received a text saying the doctor cancelled, called to reschedule but got transferred THREE TIMES before I hung up determined to get care from actual professionals.
The doctor listens to me and we discuss…
The doctor listens to me and we discuss my treatments together and explains everything so that I understand my options and my discissions.
major failure - not worth it untrustworthy
a major failure when the company’s own tech prevents you from getting care, and then they penalize you financially for it. Completely absurd and unprofessional. I was unable to connect to my virtual visit because the company itself was having technical issues. So they charged me $100 no-show fee and then are trying to make me wait. Almost a month now to reschedule. It’s bullshit.
Utterly terrible experience
Utterly terrible experience. Stay away. My first appointment was cancelled one minute before starting. I waited for two weeks for the next available appointment. I had an hour discussion with the psychiatrist who discussed a treatment plan and even scheduled the next appointment two weeks later. The next day, I received a letter from Talkiatry via email saying they were terminating their relationship with me - with a standard letter. Why would the psychiatrist talk treatment plan and schedule another appointment if he knew this was the case? Thank goodness I have a therapist elsewhere. I cannot imagine how bad that would feel for someone in crisis. Talkiatry should not be allowed to practice.
I would give a 0 if an option
I would give a 0 if an option. 10 emails sent on how to get ready for the first appointment plus a 48 hour cancelation penalty. Meanwhile, you go through all the prep and the provider, Steve paschos is a no show! Do not go through this hassle.
Predatory and immoral - AVOID
Predatory and immoral. $658 total for a session for which I received no therapy or guidance. Was led to believe a copay of $30 would be due, but now owe over $400 out of pocket. Absolutely disgusting that they take advantage of patients like this. I left a negative review two days ago, and now when I google the company it says "permanently closed" and now listed under "Michael Underriner" at the same location with a 5-star rating. Hiding bad reviews. AVOID!
unfair and excessive billing proactices
I needed a prescription refill for my adhd medication that I have taken for years. I was given the initial docs to complete and sign, there was no fee disclosure. They only wanted to know if I had insurance. There is a loophole that they don't have to disclose their prices if they bill insurance. They billed 710.00 for a 1 hr visit, using multiple billing codes despite me only going for one thing. The doctor asked about other things and then billed for the other conversation that she initiated. Then she said that she would require monthly visits for refills despite the law requiring a visit every 3 mos. So they charged an excessive amount for the visit and then require more frequent visits. There was no medication change to be monitored. For reference, they charged 710.00 for a 1 hr teleheath visit.
I got canceled on day of by my doctor…
I got canceled on day of by my doctor but kept getting emails about the appointment sent to me which was confusing and made me worried i'd be charged the fee if i missed it. He had availability for the next day which is good but then I was scheduled on pt not est which did not work for my schedule. I never got confirmation messages for that appointment which could have cleared up the confusion and then I wasted time trying to join at the time i thought it was and calling customer service yet again to figure it out. still havent even been seen yet. edit - doctor canceled yet again so now i have to wait over a week to even meet and spent more time on the phone. the scheduler was nice but kept getting confused about time zones and giving me incorrect times until i clarified multiple times. thankfully i knew to question it this time
TALKIATRY KEEPS TRACK
TALKIATRY KEEPS TRACK OF MY APPOINTMENTS AND NOTIFYS ME WHEN THE NEXT ONE IS DUE.
MY PSYCHIATRIST AND I ARE WORKING WELL.
Using Talkiatry? Don't get comfortable!
I began using Talkiatry several years ago to treat bipolar disorder. My first doctor there unexpectedly retired, which threw me for a loop, but I was able to find another one at the same practice right away. The appointments are all online, which is not comfortable but is convenient.
After years of being treated successfully, I got an email from my doctor telling me that Talkiatry does not allow their doctors to treat anyone who is also taking methadone for "any reason" so they have to drop me after my next appointment. This has supposedly been their policy the entire time I've been treating with them. What's wrong with methadone anyway?
This news is devastating, especially for someone who has a mental health condition where consistency, continuity of service, reliability, trust, safety and security are all HUGE issues.
Changes pretty much paralyze people like me and throw us into a tailspin for unknown periods of time, and unjustifiable changes are even worse.
I take the methadone for degenrative arthritis and disc disease and have already been having a difficult time keeping my job because the pain is getting worse with time. Now I have to reduce my pain medication and risk my job or not have a psychiatrist in time and risk my job. We won't talk about the cost of starting as a new patient somewhere, right after Talkiatry charged me my entire annual medical deductible at my first visit of the year!
Mind you, this is after YEARS of being treated on the lowest dose of methadone possible while seeing this psychiatrist. Years.
I have had no issues, no changes to that medication, and no other problems in either practice.
One would think, when dealing with a person's mental health, the focus would be on NOT upsetting a relatively stable life that has taken decades to establish, catering to the individual needs of the PATIENT so that they can function as well as possible, instead of causing trauma and chaos for them through no fault of their own.
The fact that they have BEEN treating me for years ought to matter. The fact that I am on the lowest dose possible ought to matter. The fact that it is prescribed by a specialist for the most legitimate reason it is made (pain) ought to matter. And the fact that it is nearly impossible to find actual psychiatrists any longer ought to matter.
Evidently, the only thing that matters to Talkiatry is some random policy that makes NO sense whatsoever and which they have had as a policy since I began treatment years ago.
Now I have my next visit and that's it. Boom. Not "We will treat you until you find another doctor," or "We will help you find another doctor," just "Bye! So sorry!"
AVOID AT ALL COSTS.
Absolutely abysmal prices. I had two meetings, both 45 mins long and I got hit with a $713 bill after. I have Aetna insurance, one of the insurances they take and I was going to get accessed for ADHD and other mental health diagnoses. I was thinking that the co-pay would be around $30 like the website said, but instead with insurance applied, I got a $713 bill. Without insurance helping at all it would have been $1,260. How is an hour and thirty minutes worth that much money? Beats me.
DO NOT GO to Talkiatry for help. They did get me a prescription fast, but it was definitely not worth the convenience. Go to a in person doctor and save your time and money.
If I could give Talkietry ZERO stars I would.
If I could give Talkietry ZERO stars, I would. I received an email saying that my insurance would cover the cost of my visit. I pay a $30 co-pay, typically. I received a bill that was OVER $300.00 for an INTAKE appointment. I provided my information during this phone call and was told I would be matched with a therapist. How was this OVER $300.00?! Ridiculous. SCAM ALERT!! Do not trust Talkietry. It is a scam. Seek care elsewhere. I repeat: SEEK CARE ELSEWHERE.
Talkietry is now threatening to send me to collections because I haven’t paid this outrageous bill.
I feel taken advantage of and scammed. I am absolutely disgusted with this company that promises to “help people.”
This Is How All Mental Health Programs Should Be Run
The entire Talkiatry team and patient porthole is always prompt and very helpful. Dr. Andrew Wilbur is a wonderful doctor, very thorough and insightful. I’ve always felt I was in good hands from day one. I highly recommend Talkiatry!!
Dr. Shiao and Talkiatry
Dr. Shiao is extremely intelligent without talking down to you. She is highly knowledgeable in her field while at the same time she is very caing about my feelings and needs. I trust Dr. Shiao completely with my care.

Im doing great because of the rapore I have with my doctor. He's very understanding.
Have to sign up for automatic future payments
Can't make a one time payment. Have to save my card and sign up to pay all future bills with it automatically. This should be enough to tell you what kind of company this is.
This site is a scam
This site is a scam. I was approved without them checking my specific insurance plan and when I messaged them I recieved automated responses. So I called and attempted to cancel. But they threatened me with a $100 fee. Finally after getting cut off and calling back multiple times they canceled. I then get a message that it's been rescheduled with a different therapist with out my permission or approved. I had to call back and re-cancel an unauthorized appointment I didn't even make. They are happy to take your money but have zero care for mental health or your wallet.
THEY cancelled my first appointment and…
THEY cancelled my first appointment and tried to bill me $100. I had to reschedule and take another day off work. When I went to the virtual waiting room nobody ever came. A half hour later I called talkiatry and their voice message said "all agents are on break. A waist of time.
Provider cancelled TWICE
Provider cancelled TWICE - I was in need of a medication refill because I have moved to the area and do not have a primary care provider (the soonest I can get an appointment here in Vermont is 4 months out from now) so I signed up for talkiatry.
After choosing the soonest available appointment two weeks out, I received an automated text message stating that the provider had cancelled the appointment and offered to reschedule, the soonest appointment being two weeks out from there. At the new appointment, I waited for 25 minutes in the waiting room at the appropriate time and then received a phone call from a care coordinator saying that the provider was having internet connection issues and would need to reschedule it again. Next available appointment.. two weeks out again.
