Deceptive marketing
They count on buyers not reading the fine print. For example they advertised a sale in large font “$109 starter pack” however when you check out in small font you are actually agreeing to be charged another $59 before it is shipped AND signing on to a subscription ( to cancel this subscription you have to pay money). All of this is easy to miss if not paying attention, because the main print you see is that you are paying $109 today through the check out. This company should be held accountable, I have never experienced a company to be so deceptive before. They essentially advertise as though the starter pack includes the large candle insert, with their fancy images, but actually you have to separately pay for the candle insert before it is shipped.
They also claim to offer 30day change of mind returns but what they don’t make clear is YOU pay the shipping cost for a large heavy parcel - it costs a lot!
This company has also decided to save money on bubble wrap / sufficient packaging rather than prioritising the customer receiving an unbroken product. There are a lot of people complaining online that they received a broken product and got no refund, they make the return policy so difficult that people give up.
This is deceptive marketing and terrible customer service coated in luxury branding. The experience has honestly been so strange. I will be reporting this company to the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission.
For those interested in reading the extended version of my return experience so far:
I asked for my 30day return, multiple messages, no response at all. Eventually they sent me a return email, in this email
they still do not state that I am responsible for return postage fees, they don’t directly tell you this. I’m assuming this information is in fine print somewhere in terms and conditions or in return policy however to not clearly state this to the customer when overtly advertising 30day return on your website is deceptive.
They provide you with no parcel label to stick on your parcel, understanding the return address was not straight forward or clear. They attach a form to put inside your parcel (with the return address in one of the paragraphs). You have to fill out this form manually, information like your order number. (zero effort on their behalf).
The worst part is you have to sign this form stating that you are responsible for if it breaks on the return journey - and advise you to use bubble wrap. However the parcel they send you has NO BUBBLE WRAP. The parcel I received had a bit of paper as protection, and lots of space for the products to jump around in the box. So I will be returning the parcel exactly as it arrived, yet I will not receive a refund if it breaks in transit? That makes no sense.
At this point I am starting to wonder that if I spend money on returning this box, can I even trust this company to give me a refund?
