Don’t think I will be using The Mobile…
Don’t think I will be using The Mobile Shop Again.
Myself and my extended family have used the Mobile shop for at least 10 cellphone contracts that were successful BUT this time was abysmal. My brother, my wife and I signed up for 3 new contracts this past Black Friday. This google review represents one of those contracts. We were VERY clear we wanted to own our phones out right with no payout or fees at the end of the contract, AND, we were absolutely assured this was the case, REPEATEDLY!. The agent (who was in fact the store manager) even pointed at the sales receipt, (the only paper document we received that day), and said and showed “see, fully financed”. All was good until we got our first bill and it showed a Save and Return fee of $279. (That’s $837 for all 3 phones…not chump change.) So checking back on Page 5 in the fine print of our Contract emailed to us, sure enough it even said so. Unfortunately, what we signed was not representative of what the agreement was. The provider would not change this, they said go back to the Mobile Shop. This was NOT at all pointed out to us when signing in the “Critical Information Summary” where we first initialed. Not only was this “slipped” in, the agent in fact assured us of the OPPOSITE! We kept clarifying this with the agent numerous times and he said you own the phone outright. We have been at this 6 months now, strung along by the agent at The Mobile Shop with misrepresentation after misrepresentation. At first he said “No, no it’s the provider’s fault” and he would “fix it.” Then it was “this fee will go away after a couple months.” Then, “But you will get “points” at the end when you renew that will cover this fee.” He never once disputed that we both knew we had all signed up for a fully financed phone plan. Then when contacting the regional manager this past week even HE refused to remove this misrepresented fee, and stood by his employee. UPDATE: After leaving a review themobileshop.ca offered a "one-time goodwill accommodation. As a gesture of goodwill" of $100 in points...and denied ANY misrepresentation. Sorry your guy TOTALLY misrepresented the facts to our faces here! It is still not resolved, and now the manager from that store has “moved on”, go figure? I don’t think I will ever do business with the Mobile Shop again and in my opinion, NOR SHOULD YOU. It doesn’t matter the amount of free points you might get, this is simply not worth the headache! If you cannot trust the words that come out of the person supposed to be representing your provider, or trust the management to correct a fault, then I can’t understand how a contract can be enforceable when it is so misrepresented. I am in the process of gathering what I need to file a complaint with the CCTS, which unfortunately goes straight to the provider, not The Mobile Shop who bungled this up.
