Life is like a box of chocolates
One of the best things about opening the delivery from The Retro Store is not knowing what’s inside. I’ve been introduced to new music and artists and reintroduced to some I had forgotten. Very “forest hump” in that “…you never know what you’re gonna get…” It’s like having a mini birthday every month

Lovely idea and perfect as a gift
I got the Retro subscription as a gift for my sister and it has been a great success. There is joy in the surprise of discovering new artists and increasing your list of favorites. The process is generally smooth although there is some complexity if bought as a gift as I still get some comms instead of my sister.

Delivery arrived right on time as usual! Package secured well with goodies as always. This time I got records I'd never heard of that were brand new and loved every minute of them. Even got a bonus record compilation record from the 80s this time! Looking forward to my many Retro Store boxes in the future. Cheers!

I'm done with them
I'm done with them. You will not see the music they have advertised on their site or other sites trying to suck you in. You are better served going to a thrift store and sorting through that mess. I specifically asked for NO COUNTRY, second box in a row, country artists. I requested ROCK I got a Dub Step EP, a 7". The albums are in good condition, big deal, they will never hit one of my turntables. Good Luck

Incomplete Subscription and Poor Customer Service
I really wanted to love this service, it’s a great idea and the people behind it seem genuine. However, I think they have overpromised and now cannot deliver what people have paid for. I gifted a three month subscription for Christmas, which started in January: first two boxes arrived in early Jan and early Feb. Still waiting for March’s. Didn’t receive any response to two chaser emails, received a brief holding response on Twitter. Still haven’t received anything. Feels like the only way I’ll see my money or the product is by making a small claim, but seems like these guys are having a difficult time as it is so will just take it as a lesson learned.
Edit - following a reply to my review and an initial reply from the ‘team’ almost a month ago, I am still in the dark about what happened to the last 1/3 of the subscription. No contact, no box of comics, no refund.

Lack of good communication
Last 2 packages came with albums totally different from the genres I had selected. Arranged to return for a refund but difficult to have meaningful communication as only via online chats and the lack of responses in a timely fashion makes this difficult. I am still chasing my refund my experience means I'm unlikely to continue or recommend.

Upon receiving my review (please see the full review below) The Retro replied, and to cut a long story short, stated that they'd like to communicate with me directly to address my issues. That was over a day ago without so much as a "we've got your email" So my review as published yesterday stands and is reinforced. Sort your customer service out guys. If you truly can't afford to provide this service, then just don't try to offer it.
One star because you don't get the option for less. The box itself, where do I start. The value of the items are pitiful, you could get the same items from CeX for a couple of pounds. The games they include are nothing more than shovelware, They do include a 10p Chew Bar, which was the most worthwhile item in the box. Whoever "Selects" the games either doesn't care about your genre preferences or has no idea what a genre is. Check the YouTube Channel, Generation Pixel, for the opening of two of these boxes and one "they suspended my account for no reason" videos if you want a true showcase of this service. Their customer service is also not the greatest in terms of communication, which makes me wonder why they use Trustpilot. Just stay away from this service, Ebay is even a cheaper option.

Not getting what you pay for
I purchased a 6 month subscription for my partner, and to be completely honest it has been problematic from day one. We should have received 4 boxes up to today, but only 2 have arrived, and they were both so late we have had to chase. Of these 2 boxes received, one item was incompatible and although we were promised a replacement in the next box, this is not very helpful when those boxes don't arrive. We have both tried to call the number listed which is either not answered or says that it's unavailable. Emails/messages were having a very slow turnaround but are now simply being ignored. The concept is brilliant and he was really looking forward to receiving his boxes but the shine has been taken off it, and sadly it seems we're not getting what I paid a fairly decent amount for.
excellent new records
In this month's subscription box I have received three new records which I have never heard of before, so it's been really exciting to sit down and listen o them for the first time. The box arrived on time.
