Real results and solid support: My honest take on The Trading Analyst

I started the new year by signing up for a trade alert service for the first time ever, and after some research I ended up paying for a monthly membership with The Trading Analyst in early January. As someone new to trade alerts, I was on the lookout for a service that wasn't just effective but also user-friendly and reliable. The Trading Analyst ticked all these boxes.

What I immediately liked was their alert system setup via Telegram. It's swift and accurate, ensuring I never miss out on any opportunities. They also offer SMS and email options, catering to different preferences, which I found thoughtful but I asked them to turn them both off (they were kind of distracting for me) and they did.

Their daily premarket briefs quickly became a morning ritual for me, laying out potential setups and market insights over my coffee. The weekly Trading Report updates were the cherry on top, keeping me in the loop with all the essential market movements and trends.

Now, I won't lie - I approached their trade recommendations with a healthy dose of skepticism initially. But the results spoke for themselves. Their diverse strategies (3 in total) catered well to the current market environment and I found myself almost $5k up before my first month was even up, which was not bad at all.

Encouraged by these results, I decided to upgrade to an Annual membership barely three weeks in. And the cool thing is they only charged me the difference, not the full annual fee for a subscription that would start after my monthly subscription is up.

Their customer support has been commendable, with quick email responses whenever I had questions. The one thing I find myself wishing for are more community-oriented features, like chat rooms or discussion groups, to connect with fellow traders and share experiences.

Some could argue that the service isn’t cheap ($147 for a month or $787 for one year) but I would say it’s well worth it if they can keep producing similar results throughout 2024.

I'm genuinely excited about their alerts and looking forward to trading in 2024 with The Trading Analyst.

My experience so far? A solid 5/5 stars!

Know What To Expect Before You Join

I signed up for TTA's Options trade advisory service on July 17 - a 1-year membership that cost $787 USD. According to their web site, they claimed to issue "2-5 trade alerts per week". This is the first thing I found not to be true/factual. On August 17 I requested a refund as by that time they had only issued ONE trade alert. I was assured by their "Customer Success Manager", Susi, that if I was just patient my membership would pay off. Fine - I gave them the benefit of the doubt. However, from that point until September 28, no further trades were placed. Then, they placed 3 trades in quick succession. These were also all straight buys of Calls or Puts (what are known as Naked Options, which are undefined-risk trades). When I signed up, I was not aware that their system was focused solely on this trade strategy.

When I first brought my concerns to Susi on August 17 (after getting her assurances) I agreed to give it more time. It was only after they started once again placing trades on Sept 28 that I realized the service was based solely on placing Naked Options trades. I have no desire to trade Naked Options as they are undefined risk trades - TOO risky and dangerous. I don't feel that I've been unreasonable and that I was more than patient and gave their service a fair try. That said, I still feel like I've been misled both about their claims of "2-5 trade alerts per week" (which is stated right on their web site) but also that they weren't upfront about the types of trades their system entailed.

On Oct 2, I stated my argument and respectfully requested a refund. However, since then I have not received any response whatsoever. So, it seems like no refund will be forthcoming and the service is a sham.

Update (Oct 16):

TTA did eventually respond and through a compromise agreed to refund a majority of my membership fee. I did however urge them to create an FAQ to provide clarity/transparency in regards to the number of trade alerts members can realistically expect to receive on a weekly basis. In addition, I recommended that TTA make clear the fact that their system is based solely on placing Naked Trades. Would-be members can then make a truly informed decision.

Antwoord van The Trading Analyst

Hello Mike,

Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback with us on Trustpilot. We genuinely value every piece of feedback and always strive to ensure clarity and customer satisfaction.

Let us address some of the concerns you've raised:

Refund Process: We genuinely regret any misunderstandings surrounding the refund process. To clarify, we had agreed to and initiated the refund process before becoming aware of this review. Our intention was to address your concerns and ensure you felt valued, irrespective of the review. As you have now clarified, we did indeed refund a large majority of your membership fee due to your dissatisfaction.

Trading Strategy: We understand the concerns you've raised regarding 'Naked Trades'. First and foremost, we want to make it clear: The Trading Analyst does not engage in 'Naked Trades'. A naked option, also known as an "uncovered" option, is created when the seller of an option contract does not own the underlying security needed to meet the potential obligation that results from selling—also known as "writing" or "shorting"—an option. We do not write or sell options, we only buy calls and puts. In simple terms, we only buy to open options, calls or puts.

Our foundational trading system is a longer-term swing trading system. Recognizing the dynamic nature of the 2023 market which was less than ideal, we expanded our offerings to include alerts from an intraday trading system as well as a momentum trading system. These were added to complement, not replace, our core system. While alerts from our core system did indeed lower, we implemented additional systems, tailored to the respective environment in order to provide valuable alerts. Always, our goal is to optimize trading based on the market's current conditions while upholding our standards of risk management and trading integrity.

FAQ and Clarity on Trade Alerts: We appreciate your feedback on transparency. For clarity, we do have an FAQ section on our website (found at the bottom of our homepage) which addresses the frequency of trade alerts, emphasizing our approach of quality over quantity. Our FAQ there includes, “There are some days when we do not send any swing or momentum alerts. In fact, we’ve had some weeks where we haven’t sent any alerts”.

The bottom of our pricing table (also on the homepage) states the following:

“The number of alerts is fully dependent upon the market conditions and the number of high quality opportunities that present themselves. This estimate is based on our 5-year average alert frequency and it excludes alerts from our intraday system.”

However, due to our new momentum trading system we are now back on track with 2-5 trades per week.

We always strive to ensure our members are equipped with accurate information, and we regret any oversight in conveying this to you. We will review how we can make this information clearer to all prospective members.

Communication and Concerns Addressed: We apologize for any feelings of being overlooked or not heard. Our records indicate extensive email correspondence with you, (over 60 emails in total) with a genuine effort on our behalf to address all your concerns. Our priority is, and always will be, to maintain open channels of communication with our members.

We understand that our service may not be a perfect fit for everyone, and that's okay. We are continuously working to enhance our offerings and better serve our customers. We are genuinely sorry that your experience with The Trading Analyst didn't meet your expectations, and we truly appreciate your feedback as it helps us grow and serve our members better.

If you have any further concerns or feedback, please don’t hesitate to reach out directly. We're here to help and strive to ensure that every member has a positive experience.

Warm regards,
The Trading Analyst Team
