We booked our 21day Sri Lankan tour directly with Kingfisher following positive reviews on the web. There was some trepidation about not using a UK agency but we needn’t have worried. We let them know what we wanted included (history, wildlife, crafts and beach as well as some downtime) and they produced an excellent tour programme including our original request. They also adapted the tour to include some late thoughts from us. Communication was good throughout, including giving us the name and number for our driver.
When we arrived in Colombo, bleary eyed at 6 in the morning, Ishan, our driver / guide was waiting for us. After changing some cash for rupees and picking up a couple of eSims we were off to Ngombo, our first one night stop. In all we stayed in ten different hotels and covered much of Sri Lanka visiting a huge variety of areas. This meant a lot of time spent with Ishan both in the car and visiting the different historic, cultural, and nature sites. Ishan was very easy to get along with and always made sure that all arrangements were correct and didn’t leave us after arriving at each hotel until sure there were no problems. There was a lot of flexibility and we were able to make ad hoc stops where we wanted. He always engaged in conversation and was able to explain much about Sri Lankan society and religions over time which helped our understanding of the country. We exchanged stories about home life and families in our two countries. We were completely at ease with him and felt he was not only a guide but also a friend.
We would have no hesitation in recommending Kingfisher Tours Sri Lanka to organise a holiday in Sri Lanka and would say that you would be lucky if you had Ishan as your driver / guide
