My Experience with TSUN Support & the DCU2000Lite Storage Unit
Having had a really positive experience with TSUN (Product & Support), I thought I'd share it here and give a quick overview of the setup I'm using. Hope this helps anyone looking into it!
If you're looking to take your plug-in solar setup to the next level, you know the challenge: you need a battery storage solution that’s durable, totally safe, and smartly controlled—all at an unbeatable price-to-performance ratio, of course. That’s exactly what I was after, which is why I went with the TSUN SolarCan DCU2000Lite.
After putting it through its paces for a few weeks, here’s my detailed review!
// Unboxing & Included Accessories: Everything to Get You Started
Right out of the box, the DCU2000Lite makes a very high-quality and premium impression. The system is built for true plug-and-play, making integration super straightforward.
Here’s what comes in the box:
- TSUN SolarCan DCU2000Lite Storage Unit (of course :) )
- Multi-language user manuals
- Output cable to the microinverter
- 2 pairs of MC4 extension cables (3 meters each)
- MC4 wrench tool (very practical)
- RS485 connector
// My Setup
I’m running the battery alongside four solar panels (1x South, 3x West facing). In my setup, the DCU2000Lite sits in the garden shed. Thanks to its robust IP65 rating and built-in self-heating, it’s well-equipped for extreme outdoor conditions—according to the official specs, it's supposedly built to handle freezing temps down to -20 °C without a hitch.
// Performance Specs in Practice
PV Input Power:
Up to 2,400 Watts max input power.
// Efficiency:
The MPPT efficiency hits an impressive 99.9%—so it really squeezes every last drop out of the panels.
// Compatibility:
In my setup, the battery feeds power through an EcoFlow Stream microinverter. TSUN states that the DCU is compatible with almost every standard microinverter on the market.
// Direct Charging:
On sunny afternoons, the direct DC charging tops up the battery super efficiently. My self-consumption went up noticeably because I’m using solar power right when I need it—during evenings and nights.
It is also intelligently controlled by AI during daytime, so the spread between charging and discharging/passthrough works great in combination with a Shelly smart meter.
// Smart Metering & Zero Export
Intelligent control is key when it comes to battery storage. The DCU officially supports the Shelly Pro 3EM smart meter.
I initially tested the system with an older Shelly 3EM Gen 1 emulated as a Pro 3EM via Home Assistant. The results were already seriously impressive: spot-on power regulation and practically zero export! Virtually no electricity gets wasted back into the grid anymore. I’ve since upgraded to the actual Shelly Pro 3EM—with that, power management feels just a bit smoother and more responsive.
// App Note
Ever since TSUN Support pushed the latest datalogger update to the unit, the TSUN app has been running completely flawlessly. Initial setup requires a bit of patience and a bit of a learning curve, but if you skim through the instructions, you'll have it running stably in no time.
The only downside: Right now, there’s no native Home Assistant integration for the DCU2000Lite. I brought this up directly with TSUN support and suggested they get on it.
// Safety, Lifespan & Support
TSUN didn't cut any corners on the internal hardware, either:
Safety via ACC:
TSUN relies on Active Cell Control, which guarantees continuous real-time cell balancing.
Cell Chemistry:
It uses durable LiFePO4 (Lithium Iron Phosphate) industry-grade cells rated for over 10,000 charge cycles.
Modularity:
Capacity starts at 2 kWh and can be expanded up to 10 kWh depending on your energy needs.
Customer Support:
Huge shoutout to TSUN support. When I reached out with a question about a firmware update, they helped me out super fast, knowledgeably, and hassle-free.
// The Verdict
The TSUN DCU2000Lite turns a simple plug-in solar system into a smart, ultra-efficient home power plant. For me, it’s currently one of the most well-rounded and well-thought-out storage solutions on the market. Absolutely a no-brainer in this price range.
The value for money is especially hard to beat: on sale, you can grab this unit for around €300. For that, you get cutting-edge cell technology, top-tier control features, and fantastic build quality. I definitely wouldn't want to run my setup without the DCU2000Lite anymore—highly recommended!
