Assaulted by the receptionist’s husband
I went to Victoria Clinic as I needed fillings and have a very strong fear of needles, and one of the dentists working out of there specialises in sedation dentistry. It was very expensive, many times more than the NHS or private with my regular dentist, into the 4 figures for some fillings, but without this, I wouldn’t have been able to go through with the fillings. I’m also diagnosed with significant anxiety disorder so even thinking about the procedure was terrifying.
The dentist was very good, she was very good at putting my anxiety to ease and made the procedure quick and painless, and I remember very little of it.
However that’s about where anything good ends, the clinic is dangerous. The receptionist forgot to stamp my prescription for the pre-medication, and after a lot of complaining, she agreed to come to my workplace to stamp it so I could get it filled before my appointment. The thought of not getting the prescription in time (and many pharmacy not stocking the medication), was sending my anxiety sky high.
The receptionist came to my workplace (much later than we agreed and I was sat waiting for them instead of going home). She bought along her husband with her, who proceeded to verbally assault and threaten me, tried to physically assault me, and told me he would be waiting outside the clinic for me and gave the date of my appointment.
The receptionist’s husband is not an employee of the company, so my work address and details of my dental appointment had been given to a third party, presumably with the intent of assaulting me.
Neither the manager nor the owner cared one bit, they refused to meet with me, after a lot of effort they proposed one meeting with essentially no notice (I think it was a few hours notice), that I couldn’t make. And that was it, they refused to meet any other time and refused to discuss the issue.
I submitted a SAR and received a late and incomplete response.
I could not in good conscience recommend this place to anyone, they don’t just have no regard for their patients well being or private medical data, they actively sent someone out to try and cause my physical and emotional harm.
This was reported to the police and the ICO.
In summary
- My private medial data and work address, and who knows what other data was given to a third party
- this data was used to verbally assault and threaten me, as well as attempt to physically assault me
- the management and owner seem to have no issue with this and had no interest in doing anything about it.
- They refused to provide me with my data, despite being legally compelled to, presumably so I couldn’t see the extent of the data sharing and either the lack of interest or possibly even the management and ownership arranging for this assault and data breach.
