I have followed Julia for many years and finally decided to make time for myself to improve and enjoy playing the violin. The Academy is designed for all levels of fear and expertise. The cost is reasonable and the support could not be better. I enjoy being able to do this from my home at my own pace, but Julia also kindly encourages every week so I do not set down my violin for long. Renae B.

All staff members of the Academy are extremely helpful and friendly. As opposed to private lessons, the only accountability is to yourself. If you don't feel like practicing for a couple days, no one will scold you.
There are plentiful opportunities to engage with other students at your level if you want to. And many of those students are in other countries, which makes it even more interesting.
As a retired engineer, I can attest to the fact that the website is laid out well and easy to navigate. In addition, an orientation class is offered to new members in which a staff member walks everyone through the many features.
If you are a self-motivated learner, this is the place for you.

I am enjoying the course: Practice Smarter. It is a very good course for me — I played the violin in my youth, but have only now started again after decades of inactivity. I live in a small village in the Faroe Islands where there are no violin lessons available. That is why your online violin course is perfect for me. I don’t have to spend time driving to and from a music school, which means I have more time for violin playing.

The violin course; "Practice Smarter" contributes to an organized practice routine, increases motivation, and strengthens motor skills related to violin playing. It is an excellent course. I have just finished the Unlock your Vibrato course and have learnt so much. I had some of the misconceptions that were mentioned at the beginning and it was helpful to see all the different types of vibrato and that that there is not just one strict way of doing it and that we can adapt the vibrato to suit our own playing style. I really started to enjoy vibrato for the first time with the “Walk around the block song”.
Trying vibrato with different rhythms and speeds also helped me a lot. For me the piano accompaniments were crucial as it’s nice to play along with another instrument and it helps me to get the rhythm and relax more. I’m pleased that I did this course, feel that I have made some progress and that I’m not scared or fed up of trying vibrato anymore. Dare I say it, I now have fun when practicing vibrato or at least in these songs anyway!

Wow, it was a great course. Very well structured and the pacing was spot on.

I procrastinated about signing up for Julia's vibrato course because most of the type of music I play doesn't use it, but decided to dive in and start learning to add to my abilities. Unlike many online vibrato 'how to' tips, her course starts simply and logically and builds skills gradually. I have completed the 6 week course as far as accessing all the lessons but there is now the months (probably) of practice to actually develop a usable vibrato. Do not expect that you will have one after 6 weeks, unless superhuman. Realize that the course gives you all the techniques to practice but you must still put in the required practice time. All in all this course will give you the tools to succeed, it is up to you to use them....

I have joined the course as a beginner. Julia have provided step by step with some important guidance or exercises for learning vibrato. Honestly, I thought it might have to take a long while to learn how to playing with vibrato. However, just within 6 modules, I could really relax my fingers and achieved in playing simple vibrato. Now, my vibrato sounds much more better although I know I still have lots of rooms to be improved. I would highly recommend this course to anyone who was interested in playing vibrato.

Unlock Your Vibrato is a fantastic program. Julia has created a course that is easy to follow and perfectly paced. I really appreciated the logical structure – it never felt overwhelming, and I felt guided every step of the way. Not only did it help me finally start using vibrato correctly, but the additional resources provided are excellent for long-term practice. If you are hesitant about joining an online program, don't be – this one truly delivers results!

My time with Julia's academy was really inspiring, so good to chat and meet up online with other lovely and encouraging students as well as the knowledgeable and helpful teachers. I will be returning when I have some spare time again.

I am a complete beginner with learning to play the violin and having found Julia’s on-line course with its beautifully clear and easy to follow instructions and YouTube demonstrations, it is helping enormously. It also provides structured practice sessions which can fit perfectly into every day life - I am delighted with it!

My experience with Julia is very positive. She is a wealth of information and knowledge. Always a teacher I turn to in times of difficulties and uncertainty. Playing the violin as an adult has its ups and downs with plenty of frustration. As she has on her wall. Practice practice practice, but the key to practice has to be structured. By joining Julia you are in safe hands.

Teacher Julia is enthusiastic and inviting. Without pressure, she teaches you how to play the violin step by step. And you can watch her explanations again and again in the videos.

This is very practical ecspecialy for me being older. The course is on a very comfy level , not to complicated . Videos are of good quality and I love the way that different camera angles are used to indicate propper posture of hands etc. This is mobey well spend. I could not play even a note on the violin but now as I enter module 5 I am already able to play a few easy songs. Thank you and well done Julia
