Horrible it’s been over 30 days and I still haven’t received my expedited documents. Do NOT USE THIS COMPANY.

Total scam. I never completed an order with them and they're still trying to charge me fees. The order was in my shopping cart but I never submitted it, so the card shouldn't have been saved or processed. I never received any product or service from them.

I just filled out a form to get two certified birth certificates from North Carolina, via VitalChek.

They automatically charged me $20 for express shipping! I never clicked a box for express shipping. I wanted regular, free USPS shipping!!

I want my $20 back immediately!

What a rip-off. I've read a lot of bad reviews about VitalChek, and now I've had my own miserable experience.

Add to this rip-off is the fact that it will take nearly TWO MONTHS to recieve the birth certificates. I can't believe this is happening in 2026.

The fees listed do not correspond with the actual filing fees for a San Francisco Birth certificate they are greater, in addition to their service fees. The website does not accept obvious formats like PDF's. The instructions are rudimentary and incomplete. once I was in the "vitalchek system" I was advised that an additional notarized document was required; but no form was readily available or provided. So I resorted to downloading the government form required by SF. After all of that, a week later I get an email saying additional docs required. ng 23minutes When I called I had to wait 23 minutes on hold only to speak to a lady who seemed irritated that I had bothered her. she advised me in her own fashion that the required proprietary vitalchek form had to be used and that the official form was not correct. When I asked where this was she said at the bottom of an email. I have now submitted their notarized form and hope I can get my certificate.

Complete scam. Do not use them. They lie and will never refund you

I ordered a birth certificate. It arrived in 3 days. Two days later, another copy of the birth certificate arrived, and my card was charged again. When I complained, I was told I ordered twice and I should have received two receipts. I explained that I had not ordered twice and I did not receive two receipts. They have ignored me ever since.

You will not be able to get ahold of customer service nor will you be able to cancel an order.

Skip the middleman. The state of NY vital records website links you directly to this third-party service. It's a legitimate business, contracted by the state to collect and process applications for marriage licenses, birth certificates, etc. The information on the website led me to believe this was the only option I had to obtain my birth certificate. After my submission and payment, I checked the status online once a week for 5 weeks and saw it was PROCESSING. I began to panic when I saw the anticipated delivery date of August 18th ( I submitted my request on January 20!) That's when I called the town clerk's office in the city where I was born. I submitted an application and was charged $10 for my official birth certificate and received it within a week -no extra charge for mailing it! Check with your town clerk FIRST! Don't waste your money and time!

I ordered an unofficial death certificate from Santa Clara California. It isn’t supposed to require any additional paperwork. Vitalchek asked for a bunch anyway. When I called to cancel the transaction minutes later, I was told to call Santa Clara directly for a refund.

When I asked for them to refund me their fee since they provided me with zilch, I was denied twice. Customer service mentioned sarcastically it’s in the fine print when you place the order.

In short, this company sucks.

After asking for copies of every piece of paper in my possession (except for the toilet paper) and refusing to provide me with the certificate requested I still am without what I needed

This company is a scam. I imagine they pay someone off for a government contract so people have to order their vital records through them. Whether you will actually get what you pay for appears to be pure luck. One thing is certain though, if you don't get what you pay for they will still keep your money.

Long Long Long Long wait! I wrote wrong address

I wish I read these reviews before ordering from Vital chek. I originally ordered my husbands death certificate and experienced poor customer service. Every representative tells you something different. I finally received it but I needed additional 4 certified copies. After 5 months I received 4 copies of documents with the raised seal stating “No Record”.
They made the mistake with the date of death and I have to pay for apply again. Waste of time and money.

I paid this third party to obtain a document on my behalf and was informed that delivery would take approximately 140–150 business days. After making five follow-up phone calls and waiting 177 days, I was again told to continue waiting. Prior to this, I had been informed that voicemail messages had been left for me; however, no such messages were received. During my most recent call, I raised the issue of reimbursement and was informed that I would be contacted by the end of the week. Due to the continued delay, inconsistent communication, and lack of resolution, I gathered all relevant documentation and immediately contacted my bank and filed a complaint with the Better Business Bureau.

I would not recommend this service to anyone, avoid at all cost, unless you don’t need your documents any time soon. I have been waiting for a death certificate since September, first the website check status was pending and now it has been processing for a while, how long does it take to process one piece of paper, I regret using this service, I thought I could save myself a trip to the vital records office but that is not the case. I wasted time and money with this service. I still have to make a trip to the vital records office in which I should have done in the first place. I think that any company that can not fill an order within a month should not be in business.

As a taxpayer, there is no reason whatsoever that I should have to pay for vital records relating to me or my family considering that I already pay outrageous amounts of taxes. FURTHER, the fact that our government is too useless to be able to process records themselves and instead, outsource to a third party business that takes forever to fulfill records and charges outrageous fees is utterly reprehensible.

I requested for a birth certificate for our son. It listed one document to prove my relationship with him. I gave them a copy of my passport data page. I paid 68$ for the service plus the 6$ to request the birth certificate . After weeks i got an email that i have to submit a marriage certificate proving I am the mother. My passport data shows my name and last name which is the same as my son. How much more legal can this be?
I wouldn’t use them. All the money I sent and paid went for nothing.

They charged me $60 for what i could have gotten for $20 at the town clerk birth certificate LIVE AND LEARN - dont use them go to the county clerk in the city you were born and go from there

Vitacheck has a 93% 1 star rating according to trust pilot. It is a consensus with only 2% reported success rate in delivery of documents. Vitalchek defrauded me of $250.
