The plumber was on time, thorough, professional and extremely pleasant and helpful. This is the third time I have used WPJ Heating and I would unreservedly recommend them.

I am very happy with WPJ WIRJS. Their workers are responsible as well as knowledgeable of their trade. I find the price a bit high but all the same I hire their work for the above mentioned reasons.

Knowledgable and competent - fixed tricky plumbing issues

I have been using WPJ Heating since 2012 and they are reliable and efficient. Friendly staff who know their stuff. I had my Boiler service and the engineer was on time, thorough and very tidy. Thoroughly recommended!

Plumber was friendly, quick, tidy and helpful. However, taps were installed upside down on the shower so that they point at the wrong symbols… and the company sent an email demanding *immediate* payment of a substantial sum when most companies allow 30 days. Not a pleasant company to deal with for this reason.

Trustworthy, the engineers did a great job, the company supported with a small issue and followed up the next day. I highly recommend this company for changing your boiler.

We contacted the company because we already knew the heating valve was faulty — we made this clear over the phone. A gas engineer had replaced the same part only 11 months earlier, and we knew from that experience that it was roughly a one-hour job plus a £70 valve.

We understand that the company charges a full first hour for diagnosis and that engineers rely on their own assessment — this was explained to us. We accepted the £144 call-out fee on that basis. During this visit, the engineer confirmed that the valve was indeed the issue and added that the sight-glass electrodes also needed replacing. At no point did he mention any crack in the casing.

We also recognise that a quote was provided after the initial visit. and we did agree to it given the urgency of the situation — we had already been without heating for a month! However, the communication around the scope of work and the costs was far from clear. The additional items appeared only after the initial visit, and the justification for some of them was vague. On the day of the intervention, we were even asked to pay extra for making access panels to inspect flue joints. We never saw proof of cracks in the casing (was it even our casing as it was not mentioned during the first visit?). In addition the manual coming with the boiler disappeared when they did the work, therefore we have lost the instructions.

What was most disappointing was discovering on the final invoice that we were charged for three hours of labour, despite the job originally being a one-hour task and even with the additional work, unlikely to exceed two hours. In total, we were billed more than £1,100 for a job that, based on the original issue that we explained and was later confirmed, should have been around £200-300.

We acknowledge their policies, but this does not change the fact that the process felt disingenuous and poorly communicated. Clearer explanations, transparent justification of costs, and consistent information throughout would have made a significant difference. And we would have probably ask for a second opinion on some repair.

It is already difficult to find a reliable gas or plumbing company, and experiences like this do little to build trust in the profession.
