My experience with Abels Moving Services has been deeply frustrating and disappointing, prompting me to write this 1-star review. After deciding to move to Cambridge, UK, my wife and I were assured by their professional demeanor and the expectations set during our initial discussions. However, the aftermath of our move has been anything but smooth.

Weeks after our move-in, which initially seemed successful, we were blindsided by an email from Abels demanding payment for additional charges that were never mentioned before. This came as a complete shock since we had paid all the previously agreed-upon fees, and at no point during the move were these extra charges disclosed.

Seeking clarity, I immediately contacted Abels, requesting proof of these unexpected charges and an explanation. My request was met with silence; no proof was provided, nor any attempt to address my concerns. Feeling left in the dark, I turned to their customer service for help, hoping for some resolution or at least an acknowledgment of my complaint. Yet again, my attempt to seek assistance was ignored, with no response received for over two weeks.

To add insult to injury, the next communication from them was not an attempt to resolve the issue or provide the requested proof but rather an email stating that my payment was past due. This lack of communication, transparency, and customer support from Abels Moving Services has been astonishingly poor. It's one thing to deal with unexpected charges, but it's entirely another to face complete disregard from a company when attempting to resolve such issues.

I had hoped for a smooth transition to our new home in the UK, but instead, I was left dealing with stress and frustration due to Abels' unprofessionalism. I write this review to caution others about my experience, urging potential customers to consider other providers who value transparency and customer service.

Moved back from Dubai to the UK and their team moved us back into our new home. Very courteous, professional and efficient. They erected some of the furniture too which was great. We used Pickfords to move out to the UAE and it was poor, much of our stuff arrived damaged but these were far better and not as expensive which was a bonus. The packing and wrapping was second to none.

Abel’s picked up my goods from Felixstowe, sorted out the customs duty, and delivered them safe and sound to the north of England. The service was absolutely first class and every member of staff. I spoke to couldn’t have been more helpful. Not a single item was damaged, and everything was done with goodwill and humour. Definitely recommend using this company

Abels failed to inform us for 2 months that they had taken over the contract storing our stuff and moved it to a new location 40 miles away. They refused to let us inspect our goods to make sure they were in good order. And charged exorbitant (3x) rates for storage. so we had to use alternative removal company for this. Some of our goods are missing, others are not in good condition. Staff were always rude and inconsiderate. This experience lasted for nearly a year before we were able to get out get out of their strangle hold contract.

Abels is a real 5 star company. I was intially impressed by their flexibility in taking some furniture into storage. Then the assessment of our moving needs was carried out with great professionalism. This included a clear explanation of how things would work, which was very helpful. Our exchange of contracts was quite late but Abels were understanding and supportive on this. It was incredibly easy to communicate either by phone or email. On the days of packing and removing and then delivery the crew were just brilliant, providing advice when we needed it and working really hard to get everything ready and moved. They were also really easy to talk to and work with. I would recommend them strongly and without reservation.

Abels was fantastic and such a pleasure to deal with. They have a brilliant 'unpacking' service that saved us days of emptying boxes. . wonderful staff!

Swift, polite and cautious - had a great experience with Abel when moving from Canada to Scotland. Paul and team provided all the information when necessary and answered quickly, whereas the two-person moving team on the ground was quick and efficient - nothing was broken! When I move again, I will most definitely use Abel once more.

From the first visit to carry out a house inventory through the packing up stage to the final delivery and unloading, the service was highly professional. The team who did the packing up over several days took enormous care and nothing seemed too much trouble. The dismantling and reassembly of items of bulky furniture was done with great skill. Very impressed with the whole experience with Abels.

The men packing and unpacking, loading and unloading were very good indeed. But administratively they are a shambles. It took ages to get the quote confirmed with them, and on the day the handyman they promised did not turn up. After a day of having our calls ignored which was highly stressful, we were asked whether we could sort someone else out ourselves to attend the next day. Eventually someone did come on the afternoon of day 2 and they did cover the cost of our emergency electrician whom we used overnight on day 1 to remove our light fittings. In the move out there was a big fuss made about how they would separate the key items, bed, tv, kettle, mugs etc and do them last. But this last container then was not redelivered first out of storage. As a result we had to stay in an hotel overnight at further expense. The excuse was that most people don’t stay in their new place on night 1 of a 2 day move. But we were paying thousands more for an expensive premium service with a moving concierge and that person took no responsibility for the fact they did not ask us any questions about that assumption; it was “not the procedure in the yard to consult the inventory before deciding what to load out of store”, and not the procedure to ask, either. So don’t think you’re paying premium prices for premium organisation - you’re not. To top it all, even though we have paid to be unpacked we are expected to wait 11 days for the boxes they did not unpack initially to be collected. So I would say, don’t bother - save yourself thousands and use someone cheaper.

Our Abels team were extremely hard-working and completed packing on day 1 in good time. They worked with no fuss and absolutely minimal involvement required of us. They arrived early on day 2 and had loaded everything on the van by mid-day. After a wait for a couple of hours while the finances were confirmed we were unloaded and items that required rebuilding were completed and the rest placed in rooms directed by us by 17.30.
This was a well-run operation from the original survey to the final piece of furniture being put into our new home.

We couldn’t have been more delighted with the service we got from Abels. Everyone I dealt with, either organising the move or actually moving us on the day, went the extra mile to be helpful and flexible. We had quite a complicated move but it was all completed with the utmost care and consideration. They are an extremely professional, efficient and knowledgable company and the staff all reflect the high standards promised. Thank you Abels for making it a lot less stressful than it could have been.
