When I was contacted completely out of the blue by Eileen Lavelle of Anglia research informing me I may be a beneficiary in the estate of someone who had died intestate I was initially sceptical.
However when I contacted Eileen she was very reassuring and explained everything to me and was very helpful. She kept me informed of developments and was very approachable, answering any questions I had.
The estate is now settled.

It was a total surprise when Anglia Research Services reached out to me and their information booklet and documentation that followed the initial telephone call were very helpful. I contacted them to ask if they had any family tree information they could share and was delighted to receive names, and copies of newspaper snippings and more to help me understand the family tree, and its really now a great starting point to do more research moving forward about a part of my family I knew very little about.

BEWARE WHEN YOU SIGN THE DOCUSIGN FORM! READ EVERYTHING CAREFULLY
You know the saying: act in haste, repent at leisure! Well this was my brother and me.
We signed a DocuSign form within 2 or 3 days of this company contacting us. I wasn't thinking clearly because I was in shock after learning of the death of an estranged uncle. I believed I had a 14-day cooling-off period, but I did not appreciate that by requesting the service begin immediately, our ability to cancel would be affected if the work was completed. That misunderstanding was mine, and I have no one else to blame for signing too quickly. My advice to anyone else is simple: take your time and read every document carefully before signing.
Unfortunately, our experience after that was also disappointing. When we raised concerns and asked questions, we felt that many of them were not answered directly, while we were repeatedly asked to answer the same question ourselves. The correspondence became increasingly adversarial rather than helpful.
We also received an email requiring us to amend or remove this review within 48 hours, together with a warning that Anglia Research reserved all of its rights because they believed part of the review was factually inaccurate. Readers can make up their own minds about that approach, but it added unnecessary stress during what was already a difficult bereavement.
This review reflects our personal experience of dealing with the company.

My sister and I were contacted, totally unexpected to be informed that a relative of my grandmother had recently passed. After researching we decided to proceed with the claim. This process began back in January 2021... time passed and without any further communications we eventually concluded that nothing was to happen... July 2025 we was reconnected with an email saying that the estate was ready to distribute funds... gave documentation as requested and ...are still no further forward...
I am at a loss as to what to think.

I was initially very sceptical of the whole process when contacted to say my late Father had a potential share claim. I have to honestly say Alex Horrod of Anglia Research was excellent.
