Even Paying Subscribers Have Been Punished
I have been a long-time Pro Subscription user and have sung its praises to anyone interested in getting into music, but the latest move to limit the number of samples to be used-- even for paid subscriptions-- was a huge debilitation.
I do vocals and lyric writing and make arrangements often entirely out of samples that I painstakingly test and try out. There is a trial and error phase yet the moment you place a sample on a track, that's already one used up resource.
While I understand applying sample limits to free users, it feels as if even paying users have been penalized. 100 samples a month is hardly anything, and to have this implemented after years of being a paying subscriber is disheartening on top of nearly killing my process.
500 samples is better than 100 samples, but the payment difference between Pro and Max is just too large.
great software that doesnt work
great software, great samples, but my microphone isn't working! It's on BandLab's end, I found out through a bit of research and troubleshooting. It happened on my old bandlab account and then I created a new account and the mic was working;. now the mic is not working again on my new account. Ridiculous. I can't record my lyrics now. thanks.
Use anything else
I started using Bandlab in 2022 after trying to find alternatives to Soundtrap. Bandlab's loops and drum kits sounded better and were simply far more professional sounding compared to Soundtrap's. I used it regularly to make beats until late 2024 when I bought Logic, but I keep Bandlab around to make drafts if I can't use Logic at the moment. Beyong switching to Logic, my main motivation to stop using Bandlab was its bugginess and transition into paywalling everything, just like Soundtrap. I tried to use it again for the first time in a while recently and it's only gotten worse.
The bugs are a given since this is a web-based DAW; your browser will likely start lagging or crashing if you're adding a lot of tracks, MIDI, FX, etc. That being said, this could be solved if they made Bandlab into a standalone offline program, but this is something I saw requested for years and it doesn't seem like they care to even begin considering it. There's also a bunch of AI tools now which, based on every other app, I assume only make it run worse
For the past two or so years, they've been more focused on building the premium subscription, which recently has just been them putting previously free features behind a paywall. If I recall correctly, the premimum membership used to just be stuff to help get your music released and protected. Now, most studio features are included in the subcription. Having experienced most if not all of the "premium" studio features beforehand, they are not worth the $15/month subscription. That same money could just go into saving up for a real DAW that has them by default.
Bandlab's sound selection has also gone downhill over time IMO. Seemingly every pack now is just bunch of drum kits with sounds that they already had and cheap sounding corny loops. Sometimes there's packs revolving older subgenres and sounds, which is fine when you want to make music that reflects a specific era, but they don't really balance it with more current sounds anymore. A majority the virtual instruments that are available sound really cheap and bad most of the time and they add maybe 2 new ones a year (usually behind the subscription of course).
Bandlab is also a really annoying platform to be on because of all the forced social features. You're constantly getting random people's music forced at you cause they're boosting it, and I'm sorry but its rarely good. They even added a fake tiktok section to the app so when you open it, not only are you getting an ad but also some random person's promo instead of your library. I'm not against promotion and collabs and whatnot, but that is not what I use Bandlab for, and there's an entire other side of the community just like me that also just wants to use Bandlab as a DAW. The creation and social tools need to be put in separate apps.
I can't recommend using Bandlab for basically any reason at this point. If you're wiling to pay $15 a month for basic features, go ahead I guess. Otherwise I seriously suggest getting a professional DAW.
Excelente
Excelente. La uso on line desde hace meses.
Muy pro en su versión gratuita.
disappointed
I've been using BandLab since June of 2023. And I have noticed a few things as of late. First of all, you took down livestreams in 2024, I didn't think much of it. Then, you made a lot of stuff such as FXs and MIDI fxs like attack and release for Membership only. Now, you're making us pay membership to use samples? I'm sorry, but you have let a lot of people in the bandlab community down. And you're now losing users at a rapid rate because people are switching to things like GarageBand and FL Studio.
I'm writing this review to help you understand that making everything Membership isn't gonna fix everything and will only make things worse, if you really need money, host charity events and whatnot. But please, for the love of everything, PLEASE let the FXs and BandLab Sounds samples free again!!! - Autumn
Was a great platform but now their just…
Was a great platform but now their just greedy
all they do is exploit free users in an attempt to increase revenue.A purely trash company.
Bandlab transparency
First of all, they censor and suspend music artists accounts when they post their music. Next, they allow scammers, non music artists to use their app platform as a hook-up site...not to mention sex trafficking. When the scammers and non music artists are reported, they turn a blind eye and continue to allow them to use their platform for their scams. Furthermore, their policies and community guidelines are transparent and vague. They allow what is called Double Standard....or rules for thee not for scammers and non music artists.
Not to mention, they suspend music artists for NO REASON. The customer service is poor. They don't respond in a timely matter. They just ignore their suspended music artist when they ask them for the reason of suspension.
Too much advertising membership
Almost every page has at least one button that shows up their monthly/yearly membership. There's also pop-up ads when there used to be none; I get that it's free but it happens before I can even do anything in the app (once when I open it and another time when I open the studio) and it makes me want to close it almost immediately personally. Another thing I don't is that features that used to be free now cost money, like samples. It's also been laggy on my phone lately when there used to be no issues; it's been happening since the start of May for me.
Subscription fake distribution
Very very bad and they don't have any kind of marketing honesty about distribution, I paid 14 USD without gaining any features from bandlab , they scam and I advice to think about respectful website instead of bandlab
Pissed off. Really pissed off.
The app on Android just won't work. For some reason, you see wave form but can't hear the sound, no matter what you try in settings. Ultra-hyped program, in reality real garbage. Full of micro options, useless things and forced sociality, as if "artist" necessarily means "public relations." You are so pathetic. Someone must have told Bandlab that - because of them - people stopped throwing money at overpriced programs and even worse guitars, and lo and behold, this is the result. I wasted €15 on a USB-C jack cable, when I should have just stuck with analog. Thank you, Bandlab, "the future is the emulation software."
They stole every penny of my music
They stole every penny of my music's distribution money.
Money hungry DAW
The member fee is expensive as hell, the site is glitchy and laggy, The Features such as the sampler and virtual instruments are nearly useless cause of how bad they are and my last straw was the stupid sample limit.
Purely evil and greedy platform.
Greedy. So, so greedy. This platform was phenomenal, before. Then they put ads, and paywalls, and mastering paywalls, and more, more, more! This app is paid now, basically! And it is NOT worth the 230 dollars a year! Do NOT pay! This platform deserves to be boycotted until they change their ways. Hard to think, coz prolly they'll double down on that. I am a student, so i cant afford all that! And by the way, 230 dollars a year is massive, for everyone! It's too much...
Boycott BandLab. This platform needs to die.
My Review on BandLab
When I tried to use the website version of BandLab instead of the app version the volume on the MIDI devices weren't working regardless of any adjustment being made. The only reason I'm giving this 2 stars and not 1 is because the sound volume on the MIDI devices work better on the app than the website, but the website really need to fix their problems and the app is only available on Android & IOS (I think) and isn't available on Microsoft App Store which is why I use Soundtrap, Ultrabox, and Chrome Lab and not any DAWs else.
CORPORATE GREED
CORPORATE GREED. Everything was free and I used to have fun making a lot of music, but as of now writing this review the "250,000 free samples" (which is a lie it's closer to 10,000) are now locked behind credits where free users only get 20 PER MONTH. They've pushed too many ads and their stupid subscription too much. Do not download, do not use, it's practically useless without paying for it. Even if you do pay for it, they still want to charge you money for extra features and still cap you at 100 sounds per month for "pro" and 500 per month using "max".
They removed features that were helping…
They removed features that were helping artists get discovered as a way to force artists to pay for their boosts and membership , they are running ads all over our content without so much as giving a dime to us for our work, there is a way to earn money for your platform while also compensating the people making all of the content , bandlab clearly doesn't care about their own users, their greed and selfishness will be their downfall. The tik tok influencers they are filling up their platform with , are on the app advertising bandlabs membership without disclosing they are being paid to do so , which is illegal. The app is so shady and dodgy, i will be deleting my account. I hope bandlab changes their ways , as an artist its quite painful to watch them mistreat the artists and friends i met while i was active on their platform. Do better bandlab before yall go out of business.
It isnt worth a dime
It isnt worth a dime, definetly don't use distribution, they can't justify the "stats" can't prove them on any platform, its a scam, the part they admit they won't pay for certain platforms views, despite everyone else does says alot, they will rob you blind qith shit that was free and worked better as well, now its half assery, they self destructed their platform for a quick buck and lost the paying clientele for it.
they ruined it
it was a 5 star before but now all the good features are just a pay thing now this shit only wants money. its not difficult to be a good app!!! worst ever, stupid subscription
I was with Cakewalk from day one before…
I was with Cakewalk from day one before it was gobbled up by Bandlab. Now it's pure nagware which they made "FREE" temporarily to pull you in. You can't export, use tasks, etc. It's crippled Nagware and now I'm FORCED to pay a yearly FEE. This is NOT progress. I'm extremely unhappy and am in the process of Switching DAW platforms right now. I do not recommend, It's like INTUIT, once you get started, you get "embedded" into the platform and it's hard to switch no matter how much you hate what they have done. But in this case. I'm unhappy enough to switch.
Used to be a solid app
Used to be a solid app, but corporate greed ruins everything. Effects that were free for years are now locked behind a paywall. The free version is literally not worth downloading. Such a shame too because it was a really good app.
