Basildon Borough Council Reviews 

Every year I pay to have my garden waste collected. So far it has been collected once on the day it should have been. The crews continuesly miss it and say it wasn't out. Which is a lie as its always out by 6am to 6.30am. On escalating my complaint to the second stage they believe the crew and don't ask for any proof

I would like to pass on some positive feedback regarding a member of staff named Mark, whom I recently spoke with in relation to a Disabled Facilities Grant enquiry.

Unfortunately, I do not know Mark’s surname, but I contacted the council and spoke with him regarding a matter involving my mother-in-law.

I felt it was important to write because positive feedback is often overlooked. From the first conversation, Mark was professional, knowledgeable, and genuinely helpful. What impressed me most was that he took the time to listen and treated me as a person rather than simply another enquiry.

Mark followed up on the matter and later contacted me to let me know that progress had been made. He was genuinely pleased that things were moving forward and even took the time to pass on his good wishes for my mother-in-law. That level of care and consideration is rare and made a difficult situation much easier to deal with.

It is not often that you come across someone who clearly takes pride in their work and genuinely cares about helping people. Mark’s attitude, kindness, and professionalism stood out, and I wanted to make sure that his efforts were recognised.

Please pass on my sincere thanks and appreciation to him.

Do not set up direct debit if you are a single parent with children with disabilities, as they just take what they want when they want no warning. And then lie saying they are going ro issue a refund and nothing. They will leave your bank overdrawn so ypu can't even access you child benefit!! Scum of this earth. God is watching everything

I had a query about my bulk collection and spoke to Leanne in Bulk Waste Collections who went above and beyond to provide a high standard of service and was so helpful and efficient in dealing with my query.
My items were successfully collected and I am so pleased with the customer service.
Many thanks to Leanne and to the brilliant waste collection team who work on the streets of Billericay. I am very grateful.

Incompetent. Thieves.

We put out rubbish as normal. On the correct date time even on there new collection. Not sure why but rubbish not collected. Everyone else done but not mine then they say you have to wait 3 days for it to be collected with all the flys
Rubbish collection want replacing with people who can do job.

Wow! Where to start..... book a bulky waste collection, cant book for 2 weeks, okay, fine. Do that. That date comes and goes, no collection, this goes on for a week, I ring every day, no update. I complain, then they tell me, nothing was there..... they went to the wrong side of my house 🤦‍♀️ Not where my rubbish is collected from every single week without fail!!!!! Where they tell you to put it, where the rubbish guys have seen it for the last 2 weeks.... waiting to hear back, took my money and not done their job.... what do they want? This is the reason fly-tipping happens. I'm so fed up with this now!!!

Recently my wife and I were shopping in Pipps hill trading estate my wife had just finished her cigarette and looked around for a suitable bin to throw it away but the only one was a disgusting overflowing filthy dustbin so rather the throw it in there were it might have been a fire risk she decided to put in the gutter with all the others that were already there and Stand on it to make sure it was extinguished properly. Then out of nowhere two men appeared ant told her she would be now issued wit a fine of £100.00 she asked were she should have put the cigarette he pointed to the very overfilled filthy dustbin well personally I think she done the right thing just putting it on the filthy floor with all the other cigarette buts that look like they have been there for months these two men one with a type of uniform the other plane clothes the one with the uniform asked my wife all sorts of questions just like she had committed the crime of the century and they one with no id stood there listening to her private information including her age this is a lady in her 70s in a public place where any passer by could listen in it’s a joke but not funny if they don’t want people to throw things on the floor !!!!!!!!!! HOW ABOUT PROVIDING BINS !!!!!! Well we won’t be returning to spend money ther again so just be careful if your a smoker I believe these people hid and then pounce on unsuspecting people

What can I say other than incompetent!! We have to pay for green waste collections. We have paid and they still don’t collect it even after paying for it. They will. It refund us for the service we have paid for and they have not provided. What a bunch of clowns!!!

Missed waste collection.

White plastic recycling bag not emptied on collection date.
Tried to call to report the issue but unable to get through after 40 minutes.
Reported the issue on line and was asked to leave the bag outside to be collected within the next few days.
Never got collected until 08/04/2024
Received an email today stating that I was at fault for not leaving the bag out on the original day of collection.
I have a door camera which shows the collection team walking right past the White bag which was placed outside my front door along with the other recycling bags.
They are incompetent, Messy and now proven to fabricate the truth.
Well worth the £2500 council tax every year.

Rubbish Collection......These fantastic BLUE and WHITE BAGS BAGS we have been given to put our Plastic and Paper in are Being Blown down the street and rubbish coming out......when the Dust men come to pick them up , They only take the Rubbish left in the Bags and leave whats come out of them on the street, There have been 100's of Complains and nothing is being DONE........WHO is this Person who came up with this IDEA off spending all this Money getting these Bags......Will He come and pick all these rubbish left on the Road by the Dust Men.

Basildon fortnightly refuse collection. What pea brained pen pusher thought up the refuse collection ? What do we pay council tax for ? We do the job for them when it comes to rubbish and the streets are still full of litter . Bins & bags costing a fortune, men out of a job due to fortnightly collections. Put your rubbish in A B C D E F bins , bags & sacks , put that in there , that in that one . Where does the council tax money go need i ask. Pot holes, service cuts , job cuts etc etc etc . I'm still trying to catch up with Xmas rubbish so i'm going to have to pollute the air by having a wkly bonfire in the garden. It must be costing the council plenty to collect fly tipping rubbish, it's in the bushes , the fields , the streets. Someone with a foot in the real world needs to take over the council & get rid of the clueless pen pushers who have zero idea as the gardener probably disposes of their rubbish. I need an enterprising young man to collect black bin sacks for so much £ per sack, could make a nice bit of money, plenty need this kind of service . There are big families out there and a fortnightly collection & petty little bags for cardboard etc are not enough when Amazon send enough packing to fill one bag. Get a brain Basildon Council, your just making the town dirtier.

I shouldnt be giving a single star also, horrible rubbish collection system, wasting our time to sort out the rubbish in different bins. Not even collecting the rubbish on time. Seriously its so disgussting. The new blue white sack system is absoulutely disgusting.

Your totally incompetent, you have no real connection with the 'people' your useless, narrow minded have no concept of the job role your meant to be in, i said job role, NOT a Sausage Roll! i really don't understand how you can have so many negative reviews, yet remain where you are???? You have sent the area back 50 years and beyond, your just not serving any real purpose.... I'd be embarrassed to admit i worked for Basildon Council ....... but then again, what really is the point of saying how things are or how we feel, when none of you can probably even READ!?!

My wife and I are both disabled and are registered with Basildon council for assisted collections. At least 12 times last year we were missed and I had to make a complaint. Not once was it collected before the next collection day. Now first month of the new year they have already missed my food waste collection. Tried phoning to hear automated message saying your position in the queue is 20. I’m leaving the bin out as don’t want that smell indoors. If it’s not collected by midday Tomorrow I will get on my mobility scooter and leave the food waste in the council offices

What a disgrace Basildon council are,you pay for a service your not getting.Because of the Christmas holidays our rubbish was collected later in the week which is understandable but because I had a extra bag of rubbish that couldn’t go in the black bin they wouldn’t take it I had to put it in myself.If you pay your council tax 2 days late they sent you threading letters what a bunch of clowns.Really have had enough of paying more for less services and it will get worse according to the bin men I spoke to.

An absolute disgrace as not emptied our commercial bins and left is in a hazardous position

Commercial department after 4 days telephone number 01268 206797 do not answer the phone or call you back after leaving messages

Spoke to council main number and promised by Christopher that it would get sorted

So far two hours wasted about 12 calls in total and yet nothing

Why oh why keep Morgan sindall.
They are useless and dangerous.
70 year old square zinc gutters that leak badly.
Yet your useless Morgan sindall did not strike down my rotten collapsing soffit. All they did was cover the rotting wet wooden soffit with plastic.

This council (Basildon Council) is a joke, no staff in council office, (according to reception) phone never answers (trying to call since three days, every time listened the music coming out of phone for over an hour no one answered, only Council TAX Extension answers (no wonder), sent email messages, and reply came '(Thank you for your enquiry received by the ................. Team. Unfortunately, due to the high volume of enquiries we are currently experiencing, we may not be able to respond to the query within the ten working days target. We will deal with this as soon as possible.) It seems like the whole Basildons Council Properties are on sale keeping ................... Team so busy that they need MORE THAN 10 days to reply an email, and how many more days they require a month a year or infinity?

Went to council office according to Reception most of the staff working from home, (working from Home? latest report tells us that 74 working days are wasted due to working from home.) and asked me to leave my contact number so someone will call me, visited 3 times, non called. our Lawyers are trying to contact Councils lawyers through emails and phone calls since 26 days now, no reply to their emails, or their phone calls. Is Basildon Council means COUNCIL TAX only?
