Too many call outs, poor communication, most did not know how to load dish washer, had to call to find out about no show, had a hard time getting them to understand how many days I wanted someone for transition to memory care. A flipper got burned/destroyed on the heating element in the dish washer and was never reimbursed for cost, although they said they would. The only thing that was really good was Irish.

This review is only for the Brightstar care in Merrillville Indiana. There are many negative reviews for other cities, but this is the best home health care agency in Lake County IN! This is the one you want taking care of your loved one!
We've had several agencies prior to Brightstar, two of them were ok, one was not good at all; which is why I was looking for a new agency. On another web site, Brightstar had a 4.8 out of 5 stars, so I called them and found out why!
Nobody compares to this Brightstar office! The office staff, especially Adrienne and Tory, genuinely cares about meeting your needs, and does what it takes to get it done. They never act like you're bothering them, but take as much time as I need to explain what I'm needing; and they do it with a good/cheerful attitude!

Octavia, our first caregiver with them, was great, but had schedule conflicts, which resulted in them sending Destiny to us, who is absolutely phenomenal! She's excellent at her job, very caring and kind, does a great job and performs her duties to our requirements every time. She's fast and thorough; as well as extremely honest, respectful, and trustworthy; and always on time or early!
My wife was a CNA for many years, but now is needing to be cared for herself, as she's now bedridden. So If Rita tells you Destiny is THE BEST, that's saying a lot! Thank you Destiny! She's the respite care giver that I need! You better not loose her as an employee!

My nurse name was Tracy omg she was so so good she was an angel sent from heaven very patient and kind and got my leg healed very fast Iiss her so much she was my Nurse RN she would always let me know what time she was coming and was.never late she helped me.physically, mentally and spiritually I miss her and if you see her tell her she was a great nurse they need more people like her in the hospitals She a wonderful person that takes her job seriously, bright star you got a good nurse. Don't lose her and my PT he did his job and was gone he was great also I can't say or spell his name he was from Nigeria and very kind I miss him to since he been gone my knees have started back hurting

Both of the women who help me are great and have been pretty consistent over recent months. They are timely and get my tasks done well

I wanna say thanks for the loving care that Cynthia give to my husband Richard, she's a joy to be around and communicate with she's always laughing and talking and I have accepted her like family we are so grateful for Cynthia.

Horrible company with no manners or thoughts for other residents. Rude and unhelpful and seem to be dead set to upset as many people as possible. Not professional at all.

BrightStar in Columbus, Ohio, contracted through the Franklin County Office of Aging, is extremely unprofessional and disorganized. Their schedulers and management do not respond to emails, cannot maintain consistent coverage for the elderly, and frequently ignore calls from both employees and customers.

Staff frequently complain about poor communication, and turnover is constant. The scheduling manager provides incorrect information, and the company fails to coordinate properly. In my experience, I was informed only two days before an aide was supposed to assist my 102-year-old grandmother that they had “ended the contract” and no one would be coming—yet the program manager later confirmed that a 30-day notice is required.

Overall, BrightStar shows a complete lack of professionalism and respect for clients and staff. I strongly advise against using their services.

Caregivers better than some other services. Struggles with having caregivers show up. Can't get replacement care if a caregiver is no show. Staff is unprofessional.

I would never trust BrightStar Care to provide quality care for ANYONE! Please do yourself or your family member a favor and choose another home health care agency. This is by far one of the worst home health care services I’ve ever encountered.

This organization is unprofessional and incompetent. I contacted BrighterStar Care because I had a medical procedure scheduled in Louisville , and I was required by my physician to secure home health care for the first 1-2 days after surgery.

First of all , scheduling this care with BrightStar was a logistical nightmare. What should have been a simplistic task inexplicably took two days due to incompetence on the part of the BrightStar Care staff. They honestly should change their name to DarkStar. I received multiple calls from them asking me to resend paperwork which had already been sent numerous times. I’m still unsure why the scheduling process was so complicated, but staff incompetence appeared to be a primary reason.

Secondly, on the day of my scheduled care appointment, I unfortunately experienced a multitude of problems. First of all, my scheduled caregiver was a no show! After twenty frustrating minutes, I contacted. BrightStar, and, to their credit, they did apologize and sent over a replacement caregiver. This replacement caregiver was supposed to stay with me for 8 hours and help with my. post surgery recovery. Imagine my surprise when I fell asleep for an hour only to wake up and find my caregiver gone .. along with my pain medication. Adding to this nightmare, she also left the front door of my apartment unlocked.. leaving me unknowingly vulnerable, exposed, and in danger.An immediate call to BrightStar Care did nothing to remedy the situation. Their reaction can best be described as indifference, unfortunately.

I’m writing this review to help other people who might make the mistake of hiring this horrible business, Do yourself and your loved ones a favor and AVOID THIS COMPANY AT ALL COSTS.

I highly recommend. Very responsive. Shout out specifically to Billie Raines (Pepper), she has been nothing but a blessing to me and my situation. She has gone above and beyond. I work from home, so she was able to work around my work hours which was very convenient to where the visits did not interrupt any work interruptions or commitments. she has taken such good care of my wound that it is healing up just nicely and goes the extra mile on its care

I called in on a Sunday afternoon and Brightstar came to my home to start care for my critically ill veteran father. He gave his life to insure our freedom and Brightstar treated him with the love and care he deserved. They stayed with us day and night and went beyond our expectations. An amazing fact is that some of our care givers were also veterans, making my father so comfortable. I certainly recommend Brightstar for the care your loved one deserves!

Very inconsistent care. Out of four caregivers, I've only had one quality experience.

Several were on their phones non-stop. One hid to play on her phone when she was supposed to be watching the patient to make sure they didn't choke or have a seizure. Unsafe and inconsistent care.

Very expensive and poor service. While many of the employees are caring, the company doesn’t care about their clients at all, only about getting more billable hours. They have left my father alone in bed on numerous occasions and done anything about staff failing to show up. Some of the staff are experienced and genuinely care about what they are doing but most staff, and there is a different one every day, are not briefed on the client or requisite tasks, come in late, leave early and are on the mobile phone half the time and when this feedback is given to the company they categorize you as being a client with an attitude. If you can find any other alternative I would take it, Brightstar is awful.

This dangerous company failed to show up three times for my elderly father in law. They didn’t even call to say they wouldn’t be there. They lied during the consultation and after the fact said service “was never guaranteed.”

Over promise and under deliver to people you were hired to care for. Expensive, dangerous and shameful. Stay away from this company
