I discovered that Change.org was taking out a sum of money, for some months, that I did not give permission for. Turns out that it was an "opt-out" deduction that I had not noticed when I joined. It is very unusual for me to not notice this type of scam, but I guess I was lolled into a false sense of security, thinking this was a company I could trust. I didn't notice the deductions for some months due to some unfortunate circumstances happening in my life. I then had to waste time chasing them up to have the payment stopped. The payment was stopped but the discussion was terminated and no offer of reimbursement was made. This has been a very unpleasant experience, and I will not be supporting or making any further donations through this company. Very disappointing.

Indeed, my 5 stars were a joke — I made them to platform users as a way to draw attention to a real issue.

I am pleased to inform the Change.org contesting community, that is, all those legitimately raising concerns about unjustified withdrawals, that — even though Change.org never replied to me publicly — after several notifications on Trustpilot, they contacted me privately and confirmed that I have been removed from their unauthorised random withdrawal list.

Following this experience, I took the time to examine the company’s actual operating model.

IN MY EXPERIENCE, Change.org is not a nonprofit civic platform, BUT A FOR-PROFIT COMPANY.

Change.org works hard to help you reach your conservation campaigns! Excellent Platform! I highly recommend this platform to everyone!

Change.org accept that many supporters 'inadvertently' sign up to make regular payments instead of a one-off donation.
Don't feel bad when you notice those unsuspected monthly payments disappearing from your paypal or bank account; Change.org will refund the money taken in error very quickly and efficiently!

at first i thought i would not get anything back, but nicely suprised u guys did everything i asked even if maybe it was too much. Thank you
