I contacted Damp Proofing Solutions…
I contacted Damp Proofing Solutions after noticing clear signs of rising damp in several areas of my home, and I honestly couldn’t be more impressed with the service I received from every part of the team. From the very first phone call, the office staff were organised, friendly, and genuinely helpful. They took the time to understand what I was dealing with, asked sensible questions, and made sure I felt confident about the process ahead. Their communication was clear and throughout, and it’s rare to find office staff who balance professionalism with warmth so well, but they absolutely did.
The surveyor arrived at the agreed time and immediately gave me confidence that I was dealing with someone who really knew what they were doing. They carried out a full inspection of the property, starting outside by checking the external walls, ground levels, brickwork condition, and any potential bridging points. Inside, they used a calibrated damp meter to take readings across skirting boards, lower wall sections, corners, and areas where plaster looked discoloured. They explained each reading in plain language, showing me what normal moisture levels should look like and how the elevated readings confirmed rising damp rather than condensation or penetrating damp. They also inspected the existing damp proof course, highlighted where it had failed, and talked me through the exact steps needed to put things right. What stood out most was how thorough they were, no rushing, no vague answers, just clear, honest, detailed information, which I really appreciated.
When the technicians arrived to carry out the work, they were just as impressive. They introduced themselves properly, explained the plan for the day, and made sure everything around the work area was protected before starting. Their attention to detail was obvious from the moment they began. They removed the affected plaster carefully, treated the exposed brickwork, installed the new damp proof course with precision, and applied the specialist membrane exactly as described in the survey. Throughout the job, they kept me updated on progress, showed me what they were doing, and made sure I understood each stage. They worked efficiently but never cut corners, and the quality of their workmanship was clear in everything they did.
What really stood out was how respectful and tidy they were. They cleaned as they went, used dust sheets properly, and left the house in a far better state than I expected after such a messy job. When they finished, they walked me through the completed work, explained the drying times, and answered every question I had without making me feel like I was being a nuisance.
From start to finish, Damp Proofing Solutions delivered a level of service that is genuinely hard to find these days. The office staff were excellent, the surveyor was knowledgeable and thorough, and the technicians were skilled, polite, and incredibly professional. Rising damp is stressful to deal with, but they made the entire process straightforward, transparent, and reassuring. This is the 2nd time I have used DPS and they do not disappoint. Not only are they experts in their field but they are great to deal with. Professional, responsive and attentive to answer questions. Sammi, Lee and the team were pleasant to deal with and extremely knowledgeable. DPS don't do the things that frustrate us all when dealing with some trades, they turn up on time, respond, work to a finish and do what it says on the box. No short cuts taken and why would you want that anyway when it comes to damp prevention.

Aggressive owner overpriced.
Surveyor Insisted on a deposit of £4000 even though I said I wasn’t sure I would be able to get the time off at short notice as made out they were offering a great offer at short notice due to big cancelled contract
It was £18 k. Not a great price after all
I contacted my work as I am a nurse and they said unfortunately unable to allow it off at 3 days notice.
I had received no written survey no contract and signed nothing I canceled it before receiving anything actually within 30 minutes
I notified everyone straight away but was met with aggression.
I had to beg for my deposit back which the owner Stuart Gatenby was gaslighting and aggressive on the phone.
I have witness to verify this and he put phone down on me multiple times .
I eventually got part of my deposit back minus £410 plus £50 for an hour visit as he charged me for a written survey which came 24 hours after I cancelled it
I paid the £50 cash for the verbal walk around and instructed I was canceling and did not require the survey as cancelled job
I have e mails and other evidence too Support this review including a refusal to return any of my deposit if I left a negative review however
I said my review would be accurate and honest which it is.
This is the reason for their 5 star reviews.

I have evidence of all this and advised I did not require a report but you ignored my request and sent a report.the next day.
I called your office and advised your admin staff that I had cancelled everything the day before but she said you hadn’t made anyone aware.
I did not open your report and still haven’t so to say I was happy with the contents is a complete lie hence I would not use or recommend your company to anyone following your pushy sale tactics fabrIication of severity of damp issues and using the just had a big contact cancelled offering a one time only great price.
I have since had a specialist company to survey my house and they did not agree with the verbal survey from your surveyor and the cost was no where near the extortionate amount you charge for part walls in 3 rooms
I would honestly say to anyone thinking of using this company to be cautious about the five star rating as I would give 0

We’re surprised to read this feedback, as it does not reflect our recollection of events. As you decided to cancel the scheduled works at very short notice, which was extremely disruptive and costly to our business we were legally entitled to retain the full deposit due to the significant loss of revenue we suffered. However, purely as a gesture of goodwill and in the interest of treating yourself as respectfully as possible, we decided to fully refund your deposit. We only charged for the report that we produced, which at the time you were delighted with. We believe this speaks volumes about our conduct and professionalism.

Would highly recommend DPS. Everyone polite, friendly, knowledgeable from Becky who we initially contacted, Sammi who came to do our survey to the three guys who came to carry out the work. They arrived on time, worked non stop, were respectful of our home and tidied up after themselves after the job was completed.

Damp proofing solutions did a fantastic job. From the initial survey by Sam to the treatment and completion by Lee and Lukasz. They were professional and reliable. The work was completed in two days and they left our home clean and tidy. Their estimate was transparent with no hidden extras and we were really pleased with the work that they did.

Rising damp
Noticed I had a rising damp problem earlier in the year. Having spoken to my neighbour they recommended DPS.
From first contact on the phone to the surveyor and the guys that did the work it's been a great experience.
Everyone was professional, very helpful and respectful of my home. The process was explained clearly and I was shown the product that would replace my damp proof course. The guys that did the work helped move furniture covered everything up and tided up when they finished. I can't fault them.

A very good experience from the start…
A very good experience from the start of my journey with DPS. The lady that answered my call, was very friendly and helpful, with a lovely smiley voice. Then the lovely rep came to explain everything in a really good understandable way. Everything that was going to be done, he did a very thorough detailed examination on all the walls, to confirm we did have damp, explaining all the time what he was doing and why. Then Lee and his team turned up, what a team. Professional,friendly, and amazing workers, efficient no nonsense.The job all in all done with no fuss and done very well, with care and mindfulness. Then at the end, thoroughly cleaned up after themselves. What an amazing company. We would highly recommend.

Telephone and e-mail communication with Damp Proofing Solutions were helpful, productive and efficient. The damp survey was carried out at a time to suit us and was very informative, the findings and recommendations were clearly explained and accepted. A date was agreed there and then for remedial works to be carried out, this was completed on the agreed date to our entire satisfaction. The installation team carried out their work tidily and efficiently and cleaned up well before leaving.
