God Awful Company
God Awful Company!
DCP were appointed by our insurer after our house fire last year.
Firstly let's get the positives out of the way - the team of people that took away our items were very friendly, efficient and good at what they do. I don't envy their task and they did it with a smile.
This is where the positive experience stopped... utter chaos ensued thereafter.
They lost a lot of our items, sent us items back that were categorised BER alongside 'cleaned items' (literally in the same box), sent us items that didn't belong to us, showed PAT testing certificates for broken items... Cleaned items stunk of smoke... simply not cleaned at all. Taking a wipe to 90% of the returned items clearly showed black soot.
They were given countless opportunities to make good the issues and failed at every single hurdle.
Insurance companies pay £1,000's to joke companies like this, who in turn make the whole process much more stressful than it ever should be! AVOID! DON'T LET YOUR INSURANCE CONPANY FORCE YOU INTO USING THESE CLOWNS
Our experience with DisasterCare was appalling - avoid
Our experience with DisasterCare (working on behalf of AXA Home Insurance) was disastrous. After a serious flood, DisasterCare took months to begin stripping out and drying the property, leading to mould, damp, and secondary damage that could have been avoided. The strip-out work was incomplete and poorly executed—the kitchen flooring was left half-done, the garage uncleared for months, and dust damage spread throughout the rest of the house due to negligence. Their incompetence also caused additional property loss. Items sent to storage were either lost, destroyed, or possibly stolen, including inherited and sentimental pieces. They returned written-off items but claimed that an employee had destroyed our items in storage in error. No evidence was provided for this assertion. Although DisasterCare compensated us for the lost, stolen or destroyed items, several months later they "found" the items and asked for us to pay the money back. By this time we had replaced the missing items and so we declined refund the money. Despite admitting fault, neither DisasterCare nor AXA provided evidence as to what happened and AXA declined to explain why they had contracted such an unfit company as DisasterCare in the first place and refused to take responsibility for their contractor’s failings. We endured months of unnecessary delays, confusion, and neglect. The experience has been chaotic, unprofessional, and upsetting from start to finish. DisasterCare's delays, incompetence, and loss of our belongings turned an already traumatic flood into a nightmare. Avoid at all costs.
DisasterCare Essex were excellent
We suffered a large water leak that caused damage throughout the house. DisasterCare were brilliant throughout, handling the removal of beyond repair items, the drying out process and storing our house contents for 4 months whilst the repairs were carried out.
All the staff we dealt with were a credit to the company.
DO NOT RECOMMEND
We entrusted this company with our equipment for an insurance claim, expecting it to be assessed and handled professionally. Instead, the equipment was returned damaged, not properly cleaned, and still contained plaster residue, which was obvious on inspection.
Despite this, we were told the equipment was safe to use. However, a subsequent inspection by another professional found failed internal components and confirmed it was unsafe. As a result, the equipment has now been BER’ed.
This situation shows a serious lack of care, inadequate inspection, and concerning advice regarding safety. The handling of our equipment and the misinformation provided caused unnecessary stress and could have resulted in significant risk, plus added significant timescales to our claim as they had the equipment for over 4 weeks.
We are extremely disappointed and would not recommend this company based on our experience.

My mother has dementia and mobility…
My mother has dementia and mobility issues her property had a huge flood 13 items taken away only from ground floor 3 items repaired but rest told no good so need replacing some of these are items which you can't get ie a dresser/ drinks unit combo with mirrors light and lock glass shelf 6 foot high by about 3 to 4 foot wide they are charging my mother £5500 her policy as she is a pensioner and can't afford much is £10,000 the carpet was destroyed (disaster care didn't deal with carpets ), so after all costs she is left with £2100 to replace all items lost bit unfair.
Disaster Care Yorkshire - Excellent!
We hope you never need to call upon the services of Disaster Care but if you do then you could not be in better hands than under the care of Kevin, Paul, Claire and all the team from DC West Yorkshire. At a challenging and stressful time following an escape of water they were consistently professional, efficient and courteous. They are a committed and highly knowledgeable team and the small things made a huge difference to us such as ringing ahead to confirm they were en route and always arriving when scheduled. In contrast with other companies we have had to deal with as part of the repair work, Kevin and team care about the impact of what they do and standard of work they deliver. We cannot thank them enough.

After reading reviews I've got a better understanding of why I was so disappointed with the clean they did on my house, they're not a cleaning company!!
My insurance company paid them to do a deep clean at my property (after being out of my property for 2 years) as there was building dust from top to bottom of my house. This company didn't even clean the toilets that had been used by the builders, just put cleaner down and left them. Floors were filthy, sink & drainer had stains all over, top of wardrobes hadn't been wiped, I could go on. I was expecting to find my house gleaming, so very disappointed.
They sent me a feedback link that wouldn't open, funny that! So I jumped on here to leave an honest review.
Efficient, friendly and caring team - thank you
As soon as DisasterCare became involved in my insurance claim they brought a massive human touch to what was a very upsetting and stressful time. My home was uninhabitable for 6 months due to significant water damage, and the team were efficient, friendly, reassuring and sensitive to how upsetting things were. They did a brilliant job of producing a BER list, promptly collecting and cleaning my soft furnishings, bedding and clothes and safety storing my items. They have been flexible and responsive throughout and I honestly feel they have kept me sane in what has otherwise been a very ‘process driven’ experience with contractors, insurers etc. Thank you, Kev, Claire and team - you have made a horrible time a lot more manageable!
Poor
Our experience was poor ! Lack of communication, had to email constantly and did nt always get reply’s . Tried to get a full inventory of everything they took out of our home and they wouldn’t give us or our insurance company one ! Which caused problems throughout the process. Brought furniture back damaged! Our gloss unit / wooden part inside had black soot all over it still after them having it 4 months! Our corner sofa the back cushions damaged. Not great and when customers are stressed enough it’s not needed . Plus only 2 girls sent in to clean which then because of Xmas became a rush job through no fault of theirs . Would not recommend this company.
Northern Ireland - first class …
I’m in Northern Ireland and as soon as Jason came to my house to check the damage I felt like they would look after my property and contents like their own. David always answered my call (of which there were quite a few) first time or phoned me back immediately. All the contents were wrapped and stored well. They were returned in boxes and the boxes were uplifted as soon as I had finished with them. Couldn’t recommend highly enough

Outstanding Service from Ali and the Team at Disaster Care Platinum
I recently had a flood in my home and the damage was quite extensive. The water ruined my wooden floors, substrate and walls. My Insurance Company had appointed Disaster Care Platinum and I couldn’t be more pleased with with the outcome.
Ali and his team arrived at my property promptly and immediately set to work assessing the damage. They took the time to explain the process to me in detail, ensuring I understood each step of the remediation process. From start to finish, they were incredibly thorough and professional.
The team worked quickly and efficiently to remove the damaged wooden floors, substrate and plaster. They were extremely careful during the removal process, taking care not to cause any further damage to the surrounding areas of the house. They even ensured that the materials were disposed of properly, which was a big relief.
What impressed me most was the level of attention to detail and the quality of their work. The team didn’t cut any corners and made sure everything was done to the highest standard. I also appreciated how communicative and respectful they were throughout the entire process. They made sure to keep me updated on their progress, and they were always available to answer any questions I had.
It was clear that they are experienced and knowledgeable in handling flood damage and I felt confident that my home was in capable hands.
I highly recommend Ali and his team at Disaster Care Platinum to anyone dealing with water damage or flooding. Their professionalism, efficiency, and high-quality work made what could have been a very stressful situation much easier to manage.
Thank you again, Ali and team, for your excellent service!
A dismal experience
A dismal experience from start to finish. When our cottage flooded badly in January 2024, the Disaster Care men came in, said we were doing all the right things (fire lit and one small domestic dehumidifier on) and went out. No moisture readings taken, no inspection of where the water might have settled, no consideration of whether to install large-scale dehumidifiers. Three weeks later, our builders discovered that the ingress of water had formed a lake under the floorboards and had seeped through the floor tiles. Black mould covered the walls, fixtures and fittings were ruined and the place stank of rot. The cottage had to be stripped out, floors taken up, new kitchen installed, curtains replaced. All of which would have been avoided if Disaster Care had put in dehumidifying and heating equipment from the start, as alternative contractors did in the adjoining cottage. 10 months later, they returned half the furniture from storage claiming that I had ordered the rest to be 'sent to the tip'. On their return to the depot they found the other half of our furniture and were obliged to deliver it on a second trip. No apology. It's a mystery how they stay in business.
Great professional service
Great professional service - I was at a loss how to dry out my kitchen following a leak and my insurance company sent disaster care to sort it out. Mick was polite , explained everything and I was reassured it would be sorted and it was ! Damp smell has gone and hopefully I can now progress in getting the kitchen fixed
Terrible service
Terrible service - we have absolutely no trust or faith with this company. They are out of their depth with the requirements of our needs post our home flooding. They quality of management and oversight is unacceptable at best. There is no empathy they have lost furniture - contradicted themselves on our BER list - failed to do things thoroughly or in a timely manner. I question the governance process and their quality management systems. I will be pursuing our ongoing despair at their service via both the health and safety executive and our insurer. This might actually make them take some ownership.
Excellent service, very professional
Excellent Service , very professional ,the gentlemen made sure the fridge freezer was in place and everything packaging was taken away ,they also took my old freezer away ,they made sure we were happy with everything before they left.
Disastercare to the rescue
Disaster care contacted me the evening that the fire had been reported to my insurance company. David Gamble and his team arrived out the next morning and began the clean up. David was very reassuring and the team were marvellous. They salvaged what they could. The clean up left the rest of the house sparkling and the smell of smoke has gone. I now await the insurance go ahead to restore the seat of the fire. I have only praise for David and his team. Lovely guys at such a traumatic time. David is very contactable and answered my queries
Fabulous company in my experience.

I suffered a serious water leak over a long period under my kitchen tiles from a badly installed washing machine. Disaster Care NI were responsible for calculating the damage and lifting all the floor tiles. They installed several humidifiers and fans, came back a week later to remove them after confirming the floor had dried out. I was kept informed throughout the process and am happy that Stephen and his assistant did a good job.
Disaster Care NI experience …
Disaster Care NI contacted me immediately they were appointed by my insurance company in July. They set up their drying equipment within a few days and started the drying process. When, two weeks later, they were approved to remove my furniture and do the stripping out of the property they set a date and the number of days it would take. They arrived on time removed the furniture and started the stripping out. This was completed quickly and all the debris removed. The drying equipment was set up again. Steve kept me informed throughout of what steps he would take and what I could expect. His staff were efficient, courteous and knew exactly what they were doing. Today, 9 August
Steve arrived to test the dryness of my property. I'm happy to say the property is now dry and the numerous fans and dehumidifiers have gone. Steve and his team turned what had been a negative experience into a more positive one. I would have no hesitation in recommending Disaster Care NI.
Stephen from Disaster Care and his team…
Stephen from Disaster Care and his team were polite and engaged with us in answering all our questions. The dehumidifying was loud but only two weeks. Removal of cupboards and contents was effective and the return was also seamless. They also came back to put the cupboards and boxes back in the kitchen after the painters had moved them into the rest of the house. Thank you Stephen and your team

Disaster care Northern Ireland were appointed by insurance company to dry out my ground floor following longstanding undetected leak. This was not straight forward and required dry injection drying. I found David and his team exceptional from the moment they became involved. Staff turned up when they said they would and removed kitchen / living room units and furnishings for storage. David and the team continued to monitor the readings and kept me updated throughout. There was always someone available and there was immediate responsive action if required. I would highly recommend this company.
